It’s perfect to serve over cauliflower rice and my boyfriend and I eat it all the time! I have to thank you for having such a variety of instant pot ideas. I get my socket salmon from Alaska vacuum packed and already frozen. There is very minimal degrading of the product (I don’t think there’s any) because it comes directly out of the sea from the fisherman directly to the processor who also flash freezes it.
If you can’t get it that way because you don’t know a fisherman, the grocery store does have frozen sides of salmon.
Also I’ve purchased Costco’s sockeye salmon and it’s quite good.
Fresh is wonderful as long as it hadn’t sat around in the meat section for days. Or you go fishing yourself AND clean it and put it on ice immediately. Many don’t have the capacity to get truly fresh salmon.
I’ve been a commercial fisher. I was also in the fishing community and eventually also owned a wholesale seafood market. Even fresh can be bad and frozen will be if not treated properly. But it can be the best option. Especially now that there isn’t a lot of fresh to be had.
Looks in this case do matter.
    I would recommend trying Costco’s.

For my pulled pork recipe I use 1-2 packets of onion soup mix (depending on size of roast), 1 glass bottle of coke and then I cook it. Once it's done I can do 2 things I can do bbq OR if I mix in a little bit of brown gravy it taste amazing as well! Both go on the brioche buns that are super cheap at costco lol

Today was my first experience with my new hot pot. I am made navy beans/white beans in the pot. They turned out wonderful. Are usually cook them on the stove with a ham hock, but I didn’t really know how to do that in my hot pot. The beans were not really done, so I put on some more minutes and they turned out perfectly. My husband is learning along with me.

you should do a video on the many uses of an instant pot and how to use it. there are a lot of us who do not know how to use them, but would like to know.

With the yogurt, Mountain High absolutely has the best flavor! I tried many brands, and this makes the best yogurt. (Did you know that the taste depends on the strains of bacteria that are in the starter yogurt?) I only use 1 tbsp. and it's enough. I use some that I've saved from the previous batch. I don't use the condensed milk because I don't want sugar. I believe that sugar affects the viability of the bacteria. Instead of a whisk, which scratches the bottom of my insert, I use an immersion blender. I add the starter first with a little milk, blend it with a spoon, then add the rest of the milk. I use the immersion blender until it's frothy.

Thanks for your comment @Linda Harris... I was wondering about that exact issue myself. I just LOVE the flavour of sweetened condensed milk, so was/am quite intrigued & tempted by the idea of incorporating it into the recipe... but was/am also concerned about whether that would in turn affect or negate its ability to culture the next batch(es) going forward after that... (and then *_their_* ability to culture the *_next_* subsequent batch(es) after that... and so on....)
Plus, not to mention also that a diminished (or nil) microbial count would therefore of course impact (or negate) the probiotic health benefits that come part & parcel w. eating cultured foods... (which is *much* - if not most - of the reason why I buy & eat yogurt to begin with!)
And considering that part of the appeal of making one's own yogurt is to not only control the ingredients that go in it (and so into our bodies, as well)... but I think for most people who make it themselves, a big part of it is *also* about saving money too... so having to continue buying more store-bought yogurt just for a few tablespoons of starter to make your own at home just doesn't make practical sense at all... (especially for myself, where one tub of it will last me for quite a while, as it is).
So, with that in mind, I suppose then that a better option would be to simply add in the condensed milk later on??... (as if it were simply another flavouring addition like fruit, compote/jam, honey, etc...??)
Linda, do you know to what extent the microbial viability would be affected by including the condensed milk during the incubation stage? Only somewhat? Or do you think it'd be quite significantly??
(Mind you, since it appears from this video that the milk/yogurt was able to set up just fine even in the presence of all that sugar from the condensed milk, would that not then also imply that perhaps there *is* no negative effect (or maybe very little) in terms of microbial activity (& its future viability)??
Sorry for the lengthy msg to lay out my thought process with this & my questions/doubts as a result... but am admittedly feeling a little confused about this so would appreciate any feedback from those who know... to help steer me in the right direction w. this, so I can proceed accordingly and make an educated decision re: how/when/if/whether to add the condensed milk (if at all)... thanks!

@@fenixdesigns My naturopath says that any kind of sugar in your yogurt, including fruit, at any stage, will kill the good bacteria. The most I ever put in plain yogurt is stevia, which doesn't affect the viability. But with the yogurt started with Mountain High yogurt, I don't need even that. When I buy a container of yogurt for starting the first batch, I use a tablespoon or so fresh and freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. Then I use one of those for each new batch until I've used them all. After that, I save a few tablespoons for the next batch. I just have to remember to take the frozen cube out a day ahead and let it thaw in the refrigerator. And when I save some from the current batch, I do it right away so I don't forget later. I hope that answers your questions.
