Was out of the youtube game for the past 10 plus years, graduated and started working in movies, so it´s been a couple years of lots of learning and lots of crazy experiences. Hes a method actor...he doesnt break character in between takes..Eva Mendez said once that she didnt like working with him on We Own The Night for that reason, she said he was too serious.
I love how PSH looks at Joaquin a couple of times just to see if he's losing it too or not. Mr. Phoenix stand there with a straight face, which made Hofman try to contain himself. The Master and his apprentice are were in another whole level.
If I ripped a mighty one like that in an elevator with Amy Adams, Phoenix, PSH and Rami Malek Id be scarred for life, this dude did it in a take for a PTA film. What a lad.

Yes, but in this scene Freddie was upset because John More had challenged Dodd's teachings and embarrassed "the cause" in the previous scene. So it makes sense that he kept his anger/seriousness. Joaquin is committed.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I think it would have made a good B-Role clip if he was in his character and laughed like he would have in a less solemn situation.
