I think one of the "Blanch" books by Barbara Neely was made into a movie.
"Black Noir; Mystery, Crime, and suspense Fiction by African American Writers" Editor, Otto Penzler
"Black Heat" by Norman Kelly and two other writers, Gary Phillips and Gar Anthony Haywood.
