The Wisdom of Kabbalah (a.k.a. Ancient Jewish Mysticism) has been cloaked in mystery for millennia, since its inception around 5,000 years ago. And no, it's not about bracelets or Ariana Grande. In this session, Gil Shir opens it all up and explains what the authentic wisdom of Kabbalah is REALLY all about!
Many concepts have been taken from the wisdom of Kabbalah and filtered through various sciences, Jewish mysticism, religions, and other teachings, but authentic Kabbalah has been studied and developed by a relatively small number of individuals and groups throughout history, mostly in hiding from society at large.
Therefore, after thousands of years of Kabbalah’s authentic practice taking place in secret, and many non-Kabbalists in history blending whatever they understood from Kabbalistic texts into their respective teachings, it has become strewn in myth and misconception.
The wisdom of Kabbalah thus needs clarification.
Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag (Baal HaSulam), the most renowned Kabbalist of the 20th century, and the only Kabbalist who wrote commentaries to both The Book of Zohar and the writings of Kabbalist Isaac Luria (the Ari) defines Kabbalah as "no more and no less than a sequence of roots, which hang down by way of cause and effect, in fixed, determined rules, weaving into a single, exalted goal described as 'the revelation of His Godliness to His creatures in this world.'”
According to this definition, there is a superior power in reality. Kabbalah has given various names to this superior force, such as “His Godliness,” as in this definition, as well as “the Creator,” “Nature,” “upper force,” “upper light” and “Ein Sof (Infinity)” to name a few.
From this superior power extends a cause-and-effect chain of forces that cascade into our world.
In our world, we perceive a very small fragment of the complete reality surrounding us, as the superior power and the forces stemming from it are concealed from our perception.
While alive in our world, the wisdom of Kabbalah enables us to discover these higher forces all the way to the original superior power that created and includes all forces in reality (“the revelation of His Godliness to His creatures in this world”).
Engaging in Kabbalah grants us access to perceive and sense beyond a certain barrier that is positioned between our inborn corporeal perception, and the perception of the higher forces.
On our way to the revelation of the superior power in reality, we discover many other phenomena that are concealed from our current perception, such as
five upper worlds (Ein Sof, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira and Assiya),
ten Sefirot (Keter, Hochma, Bina, Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzah, Hod, Yesod and Malchut), and
    125 Partzufim.
These phenomena make up what Kabbalah describes as a tree of life between our world and the superior power, and which we can reveal from our world all the way to its original causal force.
The wisdom of Kabbalah is thus the research of everything existing beyond our corporeal perception, and it depicts a greater reality of fixed, absolute, and omnipresent laws, which are directed so that every person who so wishes can discover the causal forces behind everything happening in their lives and in nature, while alive in our world.
0:00 What will we learn in this session?

    37:29 Where am I?
44:19 Do our five senses distract us from perceiving the spiritual world?
46:26 What is the connection between me and others?
52:59 A summary of who we are, where we are, and how we can tap into a higher level of reality

Do you explain somewhere in other lectures perhaps how to tune oneslef into this frequency of "light"? I mean what to do practically to tap into this vibration of infinite possibilities as opposed to filter & perceive reality only through our 5 senses. Thank you.

This is what has happened to me after dabbling in Kabbalah. It could explain the suicidal tendencies people have. I continually find myself in situations that I later reflect on. The reflection is my behavior as to what I said or how I behaved in that situation and how it might of affected them. ( light goes off in my head) I got to say I am not a nice person. The intention of what I said or did was not meant to be mean but I realize later that it was mean and probably cut like a razor. By looking into this mirror that seems to always be put in front of me I am heart broken by my behavior and want to with draw from everything. I could see someone deciding to check out if faced with this self reflection. I absolutely hate looking at the mirror. I try to change it but no luck. I feel sorry for anyone that has to look at their own darkness.

I too have experienced this darkness in myself in situations of crisis. But because of the love of my husband and some awesome friends I have learned how to embrace the light in myself and life. How you might ask, by concentrating on the beauty in the world around me. Taking a walk, listening to the birds, smelling the flowers, admiring the majestic trees. The simple beauty of the Heavenly Father's gifts to us his children. And I also thank our Heavenly Father for the gifts he has given us. With each small encounter a little bit of light removes the darkness. The darkness in myself is under control because I accepted that I am in control, it doesn't control me. You are not alone. Be Blessed !

In economics, the food example is called declining marginal utility of consumption. But I still like my car very much, even though it has a few scratches and I don't keep it extremely clean. Even after a couple years, every time I look at or I get in my car I have the feeling, "I like my car" and I am grateful for my car. It brings me joy. I feel gratitude. It's not the most expensive car. I would like to get an electric car in the future. I just feel like I found the right car for me at this time. The phenomenon I was referring to is called in psychology the hedonic treadmill (or hedonic adaptation). It's "the observed tendency of humans to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes" A quick google search will give you research on the topic along with many examples of this. Of course there are always exceptions, but that's the main idea.

Thanks for this video. Is dying a negative thing?? If dying is part of nature, why is that a negative thing? I always thought that dying is positive so that one has the great possibility to be reborn somewhere new. This can happen with just the mind and a new phase of life, new understanding, new insights, and/or physically one can be reborn elsewhere.

I know I have a lot to learn but Kabbalah does change our corporeal desires. I’m not understanding how it doesn’t? And isn’t the original soul of Adam Kadmon metaphorically the Adam Harishom? Maybe I should ask this in KabU.

My first thought was a painter ON A TV SHOW being given a minute and 50 seconds is going to paint SOMETHING GOOD! He’s a professional! It would have been different if you said an amateur. Y’all wild. An amateur I would have had the reaction you had.

Feivel Levertoff was one of the translators of what is still the premier English version of the Zohar (published by the highly-respected Jewish publishing company Soncino Press). A yeshiva-trained Hassidic Jew and a third-generation descendant of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi (the founder of Chabad Lubavitch), Levertoff came to believe that Jesus is the Messiah through parallels he found between the New Testament and his Kabbalistic Jewish faith.
Kabbalah is helpful in teaching us the concept of a human sacrifice that atones for our sins, which we can read in the Zohar:
Pasook 110-111 from the Zohar Sulam Commentary on Parasha Pinchas (bold emphasis added):
"When the Holy One, blessed be He, wishes to grant healing to the world, He inflicts diseases and pestilence on one righteous man from among them, and, for his sake, gives healing to everyone. Where do we learn this from? From the verse: "But he was wounded because of our transgressions and by his injury we are healed" (Yeshayah 53:5). "and by his injury": this refers to the letting of blood, as one who lets blood from the arm, for in that injury "we are healed," that is to say, we, all the parts of the body, find healing.
And He never smites the righteous man unless it is in order to grant healing to the generation and to make atonement for their sins, for the Other Side prefers MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE that Judgment should have control over the righteous, for he does not then consider the rest of the world important and he doesn't watch over them because of his great joy that he has control OVER THE RIGHTEOUS. And the righteous person WHO SUFFERS BECAUSE OF THE GENERATION merits heavenly rule, in this world and in the World to Come."
Also, Zohar II:43b (vol. 3, p. 134 in the Soncino Press edition) teaches us the Trinitarian nature of God.
"Hear, O Israel, Adonai Eloheinu Adonai is one. These three are one. How can the three Names be one? Only through the perception of faith; in the vision of the Holy Spirit, in the beholding of the hidden eye alone.…So it is with the mystery of the threefold Divine manifestations designated by Adonai Eloheinu Adonai-three modes which yet form one unity."

When he was painting I thought "what is it going to be" I felt confused with how it would make sense in the end. After I thought that I thought of how he knows what he's doing he has a plan already in hand and knows the turnout even though we don't until we see it.

Although this is a great introduction to the practice, you will never be able to get the full understanding through this video or videos alone. One must venture through the Torah in order to grasp what is being said.

Thanks for this video - By the way, I'm a student following the course on your site. How can the spiritual world originate causes for consequences (as you say)? I think that the action -- or the initiative to move into any form of action -- comes from the human's FREE WILL TO ACT or not to act -- on earth -- which causes what he/she puts in motion... this is the HUMAN CAUSING SOMETHING, this is, in fact, the CAUSE of something that will bring a CONSEQUENCE. It's not correct what I'm saying? I feel that the spiritual world might be fixed in spiritual laws that will bring a particular CONSEQUENCE -- not a cause -- to a free will ACTION. Am I wrong? Could you please help me understand this concept better? Thanks!!
