I felt the same way. They really haven't made that style of music since the southern air album. Their last 2 albums felt like an entirely different sound

@@baileyryan96 Nah, the best differents sounds is Lift The Sail. The self titled album is basically the best of Ocean Avenue mix with Southern Air. My personal lifetime favourite would be When You're Done Thinking, Say Yes. The pinnacle of Yellowcard's career.

I was absolutely devastated in 2016 when it was announced that Yellowcard was splitting up. My absolute favourite band that I grew up with, with albums like Paper Walls, WYTTSY, Southern Air and Lift a Sail being the foundation of my love for music. I remember driving to Sydney all the way from Melbourne with my Dad because it was the only all ages show, just so I could see Yellowcard for one last time, and that is a beautiful memory. And now that you guys are back, I'm at a loss for words. Thank you so much for this💛

I always got a little emotional listing to the self titled album from 2016 where I thought that was it for one of my favorite bands. I also made a playlist of my favorite songs from every album started with Ocean Avenue. I call the playlist Yellowcard Forever. Here we are with a new song and an EP coming out, it brings me great joy. Welcome back guys, what a nice surprise.
My playlist starts from Still Standing until now. Those two albums from before Ryan was the lead singer don't count as Yellowcard.

So, my take from this is: As an adult you realize how your inner child holds you back, haunts, hurts or even "tortures" you. Not being able to fully love yourself and as a consequence not being able to find lasting, fulfilling relationships ("Love leaves me empty every time" / "I'm all alone at the altar now"). So, the ways how we we're teached love in our childhood, impacts how we love as adults. Thank you so much, guys. This one really hits home right now. Words can't express how grateful i am, that you guys are back. This band always has been something more than just a band for me. Your music means the world. 💛

This song and the entire EP gave me all the feels, it has such a great blend of Ocean Ave, Paper Walls and Southern Air. It’s been exactly 20 years since I found Yellowcard at the 2003 New Jersey warp tour. They have helped me through the good, bad and the challenges I had to overcome to get to where I’m at today. Can’t wait for the rest of the songs and hoping to see them in concert.
