Whenever I have attended Kishoriji programs Nandini Bedekar was there with her Nandinii's voice so similar to Kishoriji's that I could hardly recognise who is singing Nandini is great singer
such a wonderful piece; it would be great if it could be cleaned up. its also great how musicians develop teamwork when they become frail. Nissar Hussain Khan also went in that direction.
Nice video but audio has too much tabla and is too bassy with a lot of bass distortion. I wonder if it can be cleaned up. Also when the audio is analyzed in audio editing software it is very clear that it is highly compressed and lacks any dynamics which is quite a pity.

I would suggest a HiPass Filter at 200 htz would clear up the booming bass - this would smarten up the vocals as well but the dhagga on the bass table will suffer. Still well worth it I think. Apart from the HiPass filter at 200 htz I don't think attempts at anything else will be worth it.
+Anand Ketkar Many thanks for your suggestion - I will try it. I play the sitar and I do understand what a balanced tabla sound is -- anyways on this recording the voice is much more important than the tabla.

As artists grow older, they tend to take more and more incompetent accompanying students with them and convert the rendition of classical music to one of kirtan/qawali. Same applies for one ustad of Bengal. It ruins the raagrup.
I believe Kishoritai was exceptional. U will have to listen to her concerts carefully & patiently. She always allowed her Supporters to sing with full freedom, but later, her phrases & the rendering of Aalap used to be Touchwood every time. Bada Khyal gayiki with great stability & unfolding the delicate layers of Raaga precisely & to make it simple for learners was her greatest comand over the classical Music technic ( Asthayi Yantra). Continuously doing repeatations of different Aalap & creating environment of positive power were her greatest tools. Let suppoters sing any difficult phrase, she used to appreciate it but immediately she has rendered masterpieces which no one could even imagine of! that too every time in live concert. "Raag Vistar" is one of the important area where Kishoritai has created wonders with same Raag but every time in a totally new Avatar..! In her last few years, i feel she used to sing only for the Devine power she always surrender herself. It looks like whatever she got from devine, she tried to return it back thousands times more by worshipping through her Soulful Classical music. Kirtan, Quawali are always restricted to Taa ( Rhythm), where as Kishoritai never restricted her Swar( notes) to rhythm. Of course she took support of Rhythm to make her concerts more effective but not totally admitted to Rhythm.
That is extremely unfair of you to say. I mean you have no right to pass any judgements on Kishoritai's disciples. If only one person it is Kishoritai as a Guru who is qualified to judge her students. Just because you don't like something, does not mean it is of bad quality, remember this always, don't put yourself above everything else. You are nothing
