- Patrick Mahomes talked to reporters yesterday about how his high ankle sprain is rehabbing ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals. 'It's doing good; you know, a few days of treatment, a few days of rehab. Excited to get on the practice field and kind of test it out and see where I'm at. But it's feeling good so far..I felt better than I thought I was going to be after the game. Moving on it during the game definitely hurt but after the game, I was able to rest it and ice it up and do different stuff like that. I felt that I'm in a little better position...' I have a sister just like Bayless. When he projects Mahomes to be about 80% of optimal health...he's already laying the groundwork for saying that Mahomes (based upon Bayless' 80% health projection) has NO EXCUSE for not besting the Bengals, or even (if the Chiefs win the AFC) the NFC opponent, going forward. Bayless saw Mahomes hobbling around every play after the injury in the previous games, full well knows how uncertain and tenuous high ankle sprains can be...understands INTIMATELY how integral mobility is to Mahomes' game - hence, it's in Bayless' best interest to establish a narrative that Mahomes is fully fit to play...which would substantiate his (anticipated) argument that, should the Chiefs lose...Mahomes' ankle injury cannot be credibly regarded as having been a factor.
Seriously - the more I hear Bayless engage in narrative manipulation...the more I detest his engagement in what he poses as being "objective" analysis. Just the way I've had to call out my own sister for resorting to the same manipulations in her argument forms (and she ain't exactly my favorite person, either.)

As a 4 decade long Bengals fan, I have a true respect for the Chiefs and I believe this game could go either way honestly. I think Cincinnati is a better team right now but any given Sunday as they say. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I've been watching football for way too long, there's never a guarantee to win, ever!

This is where Mahomes loss of Tyreek and his growth is going to help him. They have been doing lower drop and faster progressions. They are going to need a big game from Pacheco, McKinnon and Watson. That 3 tight end set KC showed against Buffalo earlier this year should be utilized to slow down the Bengals rush, which has been outstanding recently with little to no blitzing.
Mahomes is already the best in the world by a good margin. He is what he is. He honestly doesn’t need to grow. That’s like saying a prime Aaron Rodgers or Peyton manning needs to grow

I think the key here will be Andy Reid's offensive gameplan. He needs to retool it to accommodate the injury. Screens, quick passes, and lots of Pacheco. The defense HAS to exploit the Bengals' depleted oline.

You can tell skip never played sports at a high level being hurt and living a everyday life that’s one thing but being hurt and trying to play sports is different and playing at a high level it’s hard to play on a hurt ankle and a toe that’s painful.
A rolled ankle does not heal in 4-5 days. He needs 15 at least to be 75%
