  • Death and Rebirth: What Did the Buddha Teach About the Cycle of Rebirth?
    #rebirth #buddha #death
What does it mean to "comprehend" birth as an instance of suffering? And what is accomplished by viewing it in that way?
The Buddha often compared all suffering to the acts of clinging and feeding: acts inherently stressful not only for those clung to and fed upon, but also for those who, through the disease of hunger (Dhammapada 203), keep needing to cling and feed.
In fact, for the Buddha, feeding and clinging are virtually one and the same. The Pali word for clinging - upadana - also means fuel or sustenance and the act of taking sustenance from fuel. In his explanation of how a fire burns, for instance, the fire feeds itself by clinging to its fuel - an image he also used to illustrate how rebirth happens through the process of clinging to craving:
"But, Master Gotama, at the moment a flame is being swept on by the wind and goes a far distance, what do you designate as its clinging/sustenance then?"
"Vaccha, when a flame is being swept on by the wind and goes a far distance, I designate it as wind-sustained, for the wind is its clinging/sustenance at that time."
"And at the moment when a being sets this body aside and is not yet born in another body, what do you designate as its clinging/sustenance then?"
"Vaccha, when a being sets this body aside and is not yet born in another body, I designate it as craving-sustained, for craving is its clinging/sustenance at that time."

Yes. Dependent (Pati/resistance-Icca) co-origination (smuppada) is a process that happens from moment to moment.

The Original Buddha Doctrine is different from these
" Hindu/Jain" derived concepts, that are being spread all over the world, by people who have not entered the Path. That is why the Buddha reiterated that one should teach only after entering the Path.
There is widespread teachings and talks on suffering, without the basics being understood.
Suffering or sadness is DUKA. Duka or suffering being the primary problem and eradication of which is considered by many to be the primary objective in the Buddhist Doctrine. Whereas the concept of Duka existed long before the birth of the Buddha amongst the followers of Hindu and Vedic faiths. The presence of sadness or suffering is obvious in the world in different stages and periods of life.
What the Buddha discovered was the concept of Dukkha, being an obstacle to the Path to Nibbana. Dukkha is a sequence of events that constitute the arising and formation of a thought ( Bhawa ) which is followed by another new thought ( Punar Bhawa ). Dukkha constitutes Rupa. Vedana. Sañña. Sankara. Viññana. which is the sequence of events leading to the formation of a thought.
The Buddha spoke of ANATTA, which is basic in His Doctrine. It means NO SOUL. No me. No I. Which means there is NO person, except the senses - from smell. Sight. Hearing. Taste. Touch, Mind and memory.
In the Dev DAHA Sutta, He Categorically states " If anyone says that, what one endures is a consequence of previous actions " that is NOT the Buddha Doctrine, but is Niganta (Hindu) doctrine. VERY CLEAR.
    -The Buddha-
Bhawa means one thought. PUNAR Bhawa means the next new thought. Therefore it is the thought that follows one after the other.
Therefore it is obvious that there is no me/l/ person to be reborn.
The thoughts follow in a sequence and there is no KAMMA as described by the Hindu/ Jain faith, where there is reward on one hand and punishment or damnation on the other, as is the case in Christianity. This concept of damnation is questionable and will NOT last with intellectual dialogue.
The Original Buddha Doctrine, before it was mixed with the Hindu faith, is Supra-mundane and Supra-cortical. Even the concept of Anicca and Anatta is at the level of Quantum mechanics and sub-atomic particles. When a body or any object is dissected to the last of the material form, it is correctly called Dhamma after which it is a non-material aspect and no form called “ information “.
Not these mundane false concepts such as rebirth of the person. Do your research and enter the Path, through " Cheto VIMUKTHI" which one could follow Dr. Gamini Abhaya MD. FRCP. Consultant Physician/Cardiologist with NO fee, through “ Denageneemen Nivanata “ via the Internet. Until one enters the Path to Nibbana, by entering the first stage ( Sowahn) it is incorrect to teach or preach, which is like BLIND LEADING THE BLIND.
About time people used their own intellect without believing hearsay.

“ Bhawa niridho nibbanam “ means eradication of the thought process, is the key to enter the Path to nibbana.
The thoughts follow in a sequence and there is no KAMMA as described by the Hindu/ Jain faith, where there is reward on one hand and punishment or damnation on the other, as is the case in Christianity. This concept of damnation is questionable and will last with intellectual dialogue.

On the contrary, Buddha’s Teachings are correctly called “ Buddha Doctrine “ or Buddha wachanaya or the Buddha’s Teaching.
One has to stop the process of Bhawa and Punar Bhawa to enter the Path through Pragna and subsequently reach the stage of Dhamma. Thereafter one sees Buddha and Nibbana.
Difficult to fathom, but it is a process believed to follow as steps automatically, after stopping the thought process, through relentless effort.
The Buddha spent 6 long years doing meditation and found it to be futile, where he collapsed many times due to starvation and extreme emaciation. He realized that nutrition was important for all mental and physical activities. Thereafter he left the 5 colleagues and did the reverse of meditation, which was not concentrating or being mindful of any thoughts. He left the world of being in the mind and entered the Path. That must be obvious to any intelligent person, as the incessant7 mental activity is the enemy to the Path of Nibbana.
Not these mundane false concepts such as rebirth of the person.

Don't listen to the Sutra you will never be able to attain the true benefits.
    What is the true benefits?
True benefits is the Buddha's Dharma.
    What is Buddha's dharmas?
Buddha's dharmas is the truth about of our life and our universe.
Life refers to ourselves, and universe refers to our surrounding.
What is the truth about our life and our surrounding?
"Phenomena are empty in nature and nothing can be had ".
This is the foundation of Buddha's dharmas, the truth about our life and our surrounding.
The Buddha already awakened to the truth and he has the proofs to show us. Therefore, without doubt, we can believe what the Buddha said.
After learning Buddhism for infinite lifetimes, we are still not awaken.
Even the lowest level of awakening about the birth and death, we are still unaware of.
We have not understand the seriousness of birth and death.
    This is really pitiful.

      Wait. Where are the proofs?
What buddha said almost 2500 years ago has been distorted over time.
This man who taught more than 2500 years ago is to teach people how to be happy and not bring more suffering upon themselves. Whether you are born again, is irrelevant. How you live this present moment is more important than how you be reborn in the future.

Is it not possible that someone must have inserted all this on his own to make people believe in rebirth in SN. Why nobody beside Buddha could see rebirth. Why even the Dalai Lama is not telling about his past birth?
