- Today I'm comparing the Lotus mouthpieces 1M, 1LB, and 2XL! I wanted to play some different exercises back to back, seeing how differently each mouthpiece feels and sounds. HERE WE GO!

To me, the 1LB sounds best - a good compromise between the shallower M and the larger XL. I have a 3L and a 7L2 on the way and I'm going to send one of them back, depending which I like more.

I’m not sure if you can give some advise but I got a lotus 2L coming from a Bach 3C which I really enjoy playing on but oddly, notes above third space c with the 2L just don’t come out unlike my 3C
That’s really interesting. I don’t want to make any assumptions about your playing without hearing you, so this is just generic advice. I would say to be sure you aren’t overcompensating with pressure (or even air) as you navigate the horn. Optimize the air compression and center of pitch consistently. OR it’s always possible it’s not the right size for you. I recently switched to the 2M and it’s a magical combination for me! If the advice above doesn’t land for you, let me know more specifically what you’re struggling with!

They have some great pieces!
May have been your style of play or maybe it was the mouthpieces, but I did not like any of them. Sounded much too wispy, like your embouchure was leaking air. I like hard slots and sharp articulation and only the 1M came close, though the tone quality on the 2XL was overall the best. All three a no for me. I'd like to see you try out the new Unity by Monette and maybe Warburton or other very loved or hated mouthpieces.
