Mom lives in Tennessee in a log cabin at the end of a ridge overlooking a valley and stream below. My dad, my brothers, and I all built that cabin by hand. Mom heats with a wood stove. Deer and turkey in abundance. Closest neighbor is 2 miles away. Nearest cell signal is about 2 or 3 miles away. Love that place. Heaven on earth. Dad loved the place.Said he talked to God more in them woods than in any church he'd ever stepped foot in, What I'd give to end each day on that porch watching my kids run through the woods. Seems like 1,000 miles away from where i am now. Gotta change that some day soon. This song starts a movie of memories going in my mind that i wish would play on forever.

My grand parents live the same way. It's a one horse town that has three churches that everyone walks to on Sunday.They never lock the doors so if a neighbor needs something they just leave a note on the table. Trust? That term has almost been erased from America, we now live in the city and say that will never happen to us? Were the next generation that will rewrite the text books. Someone stole the brass urn from my fathers grave. Times indeed have changed.
10 mos. Ago I arrived back in my home town to see my brother in the hospital bed kept breathing by machines, saying goodbye over a 10 day period, taken long before his time. Heard Faith and Tim sing this song and I could not hold back the tears, it made me think of my brother and the great times we had "back at mamas". Thanks for the memories.

Too many memories to share. Spent the summers on the grandparents' farm. Picking strawberries in the day and roaming the forest in the twilight. Grandma's rhubarb pie and making strawberry preserves. Getting up with Grandpa at 5 am and listening to his music on the radio. I never knew what kind of Country it was until I heard the Carter family years later.
They are gone now but I'll never forget.

I didn’t grow up with something like this. But I pray that I can provide this feeling to my kids if I ever have any.
If and when you have children, make these memories by what you do. Raise them sternly but fairly, take time (no matter what) out of your busy schedule for them. Ask them how their day went and listen with both ears, (good parents mean well, but forget to ask). They will relate to these lyrics automatically.

This song is comforting and brings back good memories. I'm from a small country town in Virginia. Population was 1600 people. I've been in the city for over 20yrs, I'm ready to go back home.
Tim Mcgraw is an absolute genius. This is the only true country song I have heard in a very long time. This song proves that he is definitely one of the best country artists of all time. He can sing fun county songs like Truck Yeah and passive upbeat pop songs like Lookin For That Girl and still do real country music at the same time. Genius. Never seen another artist pull that off and be successful at the same time. I hope to see Tim making music till the day he passes away and I hope that when i have kids that they will enjoy his music and grow up listening to Tim.

I was born and raised in the city. Lived in Miami until I moved out. Moved to the country. I must confess, I didn't like it at first. But boy, now you can't pay me enough to move back to any city, pick one, not happening. There's nothing better to me than living in the country among its people, always smiling and courteous. Love it!
I think the fact that Faith is in it and it's not just someone playing his wife makes this 100 times better there is actuall love there and her voice is just so soothing and angelic...They are just perfect

It's so hard to pick a favorite Tim-Faith duet, but the gentleness, intimacy, universality, and nostalgia this song brings is so unbeatable. And so fitting for where they are right now in their life and marriage. I really wished they would have performed this song for Soul2Soul this year, but you can't sing all of them.

Country music, like lots of other music genre's have lost that feeling they once had. It seems EVERY country song today is some guy singing about his jacked up truck & getting girls. But not Tim Mcgraw, he's pretty oldschool :) need more people like him.

I moved from my little hometown of 500 people in Missouri to Nashville TN 5 and a half years ago. I was 15 and loved it. Thought I hated that small town. I’m now 20 and moved back a month ago. And I couldn’t be happier. I grew up in 40 acres that my grandma owned. We sold it when we moved right after she passed. The day it comes up for sale I will find the money. I never thought I would come back but after me and my fiancé got engaged I realized all I wanted to do was go home and get married and raise my new family. And him being the country boy that he is hated the city and was upset I moved him there (he lived south of Nashville) and it’s been rough being on our own but we are making it. All that matters is that we are home and gonna own my grandmas place one day. This song is my life.

One night singing one of your songs (It's Your Love), someone from upstairs in the Holiday Inn came down to the bar and told me they got excited hearing the song and came down to see if it was really you singing. This song brings back great memories. My mom and I used to sit together in a craft room that also had the washer and dryer in it, and listen to Faith Hill, or tons of other country music. But I always and still to this day remember all the words to Mississippi Girl, since that was my favorite. And this song even adds to the memories because it resembles the simple but sad life I've had. Moving states is the worst thing a young child with best friends could have happening in their life.
Was listening to this driving down the freeway in southern California and had to pull over because of how much my face was covered in tears.
I was reunited with my momma after 15 years. It was the best day of my life. The first thing she said to me was please come home. I came home and left behind a house and a good paying job just to reunite with my momma

I used to not care that much for country music until about 7 years ago when I met my now wife and she loves county music! Then I found this song and not only did it bring up memories of her life growing up in the mountains of TN but it also brought memories to me when I went off to college and would come home to the porch light on knowing my mom and dad would always have a spot at the dinner table for me and a bed to sleep on when I’d visit! From what I could surmise, the meaning of this song is that he CAN live on a big ole farm, but in his heart he chooses his humble beginnings over it all. "Back at Mama's" is where he finds his peace. We all have that place we would trade everything in the world to have back. When I listen to this song, I can't help but count my blessings. ✌️
This reminds me of when I would go to my Grandma's house in middle of pretty much nowhere in Stanley, Wisconsin. No highway noise like in the city where I live, no planes, open fields, nice breeze, sun glimpsing through the trees, no wifi to worry about other things, just me, my mom, and my grandma in a location the furthest I have been from modern technology and civilization. I'm really hurting right now, because my grandma doesn't live there anymore, and we are packing up her house to be sold. I just wanna go back😭

This song takes me way back. To a simpler time on the farm taking care of the cows,horses, etc. with my grandpa. I didn't much enjoy the work then but looking back now, I would give anything to do something else one more time with my grandpa.

You are absolutely right! ☺️ I grew up in the city, moved to the country when I was 32 and my biggest wish is that I had grown up in the country. It's the most beautiful, tranquil and comforting place in the world and I love that my neighbours are horses and cows. No one should ever miss the feeling that only the country allows. And funny enough...it keeps people humble and kind.💕

This song hit the airwaves right after I moved out to LA...this and Jason Aldean's "Flyover States" would knock the air right out of me. First time I heard it, I had to pull off onto the side of Forest Lawn off Ventura Freeway and just bawl my eyes out. Whenever I heard it after that, I'd sing along driving through the heavy LA traffic and smoggy-sunshine and cement everywhere....and God, how my heart would break every single time. Shoulda known I'd never make it out there in the long-run...I missed home too much. Always grateful I ended up "back at mama's" where life is just plain simpler and more meaningful. Life is all about being surrounded by the folks who you love most.
