As I sit here and listen to this, I cry. I've stood in all that sadness and frustration for many years. One of the most difficult things in my life has been "To let it go". Never thought I would be able to do so. But I have. If you're going through this, know you are much stronger than you believe you are and you are NOT alone.Hanging on to all of it is like carrying a bag of rocks around with you. When you let go of those rocks, you will feel the freedom of the weight. My hopes for those of you going down this painful road is that you find a soft place to fall until you can "let it go". Its about taking all of your pain sadness frustration fears etc all the negativity that may be in your life and let it go. Life is so much more than just pain and sadness. When you remember it take the lessons from it and discard the negativity and move on with the lessons youve learned. There is always something positive in all the negative. You just have to look at it from a different perspective.

The way Chester Bennington describe depression is like being in a corner by yourself and don’t want to talk to anyone and just die there.
If you think depression is a joke then you’re wrong. It’s not like people want depression. They’ll be trying for months to find a way out but they can’t.
For those people who are struggling, just remember Earth is about 4.543 billion years old and some how you managed to stick around when Chester was alive.

Several months ago I almost committed suicide.
A week later my fiance bailed because he couldn't handle it.
A week after that the arches in my feet collapsed, an unfortunate & unexpected occurrence stemming from the genetic connective tissue disorder I inherited. Standing is agony & walking a joke to even consider.
Really all of my joints are giving out but those in my feet are the worst.
As a level of depression I have not known for years started creeping back, all of my "friends" showed their true colors and ghosted me.
Fast forward to now and a pandemic is upon us, forcing me to self quarantine in order to maintain the health of my elderly yet toxic and emotionally abusive parents.
Recently (and miraculously) I found the will to live again. And not to just exist, but to better myself so that my existence is as non miserable as possible.
Despite my newfound will to survive this bitch called clinical depression, I still find myself battling the overwhelming sensation that my entire life has been one giant failure.
I often feel like I'm at my wit's end, and don't know what to do...with that having been said, it saddens me to hear of other fellow human's heart aches. But I find it very comforting to listen to music with messages like this (as well as LP's songs in general, they're so relatable!) and to read everyone's comments and to know that I am not alone.
Every cloud has its silver lining. I'm still looking for this one's. In the meantime I am able to help calm myself by listening to pieces like this one.
Stay strong everyone: it might not feel like it sometimes, but this battle called life is worth fighting for.
Edit: welp, this is way longer than I thought it would be. Props to those of you who made it all the way to the end and didn't give up a paragraph or two in haha
Edit #2: a month later and I am finally able to see this cloud's silver lining. My fiance was nothing more than a selfish creep, I can't believe I wanted to bind myself for life to someone like him. All he was was a fair-weather fiance looking to see what he could get out of the relationship, not what he could give or what we could share. Massive bullet dodged!!

And on that last note, I'd like to add: sometimes, we just don't give ourselves enough credit, and think we're the ones in the wrong. Lo and behold, he who left you wound up being a blessing in disguise. That worked out for the better. I truly believe one of the most powerful pieces of knowledge a person can possess, is the knowledge of what is right, what is wrong, and how to see both in not only ourselves, but also others.

You hit the nail on the head with the part about being able to recognize right and wrong in both ourselves and others... This band was my shelter and shield in the hardest moments of my life. I was alone being just a kid, and I remember that a friend gave me some Linking Park's CD's as a gift and I just listened their music every night untill I fell sleep. Now that is just a memory but their music will be always in my heart.

2 years ago, I have lived really bad moments (my mom has passed away because of Lou Gehrig’s disease and I had anxiety and very bad thoughts). I used to listen to this music, I recognised myself through the lyrics and I think it helped me to get away through all the bad shit which happened to me. If you read this message, you are stronger than you think, and if you aren’t well right now, I really hope you will get well soon 🙏🏻 (sorry if my English isn’t well, I am French and I’m still learning this language 😅)

I've only been listening to L.P. for a year or so. People think I can be depressing but I find it uplifting!!. came out of a relationship, badly, but when you know your not the only person in this puzzle called life hurting, you can find the strength to pull through!!. I hope Chester knew what he gave the world!!. An important, and distinguished part of the history of .music
I've been dealing with depression for more than 3 years and whenever I'm here listening to this masterpiece, it helped me to let it go .
Now I'm reminded of my grandpa, who passed away last November.

And now Chester's death just adds a whole new layer to it. I am going to try to listen to it again, and hopefully let go the way he couldn't. A truly depressed person may not always show signs. It's best to help prevent its possibility in the first place by just being friendly to everyone. You can start by sending a message to a relative or a friend every once in a while. Just check on them. See how their doing. Don't wait for them to start the conversation. You start it because then it shows them that you were already thinking about them, and they didn't have to bring themselves into your mind. It shows that they were already in your mind. I wish people would do that with me more often. I feel sad when I realize I'm the only one starting all the conversations.

This song saved my life when i was 19. Many many years later i find myself feeling like i once did though not as prominent.
This pandemic definitely heightened my loneliness, sadness and depression however. Coupled with this and having to deal with other things in life that's further taking a toll on me mentally, it's just hard, and understatement at best as i've been feeling this for too long.
Reading the comments and seeing others go through this sucks too, we all share some semblance of misery together and it's not a good thing. I am just so tired.. mentally of having to endure and survive this unrelenting torment.
I hope Chester found his light, and all that he was yearning for. He saved millions of lives with his lyrics and songs. I hope you're resting easy legend. Thank You for songs like this and many many others.

I remember the first time I heard this. I was in grade 7. I felt extremely miserable and sad. People around me verbally destroyed me because of how I looked and I could never get a girlfriend. When I was on my ipod and heard iridescent for the first time, I cried my eyes out like never before because I can relate to every single word spoken in the song. Just listening to this gave me hope but also made me break down in tears. Listening to it now after the news of chester's death makes me cry even more. Goodbye chester. so first it was my mom and dad when I was 2 they broke up my mom found another guy lets call him jake? he has 2 sons 1 of them are a year older than me so we are realy close then when I was 8yrs old I heard them fighting and I texted my closest step brother cause he was with his om I said we are never gonna see eachother again he said no don't say that wdym? I told him they where fighting he said oh keep your hopes up we will see eachoth trust me I was like ok... then he didn't come to our house neither did jake and my mom had a girl with him she was 3 when that happen I asked her why isn't he coming anyore she said we are fighting right now I said oh.... and next day my lil sis was with her dad I was with my mom we park infront of our house and my mom calls jake saying who the f*** is (lets name her Emily) is Emily who is she she was crying and yelling Ik what was going on he cheated on her.... I got out of the car walk up the mountain started crying kicking rocks yelling say I wish I had a good family …. then I go in the house my mom is on the couch doesn't feel anything I asked her if she wanted me to make anything she said im not hungry I said ok... after that they broke up me and my sis swich of days to go with my dad and her dad for a week and a week with my mom then I remember her saying its just going to be the 3 of us now ok? I said ok.. and 4 years later my mom meets a guy im 11 and he was really nice (lets name him mark) I trusted him he has a lot of kids 6 he has so I was connected woth them I got attached I loved them 5 were girls 1 was a boy nd 1 year later there still dateing then it was my moms friends wedding we go to it and everyones dancing you know its a wedding my mom was dancing I think mark got offended with her dancing with girls and guys and they were talking about an hour outside of the wedding and my mom comes no me and my sis said get your stuff were leaveing and she was crying her eyes are red I started crying the second ik they were breaking up … and he took our car and left his car my lil sis said let go in his car my moms like that's not mine then we had to take a taxi I told my mom I thought he was good to you she said I thought so too.. we were crying together my sis has no idea whats going on my mom droped my sis off with her dad then me last I went sright to my room crying hard my dad said whats wrong and my step mom I told them they tried to cheer me up but I felt horrible and idk what else I didn't get ut of bed the next day I went with my mom cause it was her birthday so we hung out and some reason mark was there and the kids the oldest girl said I miss u I said I miss you too I love her she helps me out always and they started dateing again... that's didn't last long
December they broke up (it was octorber when they first broke up) and I said I don't trust him I hate him but I went to the older sisters school so I still get to see her and months past its april pandemic happened no school its august we go back to school and I was waiting and waiting for her but she wasn't on A day like me she was on B day so I said ok ill go to my lil sis school cause she has to pick up her lil sis to After school I was waiting then I see her cross steet I go to her she nods her head I said hi! she said "stop don't talk to me leave me alone" said I didn't do anything she ignored me I went home crying I don't know what I did wrong I told my mom she said it had to be mark he prob told them not to talk to me I want to go up to him and slap him but he rlly tall and strong so I cant and Idk what to feel anymore and I also lost my dog on 4th of july so when I lost her I said out loud "WHAT MORE COULD I LOSE PLS NO MORE...." and im 12 now and so much has happened she still wont talk to me she said to me the next day she said "you can delete my number you know " I said I don't have it that phone broke he said "good" I was like idk why you mad at me but ill accept it we stoped talking there if she hurts me I will say this I went to this school for u ive taken care of all ur sister I showed love I was there for you I supported you I cheered you up you were my step sis and this is what I get back??? bye don't expect me saying sorry or talking to you again that it guys thx for listening this long sry if it was too long -.- but yea.....

2011 was a turning point in my life this song summed up what I was going through my cousin I find out that my cousin died, my Mother got married, I had to move outta the apartment where I was living my best friend went to college. I had no Idea were my real Dad was at the time. I lived with family about five months. I moved to the wrong part of town.
This song saved my life today. I hust wanted to say how grateful i am abuot it

I miss Linkin Park more than they will ever know. They were an important part of my life. I wish Chester could have found the comfort his music gave me.
I listened to him sing after my daughter passed away and although it brought tears to my eyes it helped me know I wasn't alone.
I pray he isn't alone now, I hope he is with my Winter and that his music will comfort my little girl until I'm with her once more. Xxxx

been listening to linkin park since I was a little kid and god, their songs hit so much closer to home throughout highschool; each one helped me get through a lot & made me feel like I wasn’t alone. heard this track recently for the first time in ages and it made me want to cry. it fits so perfectly now, right after graduating highschool and days before I move out of my hometown. so much happened in the past 4 years, there were so many times where giving in to depressive or suicidal thoughts seemed like the greatest option, but it’s over. it’s finally time to let everything that has happened here go, and to look forward for a happier future.
I wish I could tell chester how much of an impact all of linkin park’s music has had on myself & countless others :,) may he rest in peace
