A friend of mine has the same transmission in a grain truck. I took some corn to the mill and it had to go to an overflow building. Had one of the kids from the mill showing me where to put it. Backing in the building I put it in low and the kid was getting huffy about how slow the truck was. I started shifting gears going backwards he looked at me like I was crazy. It was great.
I just wanted to let you know I'm a mechanic by profession but I have a passion for earth moving and have a dump truck, excavator and skid steer that I use only for volunteer work around my community. You channel is the perfect blend of working on equipment and using equipment for my every day life. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming, even if they are 3 months late.
Travis, I am looking to do the same thing as you. I enjoy the work and enjoy helping others. I have acquired a dump truck and trailer so far and am working on getting my first piece of equipment. Do you operate as a Non-Profit or do you strictly do it all pro bono? Would love to talk with you about your journey so far.
“The History Channel”. Now that’s funny. 😂 I don’t care when you make them, when you post them they’re brand new to me and they’re my favorite. By the way, a Mack was my first truck too.
Momma says stick with what you know. I think you made a great choice for you and your business. Probably not a priority but your attack stacks are always cool. Shine On!
You're one of the few YT'ers that run Mack trucks and they seem to be reliable. Anything that has gone wrong you've been able to fix yourself without needing to take it to the dealer.
You really have to respect a man who came up working. And now that Mike is the owner -boss he still gets in there and gets his hands dirty. I really enjoy watching this channel.
Thanks for introduction of the new Mack / little Dan. I fully understand and agree with you that Lieutenant Dan is a novelty. But it sure would be glad to see it on the job site earning his keep. Again, thank you for the video of the new Mack. It’s amazing how much you can get done by yourself.
Congratulations Mike!!! So happy to hear and see you got a truck that's been cared for! Love these videos about servicing and fixing, when a rig gets its well deserved care.
Hope we get to see You and MBTS finish all the "knick-knack" stuff on the cool new truck, plus a big shout out to Clint at C&C Equipment, who through a number of other channels does a lot of good things for a lot of people, not least his latest benevolence - a full tool kit give away (that is, after a year's hard out work with them by him and Kevin) - my only lament is I live half a world away! Great video as usual Mike, looking forward to your spring / summer works program and seeing You, Jerry Matt, and Aaron back at it again!
Actually, Lt Dan does have a useful niche application if you run into a situation out in the woods building a pond or something where Bubba Dump won't fit or can't turn around easily. Lt Dan could pick up the slack perfectly on those on site haul jobs in tight quarters. Not to mention you can drive Lt Dan over the road to the jobs.
Not coming here to say you’re wrong, but I thought I might mention - Bubba Dump can drive itself to the job too😂😂😂Ask me how I know🤣🤣Those suckers can move out in high gear - watch out for the bumpy roads though, people get a little freaked out when they start bouncing😂😂
@@wesleyfranzen6675 Technically, yes, Bubba Dump can drive to job sites, but if Officer Hoover catches wind of it, he'd probably have a few words with Mike, is my guess. Plus, for short distances, OK, I can see it, but if you have a job 10 or 20 miles away, you're not even going to consider driving Bubba there over the road.
Hello from the Netherlands. Nice new (to you) truck to the Dirt Perfect fleet . I envision a "Dirt Perfect" plate or truck nameplate appearing on that front bumper. I think that place is crying out to be able to carry a nice plate thanks for the video DP. Sincerely Hollandduck
She's a nice truck Mike and good that you have friends like Clint looking out for you at these events. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the maintenance on this truck.. As for name... I was thinking maybe "Auction Tim" lol (as in auction time.. but minus the e.. to reflect its background)
I think you found a diamond in the rough Mike. All those trucks you looked at in the auction sure didn't stand up to well. Clint found you a winner. Hope it works for a long time. Enjoyed seeing you go through the whole truck and explaining what you are looking for. Enjoy the new ride.
I love an old Mack. I drove a CH613 for a while. 18 speed, it was awesome! As far as a paint job, it’s gonna make you money by working, not sitting at a car show. It is a sweet truck Mike!! Congrats!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Nice to finally get to see the new truck. Looking forward to seeing it in use for many years to come. Looks like a good addition to the fleet. Wishing you and your family the best.
Sharp looking mack for its age. I just bought a pre emissions 02 Kenworth tri axle as well. Im very happy with the truck. I used to drive this model mack, one of the toughest trucks out there.
Congratulations on the new truck. Glad you were able to find a truck that will fill your needs for the next few years. Enjoy your videos!! Keep'im coming!!
I understand your posting schedule, it works the same for me at least your not posting videos from October in April like me 😂. Nice truck. If I ever get into bigger projects That would be on my shopping list
☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸Morning Boyo, nice sensible buy! Love those big dogs myself, they make the nicest rumblings❤️ What folks don’t get is Dan has ALWAYS been your “ get away from it all, extra cash”project. Blessings upon ya hard being where the buck stops .
Well from way down here it is looking like a good auction buy and a big thanks to Clinton for staying behind and winning the auction bro. Look forward to see you and Aaron getting it ready for work. Safe travels
Great video Mike, this Mack is a great addition to the family. Still has a lot of availability for you. Thanks for sharing. More videos to share soon. Have a great day.
Congratulations Mike. I am glad you found yourself a nice truck. I little tender care and she will last a long time. Thansks for sharing and have a great Sunday.
Nice job Clint, great find. That was awesome. Got Lucky, glad he was there. Great paint job... Scary of what maybe underneath. Thanks DP for showing us the service after a new to you purchase and what to look for.👍 God bless. Ps. Can't wait too see Lt. Dan in the fleet. I understand priority first. I'll wait 😢😂
With what you've explained about training and knowledge and experience working on this particular truck sounds like an outstanding justification for picking this make and model. Like all vehicles they're going to break down sooner or later. Congratulations!
Hobbies are the best time wasters and money spinners - Lt Dan will wait for 'history' to be made. The Mack is a huge improvement and will be a valuable addition to the fleet. Remarkably clean too.
C&C equipment is a great channel and a stand up guy he’s earned my respect looks like a great truck should last you a long time thanks for sharing You probably already know but you can adjust the steering stops to get a little better turning out of it they never turn sharp enough at factory set
I like your explanation about why you went with this Mack truck. Back in th3 60s and 70s, my Uncle was service supervisor at Capitol Mack/GMC in Baton Rouge. He really loved Mack trucks!
As for the truck came out of Florida don't forget the freeze protection on the engine coolant as well as ph. Love the clean chassis and undercarriage. I fought the rust and corrosion of the north for my entire career.
Looks to be in great condition for a truck of its age and should serve you well ! As you said beds at that ages are usually time expired ! You can always get a new bed for it in a year or two ! :)
Something to consider when you're putting your signs on your truck, also put the tons you want the quarry loader to load in your truck. Place the amount you want on the top corner of the bed so the loader operator can see it. I recognize trucks easy enough but never remember the tonnage they want. Tri axle want anywhere from 17 ton to 20 ton with one guy hauling 24 ton. Even the tandem guys haul from 15 ton up to 18 ton with 15.5 being normal. Them you've got the aluminum beds coming in and they want something else. Not everyone has radios
Holy cow what a time jump, from winter to start of spring. :) You might be behind in time but I appreciate that you not only put out a video but read and sometimes answer the comments. Thank you. Thank you for shairng and have a good week. PS You have to recharge the fire extinguisher. 🙃
A dirt contractor I know used to log also. He had a Mack dump truck that he had log gear for. Sometimes it would be a log truck, and other times it would be a dump truck. It’s name was Bulldog. It fit the truck perfectly. Great video. I also like your mix of shop time and site time. It keeps things interesting.
That *IS* a great looking truck & looks NEW! AND, best to you with it and we'll see a lot of it going forward. You look good driving your new TOY and keep in mind (as others should do), you're a big boy, know the WORKINGS of this machine and if it fills your needs you WIN. Not really sure why you have to JUSTIFY YOURSELF! Good luck!
Worked on fleet of R model tri-Xs. That Xmember on the pusher and the Mack Xmember behind the cab were frequently repaired/replaced. Figured out that the pusher was high centering even in the up position (deadheaded) when greedy job foremen were using them as site trucks at 1 1/2 times capacity. Started using smaller diameter tires that were still rated enough for the 13.6K axle. Seemed to help. Great videos.
Nice truck! The metal cab was stamped out in the plant I used to work at in Shadyside Ohio CVG and final assembly in Kings Mtn NC. Florida trucks are nice, very little rust. Enjoy!
Glad to see the new truck has been delivered. I saw Clinton’s video from the auction and have been waiting to see it show up. Looks like you got a gem there, especially for its age. Look forward to seeing “Mack Daddy “ getting used!
Great video, looks like you found a real solid truck. I operate a small fleet of mostly Mack trucks, mostly purchased from the auction. You lucked out, seems like I always have to do rear trunions right off the bat. Same process, I like to spend at least an hour under them and change all the fluids while I make my list of what needs fixed. Keep it up, great content, I like all the camera angle on the drive home.
Nice truck. I recently retired from Tennessee department of transportation and I drove a 2021 Mack granite quad. It had the same exact transmission in it. I loved it
It’ll be interesting to see the maintenance and mods you preform especially transmission shifter and Jake brake repairs. Best of luck with your new addition to the fleet!
Very neat truck. As for a name, being an Aussie I immediately went to Slim Dusty. Married to my bulldog Mack, Pushin’ time, bent axle bob, dieseline dreams. Major McQueen (his wife) could be an idea
About time you got something more practical as a replacement for little Red. It really is hard to find good used equipment. Took me almost 1.5 years to find my F350 Dually with the 7.3L. But well worth the wait. The MAC is in really good condition for its age and for having come from Florida. Congrats on the find. Thanks for sharing.
I think you should call it Forrest Dump! LOL or Mack Daddy, that would be good too. I about spit out my coffee when you said the history channel, Way too funny. Have a great day Mike!
you finly got it. this was my play on you being slow and at the start of geting on here and i go back to watching and you start talking about it. lol . my dad did this typ of work i did youto i bet he would have bin just like you on youto all so. oh how i miss him. thanks for doing what you do so i can watch and think of him
"Snow White" looks very much like she will fit the slot ÿou needed to fill. When the Grumpy dwarf is able to stroke her with his welding skills she will ready to go! This addition may not require as much repair as Bubba Dump; but, I see satisfactory results that will have a profitable return. Good job. Thanks Clint!
Not a bad truck, walker beams in good shape, if that's a self adjustment clutch you can tell the wear by to gauge wear they have on them which makes it nice for clutch wear thanks for the video
Clint has a great auction eye. I sold utility trucks for the power line contractors. They didn’t want new but they wanted it to go to work and be dialectical safe when they hit a job sight. When they have to put men up a 100 feet they want a great boom which I worked for Altec and a stable truck for that boom. People don’t understand what tough stress that boom puts on the frame so the section modulates had to be as strong as if I was putting a dump bed on the truck. That’s what contractors liked when they bought equipment from me because I considered myself as the contractor customer. Once you proved yourself they depended on me to fill their needs because they work hard for their money. This is why I love Dirt Perfect.
@ 16:43 I'm 70 in 5 days, and to be honest I really hope I can live long enough to watch you and your adult son build that together. My brother got to help our dad build a couple projects and I was too young to join in, then my dad got ousted from his position. So you do what you have to do, I totally understand your position.
I just wanted to tell you how much I like your channel, you take care of your equipment fine and you explain how you are doing it. Thank you. I have learned how to stabilize the ground for a lake or for a house.
I worked at a Mack dealership in the early 2000s great job loved it I specialized in transmission repair nothing more beefier than the Mack tranny .I notice when you were checking the rear end fluid you did not check the top section.reason being the bottoms appear over full . That could mean the top section leaking down into the bottom through the two mounting bolts on the inside of the top section something to keep an eye on . I am a R model fan myself good luck with the new puppy love you guys
It's nice to have friends in the Business that knows equipment ,and will steer you in the right direction in buying the right piece for the right price ,and you can trust them
Must of been the light, down at the station the driver's front tire looked cupped, but didn't see it here in the garage. The two cheapest forms of maintenance is; oil, grease and filters! I'm shocked that you didn't find at least one plugged grease fitting. The ones on the bottom of the lift cylinders of my Case 450B dozer have to be taken off, almost every time and cleaned out. I will say, It's a good look'n truck! Great video Mike! Thanks, Lee
We have three of those old dogs in our fleet, two as straight trucks and one as a tractor. Bought em new and run em in the oilfield since day one, still solid reliable trucks today. Only problem we have is the electrical for the dash. Not the fanciest truck out their but nothing takes a beating like a mack, great off road truck.
Nice addition to your collection, you know what you want, that’s all that counts.good video as always.just keep doing what your doing and thinking and carry on.👍👍👍😎😎😎
A friend of mine has the same transmission in a grain truck. I took some corn to the mill and it had to go to an overflow building. Had one of the kids from the mill showing me where to put it. Looks like ya got a good truck there. Be watching to see it in the dirt!
You won’t find a better auction truck. Got confused on those rears. Then I figured out they’re top-loaders. Nice puppy dog.
Thanks, Lee
Good luck with your new truck. Looks good so far
Cousin Mike has a fire going on his channel. No fires here.......Nice buy
Nice addition to your collection, you know what you want, that’s all that counts.good video as always.just keep doing what your doing and thinking and carry on.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Loved the dual rear axle short wheel base mack powerful truck always wanted to own one
