Unicorn rifle is a late production Type 38 with a chrome lined bore. I’ve seen one in my life and the guy was asking $1,300 for it

You can wrap an address label around the base of the case to keep it from bulging, but it's a huge pain to take off since it gets cooked on there. Im gonna just neck size to try to get the brass to last longer.

Back about 9-11 I too noticed what you're talking about with the brass, and the difference in chambers between the type I and type 38. For the 38 I make a semi rimmed case from .303 British. I tried .308 but it required swaging down in several steps and the rim is wobbly fit in the bolthead. With the right diameter semi-rim the type 38 functions w/o a bobble.

250 savage and 22-250 both work well. They start out a bit short but quickly stretch to length mine had a generous chamber and only required very minor turning at the base, 220 swift you have to trim and turn necks and isn't worth the effort, the 260 i was never able to swedge down enough.

I use 350 Remington cases for mine. Pretty easy to do. Lube them well. Run them through the die and reduce them. Then use them. Start with a lower powered load and work your way up with each projectile size you use.

Nice little carbine. What load data did you use for your first load? Looking for a place to start.

Type 38. Better sights, Mauser (ish) action, better bullet, better stripper clip design
