- For DV Lottery selectees, especially DV2020, this will be a quick update about legislation being discussed now and the lawsuits currently progressing.
I discuss the Meng amendment, The No Ban Act, and the prospects to obtain a TRO next week.

This sounds so unfair. They cannot extend or transfer the due date after September but they can transfer the visa and give it to other people. I mean why can't they roll over DV 2020 winners to next year cuz it's more like the same process. Suppose, if they trf 2000 visa to nxt year, they have to obviously process 2000 more candidates than normal in that year. So, why can't they transfer 2000 winners instead, who is actually the winner of that visa, rather than giving it to someone else? This is definitely irrational and ridiculous.
It's a matter of laws. And no one is saying the Meng amendment is possible. Its only a proposal.

I am a edv 2021 winner from.. my case number is AS9... but i am currently in Australia and my interview location will be Sydney us embassy though i represent asia. Well there may not be much number of applicants applying through Sydney so is there any chances for me? If yes what percentage chances do i have? @@BritSimon I think laws aren't rigid, Sir Simon, Laws evolve according to situations and circumstances, so it can be adjusted, if they are really wants to save DV2020

DV 2020 people would get the same time that they lost, you will see Simon. this is America and no judge would say that's ok to promise people something and charge them but not given them anything. Trust the justice system of America people. nobody can miss with justice in an American court.

This is unfair and unjust at all, I am DV2020 winner my number AS16xxx and my interview should be last May, now according to this amendment my visa will roll out to someone next year winner with high number like AS50xxx? Why don't they extend our time we DV2020 winners to next year since this is extraordinary year?
I also can't apply or get any type of visa to visit US in the future, because I won DV2020 and declare my intention to be permint resident, this mean I get ban for the rest of my life for nothing.
Mr.Simon could you please contact one of the senats that do care about this type of cases and explane our situation. I know its a lot to ask you to do that, but it tear me apart that to see my only and biggest chance to pursue my dream get lost because of reasons beyond my control.
To be fair, DV2021 is in serious danger too. I don't think embassies will open this year or even next year.
Blue Sea. Obviously what is happening to DV2020 is unfair. Life is unfair sometimes. However, the lottery process is controlled by laws, and there is simply not enough times, nor the political will to do anything about changing the laws. So - that is why we are doing all we can to block the ban, and that will at least help some people. Not all, but some.

@@BritSimon Well, maybe I was too crass, but nevertheless, declaring immigrant intent will bring some problems in the future depending on the visa, specially if it's a B1/B2 or H-1B visa. Just trying to be realistic.

With the ban in place, it will probably be January- but there are several legal challenges to try to block the ban.

For a selectee in DV2020, having Bs. Certification in laboratory of science with over 5yrs experience in Lab, how could he approach US embassy and prove that it is kind of US national interest ? Is any chance to convince them?
No. Those exceptions are for work based applications.

I've faced interview at embassy with my family in 17 February 2020.my visa is approved and they took our passports saying within 15 days we will get back our passports.but It's 5 month gone we waited this long till now they didn’t sent any email or massage regarding our visa and passports collection.is there no way to overcome this situation.
