Spaniard, not a clay court specialist, single handed backhand, goes to net, doesn't grind and run a billion miles to win one point. This guy is the unicorn of Spanish tennis. Congratulations Feliciano.
InsideOutBH how come they are called clay court specialist? How come players are not called grass court specialist? Or even Hard court specialist? NADAL is better on clay courts but is he a clay court specialist? He's won 2 majors on Grass 3 on hard courts.

+Mini Surf On what surface has Nadal won his titles this year? And last year? When was the last time he won a grass title? When was the last time he won a hardcourt title? That will answer your question. :)
Though 2nd-tier events, the ATP 500s at Dubai, Barcelona, Halle, Queens, Beijing and few more have come up with some extravagant trophies, which give viewers a feeling as if the winner has won a grand slam. Where as, when one looks at Madrid Masters 1000 trophy, it seems as if the winner is lifting a Challenger event trophy. That Madrid trophy is nothing compared to these giant ones.
Very happy for Lopez after that tough loss to Dimitrov in 2014, just shows age is just a number if he can achieve these feats at 35. On grass and any other fast surface, he can do a lot of damage and what is more fitting about winning his first singles ATP 500 title is that he is already a Grand Slam champion in doubles (winning the 2016 French Open). Would love to see him win the Wimbledon doubles on his best surface or even go far in the Wimbledon singles.
Finals of Stuttgart, Queen's champion, Lopez may not be a contender for the Wimbledon title but he's set to be a dark-horse and could do some serious damage in the draw, upsets anyone? Good luck to him!
I just looked up his previous matches this week: against Gilles Muller, Cilic lost 17/78 points. Against Donald Young, he lost 5/49. Against Kozlov, 7/39. Against Isner, 6/46. That makes for on average about 9 points on service lost in a match. Pretty impressive, but not nearly as much as "only lost 10 service points all week before the match".
Fantastic win for Feliciano! This was a real championship match. Those people in the stands really got their money's worth and it was nice to see how they were supporting the underdog player. The superstar doesn't always come out on top! YAY! :-)
I lové Feliciano: great touch, style and skills. I had the chance to hold the Queen's trophy once it s one of the best trophy in tennis! 🎾🎾💂🏿♀️💂🏿♀️♥️♥️
I like Lopez, happy for him.. hes got a great serve.. Can anyone explain me if is that hard to a one-handed backhand player change for two? I am genuinily asking, I dont know.. Because in Lopez case for example, its pretty clear that the one-hand bh is very vulnerable, I guess he would reach much more with more consistency there.
Seems like an intense third set, which is the way the deciding set should be! It could of gone either way. Good for Feliciano! Maybe Marin can get the doubles title 😊
That is hard to believe, Cilic only losing 10 service points all week. Would mean he’d have a lot of love or 15 games. His serve is good, but that good?
He used before and to be honest its wayy better with slice than flat backhand, specially on grass when variety, slice effects and volleys pays more, the ball bounce lower and faster
Long overdue title for Lopez. He's done well transitioning into a an all court player as opposed just a clay courter. Hope Fernando can eventually do the same. Vamos Feli!!
Grass is Lopez's best surface, lol. Unlike many other Spaniards, his style of play is more suited to fast courts than the slow slog of the clay. Plays a flat ball typically but varies with the slice, is not afraid to approach the net, and has a strong serve.
J S Lopez if anything is more of a grass courter than a clay courter (while Verdasco is more of a hard court player). Although with his win in Gstaad clay tournament last year (and the French Open doubles), he now has at least one title on all surfaces.
did he use slice backhand THAT MUCH in the entire tournament? or its just a coincidence that he is using it in every point in this video? he seems to be losing potential bcause of his backhand xD
Wow. What a match. I once read that some players go to Halle instead of Aegon/London due to tax reasons. That is, the English govt takes a pound of flesh from their earnings and the Germans do not.
Not exactly no matter where you play you pay tax on your earnings , however here in the UK they tax you on a portion of your endorsement earning which is agregious .
It's a matter of movement on a given surface. Lopez finds better footwork on the grass. His contemporary, David Ferrer, prefers those small steps on the clay. If you move well, good court positioning allows you to hit the returns you would normally net. Nadal was a special case for many years, in that he obviously preferred clay, but is so skilled and fast that he was able to adapt to grass' slick surface. For some reason or another, he has yet to rediscover that form.
cilic needed the balls to go after the net when lopez plays his shitty backhand slice. it is so slow u have tons of time to go after the net like he did when lopez had the matchball.cilic would won that 1000 percently if he had the balls in the last phase to put a drop shot.
Eddie Dantes waste of talent he has 9 Atp titles. Do you know how many players have played on tour and not won one. All these guys have more talent then you are I.
That volley to save championship point though....
By Lopez or Cilic? Both of them saved one with volleys. I am messing wid ya. I know you meant Feli .
He went for it because he didn't go for the other one when it was 5-5 and he let it go and it bounced in ;)

And last year?
When was the last time he won a grass title?
When was the last time he won a hardcourt title?
That will answer your question. :)
+Pandanucca He's a claycourt specialist too, but I love the Almagro single handed backhand.
Lopez wins Queen's, Fed wins Halle -- what a great day to be a 35 year-old pro tennis player :)
Same as today but with 37 years old
@@juanmanuelbasso1224 So Roger wins Wimbledon 2019?
Jeff Norman one year later and they both won again
@@miguelbarahona6636:(
Great win for Lopez. Two 35 year olds winning both of the main grass court events leading up to Wimbledon.
Lopez is one of the guys whose trophy cabinet would be a little fuller if the ATP had more events on faster surfaces
Lopez just never stops fighting, mad respect for him!
I'm so pleased for lopez! I really hope he gets a good run at Wimbledon!
Well done feli well deserved especially after coming so close in 2014
that cup is larger than any grand slam!
it makes up for lack of masters events on grass :P
M Sathish Kumar u shud have seen the Halle cup
The Halle trophy is I think bigger than the Queen's Club trophy.
Though 2nd-tier events, the ATP 500s at Dubai, Barcelona, Halle, Queens, Beijing and few more have come up with some extravagant trophies, which give viewers a feeling as if the winner has won a grand slam. Nothing??nothing except the diamonds in the trophy dude jajaja
Grandeeeeee Feli
Vamos Feli
Congratulations Feliciano! You deserved this! So happy for you!
Well deserved. A really hard worker to improve his game every season. Awesome final, especially compared to the disappointing Halle final.
And 2 years later he does it all again
Great narration, great editing, wish all highlight videos were like this.

One of the best serve and volley players. Do your best in Wimbledon, Lopez
Vamos Feli!! 💪💪 Enhorabuena campeón!
Love this guy! Congrats!
I still find it incredible that Cilic had only lost 10 points on serve before then..
Finals of Stuttgart, Queen's champion, Lopez may not be a contender for the Wimbledon title but he's set to be a dark-horse and could do some serious damage in the draw, upsets anyone? Good luck to him!
0:18 cilic had only lost 10 service points the whole week? How is that even possible?
Morlich209 he faced Isner the first round. Just kidding, that's so impressive. He will belong to the advanced circle of favorites at Wimbledon.
He had lost only 10 first service points in the tournament coming into the final, not total service points.
I just looked up his previous matches this week:
against Gilles Muller, Cilic lost 17/78 points. Against Donald Young, he lost 5/49. Against Kozlov, 7/39. Against Isner, 6/46. That makes for on average about 9 points on service lost in a match. Pretty impressive, but not nearly as much as "only lost 10 service points all week before the match".
Upon closer inspection: Cilic did lose only 10 FIRST SERVE points all week before this match.
Kunnu Hahaha nice one.
So good!

so happy for Lopez
Hes back
What a match!
Anyone else spotted that Spanish chair umpire in the lopez box at 2:37 and 3:23 ?
Cilic is so handsome and I love his game. This was a very winnable match for him. I would love to see him make a deep run at Wimbledon this year.
lopez is fantastic on gras this season
Well done he is a great player and only just misses out on a few tournaments
You are cool,Feliciano!
Well done at ag 35 this is good for tennis once you stay healthy you can still win titles
I like Lopez, happy for him.. hes got a great serve.. Can anyone explain me if is that hard to a one-handed backhand player change for two? I am genuinily asking, I dont know.. Is it me or his backhand was all. Slices?
Cilic only lost 10 points on serve in the tournament? How is that possible?
Im not surprised Lopez won. He played well all tournament and im actually surprised Cilic had match point.
Honestly I knew it would be a 50/50 match.
Did Lopez slice every backhand in this highlight video?
too lazy
Leon Tsang That's what I saw, I was impressed, it seems that is the only backhand hit he could do.
Lester Luna yeah he doesn't like hitting the topspin backhand at all
The courts where lightning fast this year, much faster than last year. If Wimbledon is just as fast, it could be a verry surprising tournament.
Ruben Hanemaayer if Wimby is fast they want Fed to win
Mini Surf i don't think Roger cares to much, he humiliated zverev yesterday on a court much slower than Queens.
Lopez sounds like Kermit when he grunts lol
2019 again Lopez
Although he lost big Cil' has become one of my favorite players. I hope he does big thing at wimbledon.
F. Lopez always play well in Queen' s Club Tennis of London.
what a pity Lopez got injured in Wimbledon
no play at queen's today because of rain
wasn't they guy at 2:36 with the blue blazer a chair umpire? now he's sitting in lopez's support box?
roter13 if Im not mistaken that was Juan Carlos Ferrero.
you are way off. that guy looks nothing like Ferrero
who will win Wimbledon this year ?
That is hard to believe, Cilic only losing 10 service points all week. Would mean he’d have a lot of love or 15 games. His serve is good, but that good?
it's tilting me just by lookin at lopez backhand...
why lopez always do backhand slice here? i saw he used lot of flat ones before
SYNCpro first of all is grass where slice is better and second feli doesnt have backand
he actually had it back then, not sure why he doesn't do it again
he does flat backhand sometimes
He used before and to be honest its wayy better with slice than flat backhand, specially on grass when variety, slice effects and volleys pays more, the ball bounce lower and faster
in addition cilic is tall so those slices were a pain
cilic only lost 10 service points all week to get to the finals? surely thats impossible? did he mean 10 service games?
4:10 hahahaha funny forehand...
Long overdue title for Lopez. He's done well transitioning into a an all court player as opposed just a clay courter. Hope Fernando can eventually do the same. Vamos Feli!!
his game is so much more for grass
J S What? Lopez was never a clay courter. When did you start watching tennis?
Grass is Lopez's best surface, lol. Unlike many other Spaniards, his style of play is more suited to fast courts than the slow slog of the clay. Plays a flat ball typically but varies with the slice, is not afraid to approach the net, and has a strong serve.
J S Just about to correct ya on your comment about ?clay being his best surface.... but others have already done so.....
J S Lopez if anything is more of a grass courter than a clay courter (while Verdasco is more of a hard court player). Although with his win in Gstaad clay tournament last year (and the French Open doubles), he now has at least one title on all surfaces.

Anyone hear after my boi Lopez won again
pobre cilic :(

Not exactly no matter where you play you pay tax on your earnings , however here in the UK they tax you on a portion of your endorsement earning which is agregious .
So Lopez gets the top 5 defensive skills when he steps on grass but on clay he nets the second ball. That doesn't make any sense.
It's a matter of movement on a given surface. Lopez finds better footwork on the grass. His contemporary, David Ferrer, prefers those small steps on the clay. If you move well, good court positioning allows you to hit the returns you would normally net.

Another dam proof that age is NOT the matter 4 some people. Do NOT Judge age as U know...
Cilic Fucked up big time in the 3rd set especially after winning the 1st!
New generation is here... Ah no, wait
Felifiano Lopez lmao
HavocNades Brits might actually be worse than Americans at pronouncing things. And that's not easy to do lol
His name is pronounced Felithiano in Spanish (especially in the olden times).
Lars Larsen feliciano, right?
Yeah, Feliciano. But pronounced 'Felithiano' in Spanish.
He pronounced it right. An American would have pronounced it wrong.
Lopez unverdient kan nicht einmal die Rückhand ordentlich durchziehen!
i think thropy league champions lol
classic grass coin flip on a tie. congrats Lopez anyways
Im glad and all for Lopez's win, but his screams are annoying af kkkk
Wow, never actually hit a backhand and won the title. Slicing works for him :D
he does now sometimes and is less predictable and more complet
what a waste of talent, anyway i'm happy for that guy. he deserves the trophy.
Eddie Dantes waste of talent he has 9 Atp titles. Do you know how many players have played on tour and not won one. All these guys have more talent then you are I.
LOPEZ has no backhand...he shouldn't have won this thing...
He has , he has improved a lot mate watch up the prior matches and you will see
He just likes using slice idiot
KongthePotato whats tge peoblem wuth that, slice backhand is effective, are u jealous?
Weak handshake
This is extremely disappointing.
poor Lopez at 35 and first 500 atp tittle, his career blossoms too late
Feliciano is probably one of the worse handshakers on tour
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing
Andy Andreev agreed
The grunts at the end from Lopez became very obnoxious and uncalled for
Glad Cilic lost, I hate his cocky personality.
Ahmed Bebars Cilic is one of the most humble guy on tour!
lol there have been multiple players that have said cilic might be the nicest guy on tour...
He's probably referring to on court aura that Cilic gives...
Don't let his on court vibe trick you. He's a really nice guy according to all the other players.
Ahmed Bebars Cilic is the least cockiest guy. Hes a humble and great charachter. He plays with passion thats y it can be misunderstood for cockiness.
queens always has the worst champions
It has the best Federer might play halle but generally the field is stronger at queens
