hopkins was a dirty fighter
Kovalov exerted continuous pressure on Hopkins. Kovalov was like a predator relentlessly attacking his prey. Exciting boxing match with continuous blows from both boxers. I have to give a lot of credit to Hopkins at 50 years old and hanging tough with a 30 year old. Hopkins taunting Kovalov wasn’t a smart move. I believe this helped Kovalov’s confidence and gave him the extra energy that won him the match. In the later rounds,Hopkins age is what did him in. As you get older you begin to lose strength and stamina. This is something no one can avoid
I remember Hopkins beating Felix Trinidad by great side to side movement, avoiding Tito's big power shots while getting his own big shots in. In this fight Hopkins couldn't do that at all. All his dance moves are gone.
