Cooper's Hawk Playing With It's Prey

Cooper's Hawk playing with it's prey for almost 10 minutes.
Unfortunately I had to shoot through a window screen otherwise it would have been clearer. I think the prey bird is a Cat Bird.

Smothering with its talons takes a lot of energy. But that is not necessary. It is a baby bird that can't fly. So it is going to slowly kill it.
