  • 📌🤝Ingredients:
    📌For Daal (Lentil Filling):
    1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
    2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
    1 teaspoon ginger, grated
    1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    1 teaspoon mustard seeds
    A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
    Red Chilli 🌶️
    Salt to taste
    Oil for cooking
    📌For Puri (Dough):
    2 cups whole wheat flour
    Water, as needed
    Salt, to taste
    Oil for frying
    📌🤝Instructions:
    📌Prepare the Lentil Filling:
    Wash and soak chana dal in water for 2-3 hours. Drain the water.
    In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal along with 2 cups of water and salt.
    Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is cooked and soft.
    Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
    Add asafoetida, green chilies, and grated Garlic & ginger. Sauté for a minute.
    Add the cooked dal and mix well. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Adjust salt if needed. Set aside to cool.
    Add Red Chilli Mixtures.
    📌Prepare the Dough:
    In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt.
    Gradually add water and knead into a smooth dough. The dough should be firm but pliable.
    Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
    📌Assemble and Cook:
    Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls.
    Roll out each ball into a small disc (about 3-4 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin.
    Place a spoonful of the prepared dal filling in the center of the disc.
    Bring the edges together and pinch to seal, ensuring no filling is exposed.
    Gently roll out again into a circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter, using a rolling pin. Be careful not to let the filling spill out.
    Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadhai over medium heat.
    Once the oil is hot, gently slide in the rolled out puri.
    Fry until golden brown and crisp on both sides, gently pressing with a slotted spoon to help puff up the puri.
    Remove and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
    📌Serve hot daal puris with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.
