My partner and I got engaged Feb 2018 and were getting married May 2020. I basically got everything booked in 12 months before the wedding and were now around 7/8 months out and I'm not stressed out at all. Definitely recommend booking quite in advance so you're not forking out so much money at once, were paying off the wedding monthly which works so well.

Getting married in Dec after a one year engagement! I couldn’t wait any longer!! :)
I highly recommend getting a day of coordinator even if you don’t get a planner. Otherwise, your day is crammed with setup and you have to ask family and friends to help...it’s a lot of stress.

My biggest tip is to NOT be a control freak the day of your wedding. I am a person who has extreme OCD and loves everything MY way and perfect BUT it cannot be like that on your big day or you will drive yourself insane and not be happy. On my day I literally let go and went with the flow and that’s when I realized “wow everything is perfect and I’m as happy as can be, this is the best day of my life”

9 months! Was a bit stressful, but loved having a shorter engagement so the “engaged feeling” didn’t go away. We just got married last weekend and it was a dream.
I’m 32 and my fiancé is 45 and we have been engaged for almost 4 years now 😂😂 with really no plans yet for our actual wedding! Crazy I know. Honestly I’m not stressed about it. I don’t want a big wedding. I want to go to the courthouse one day on a whim and do it privately just the 2 of us. And with all the money we will have saved on the wedding, we will go off to have a big long honeymoon somewhere amazing ❤️

Your story is so similar to mine. We were engaged over 4 yrs.... We had a date scheduled at the courthouse. 2 wks before the date, they called and said the judges will be in a conference. The next available date was over a month away.... I'm 7 months pregnant with our 1st baby and didn't want to wait. (We got married 2 wks ago). Well my friend stepped up and insisted that we get married at her place. I live in Minnesota and the trees in her yard were a beautiful orange/red. Her friend is ordained....and we had 6 guests plus our dog, Gus, in a doggy tux lol. Just super small and intimate. I thought it was perfect for us. I put the video on CZcams.

Got married almost 8yrs ago! I did my own makeup after watching some OLD SKOOL Pixiwoo bridal tutorials 🥰 used Dior Airflash foundation, MAC Pro Longwear concealer, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, MAC eyeshadows (Espresso, Brûlée, super matte 😂), bit of brown kohl smudged at the lash line, surprisingly bomb-ass-applied lashes considering I’ve never worn lashes before or since 😬, MAC Clingpeach longwearing lip (think it’s discontinued 😟) and that was that! My first dance was Etta James “At Last” 🥰❤️💋
You should do a "before wedding" skincare tutorial, like a spa night before your wedding day, or skincare routine for wedding skin or something of the type. This is the second wedding makeup video I've watched of yours and I love them, and have been engaged since 2016 myself, and everyone I've talked to about my wedding makeup, has told me, it's very very very important to take care of your skin for months before your wedding, just so your skin looks it's best, so your makeup can look it's best. So I think you should do a get your skin ready for your wedding makeup video. I agree on the years to prepare, there is sooo much to get done and like you I don't wanna be stressed. I'm not great at makeup, like you are, so I have chosen to have mine done for me, but you do your own makeup very very well, and the way I see it, it is YOUR day, do what YOU want, but if you have someone else you definitely trust to do your wedding makeup, it's more time for you to just relax, and be pampered. It always your choice, but for me it's something else that would stress me out more. You're beautiful as always, and can't wait for more videos.

You should try a neutral look or cool toned look with like soft mauves rather then the warm golden look on the eyes. I think they would look beautiful on you for your wedding day! Film both and get feedback from all of us!

Don’t freak out, read till the end. I KNEW my husband for 6 weeks before we were married. We met and 6 weeks later we were married. (Obviously I wasn’t pregnant!) That was in 1989! And we are STILL happily married, we have 5 kids 5 grandkids with another on the way. It hasn’t always been perfect, but it has always been workable. Good luck!

My best tips:
Make a seperate folder in your email for all your wedding related communication to keep it organised
Do a wedding website for your RSVPs and information, there’s lots of great free options. Makes invitations a lot easier.
Make sure your venue has an indoor option so that you don’t need to stress about bad weather.
Get the speeches done before dinner - those people will be hella nervous and won’t enjoy dinner if they have to wait, or they’ll get plastered during dinner.
I have lots of tips but these definitely helped for me 😊
My engagement lasted about a week. We eloped, spent $75 on our license and Justice of the Peace. We've been married 20 years next June.

I got some trials for my wedding makeup and they were ok but ultimately I know my eye shape and how I like to wear my make up and I can do it perfectly well so it can't go wrong if I do it. I'm a control freak a bit so I ended up doing my own and it was perfect. Also it allows you time to test what you want to wear and use, whereas using someone else to do it you only really get 1 or 2 trials and have to trust their decisions.
Completely agree. You know what looks best on your own face and how you like your makeup to look. Unless you literally never wear makeup and want help in the application/technique area, do your own. I did my own and have zero regrets. Still love what I wore that day.
I never wear makeup so I'm definitely getting someone else to do mine. If I tried I'd probably look like a clown in a white dress 😂
Got engaged August 2016 and married November 2017.
The planning was so much fun for me but I’m super organised and pretty decisive.
My tip is to have a list/spreadsheet of all the things you need to organise. There is a lot of things but I felt more in control when there was a to do list.
Helps keep the payments in order as well.
I do this for stuff in my house! How much I have of say "toliet paper" and everytime i use a pack I check off. Crazy I know lol
I did my own hair and makeup on my wedding day. I'm a super control freak for my makeup, so doing it myself kept me the most sane!!! I agree on not giving yourself too many choices for venue, cake, flowers, etc. You'll make yourself crazy second guessing with too many options 😂 Can't wait for a possible bridal palette....what an amazing idea!!!!

Omg I just have to comment because I feel like other people can relate as well. I got married 2 years ago and makeup was my biggest concern. I’m a make up artist and I’m so super particular about my own makeup, and I take soo much pride in it. Was convinced that I was gonna do it myself, but had everyone telling me “ Oh its your wedding ya know.. you’re supposed to be relaxed! “ So I decided on getting a person do my makeup and regretted it! Think it was my biggest regret ever. Honestly think that especially it’s your wedding, it’s only right that you do it because you’re SO good at it and you’re the only person who knows what works for your face best! 💗

When I got married I didn’t get a wedding planner, but I downloaded a wedding planning app on my phone. It helped so much! There were so many things that we needed to plan that we didn’t even think of. There was a check list on the app and would let you know the date that you needed to do everything by. It helped us so so much! We’ve been married 5 years this year and being married is the best! I wish you all the best on your planning and your marriage!

I got married 14 months after we got engaged and finished planning super early and then just couldn't wait for the wedding and to be married! I wish it had been an even shorter engagement because we were just so excited to be married! We danced to L.O.V.E. by Nat King Cole for our first dance! I highly recommend a day-of coordinator. I did all the planning up until then which was great, but knowing I didn't have to tell everyone exactly where to be at what time or answer tons of questions day of was so relaxing! Plus that way my mom and other family got to sit back and enjoy the day as well. :) I'm sure whatever you do, your day will be amazing because you'll be marrying the love of your life!
Love bridal because it’s always elegant and radiant! I’d love to see a pale lavender glowy bridal look - something for spring!
I would say get a trial done from a makeup artist or two in your area, and then decide if you want to do your own or relieve some stress. I would say don't do a blend of you and a makeup artist doing your makeup, because it will just be more frustrating for both you. As far as planning, get a planning app that you log into with an email that way you can keep easy track of what needs done and when.
I was engaged for just a little over a year, no wedding planner, just a day of coordinator for one less worry. I bought the knot wedding binder, it has a checklist that makes it soooooo easy to plan a wedding and breaks down what you should have done month by month. I planned my whole wedding myself stress free with just that checklist.
My fiancé & I got engaged July 2018. We’re getting married November 2020. I have hired my photographer, florist, caterer, & I have my venue picked out! It’s so much fun but also overwhelming! Wishing you well!!
I bought a wedding binder/planner online! It had everything in it! It even had a timeline, for example, if you viewed checklist for 8 months out from the wedding day, it would say “save the dates are due” or “order bridesmaid dresses”. Etc. Loved it! No need for hiring a wedding planner unless you plan on doing a destination wedding! 👍❤️💍

I got married last year and opted to do my own makeup but I got an MUA I knew and trusted to do my bridal party so I didn’t have the stress of getting them ready. Tips wise, be mindful of who you really want there, don’t feel pressured to invite people that you don’t really want there, we had 68 people and that was plenty. As long as your guests have good food and music they’ll be happy! As far as vendors, don’t skimp on your photographer, dress, hair/makeup, those pics will last forever and you wanna be able to look back at them and love them. Oh, and get a videographer definitely!! I love our video so much and there’s so many precious moments caught that we can look back on for years to come.

Planned our wedding in less than 3 months...no wedding planner and I wasn’t stressed at all! I’m not even a makeup artist or anything close to it, but I did my own makeup as it gave me something else to focus on! If you feel like you’ll be stressed on the morning I would recommend to do your own as it means you don’t have the time to focus on everything if you get me!

My day sucked ass. Really needed this video. Also I was engaged for 2 years, now we’ve been married for a year. In Palestinian culture our weddings are celebrated 3 days! Jabel henna, henna, and the actual wedding day. 🥰. And I loved the fact that I did my makeup in such a different way than usual ( I always wear light makeup ) and I wore a ball gown. Like when I’ll I ever wear a ball gown again. Lol

I learned really quick that a lot can happen during your engagement. I was hoping to keep our guest list small, but with a longer engagement so much happened, I changed jobs and moved and met several new people that I wanted to invite. I would say if you’re having a long engagement to allow yourself some extra invites in case you meet new friends and really want them there. Because some people you meet later in life but still make a great connection and feel closer to than your long term friends. The guest list is the hardest part! Good luck with planning! Can’t wait to see photos of the big day! 💕
Absolutely perfect! If I were to get married I would choose this.. I think you might be happiest doing your own makeup and having some else do your hair.. I have had my makeup done for weddings and ran home and fixed it many times.

I was engaged for 11 months and we had enough time to plan everything.. But honestly it was because we were not super specific about what we wanted and we adapted to what was available.. Most venues we visited were booked for the next year and a half and so we opted to book a restaurant near the beach and decorated everything as we wanted and it ended up being perfect 😁 but yeah, it's still stressful 😅

Do your own makeup. Get a wedding planner...there are so many details they can help with and they are great to have there on the day to make sure everything goes smoothly. And try and enjoy the whole journey.

I was extremely organised with everything, the wedding day was beautiful and everything did go as planned. The only thing I was bummed about were some photos that I didn’t get. It’s literally a “should’ve, could’ve, would’ve” scenario. So my suggestion, write down the photos you want in particular, like certain bridesmaid shots, family shot, group shots and where abouts at home you want them, inside/outside etc etc - you and Hamish will get lots of photos together which is the focus, but I found the others were a little forgotten about. And you don’t think about it then and there.
Otherwise, take in every moment, let others do things for you and just enjoy.. cannot wait to see your journey xoxoxox

I’m getting married at the end of the month! I booked my venue 18 months ago, and then I booked the big things (florist, photographer, videographer, celebrant) straight away!
Towards the end though there’s still heaps to do - all the little things sneak up on you!
You can totally do it without a wedding planner, but I would recommended a day of coordinator to help make the actual day more relaxed!
I got engaged in May of 2018, we are getting married in October 2021. I wanted a lot of time to plan as well because I was finishing grad school and we needed to move in together. We already booked the venue which includes ceremony space, reception, full open bar, catering and cake, so a lot of the heavy hitters are taken care of. I wanted a lot of time!

We were engaged for 2yrs and booked the first venue we looked at. When you know it’s the right venue, you know! Go with your gut! I had a wedding planning and it made it soo easy, she was there on the day, so I didn’t have to worry about any set up, nothing!
I got married exactly one year from when we got engaged. I didn’t find wedding planning stressful at all, it’s just matter of making decisions! I did my own wedding makeup and was really happy with it.

My engagement was 18 months and I thought it was the perfect amount of time. I did my own make up and it took me quite awhile, but it didn’t move all day. 6 years later I still love my look and have no regrets.
I got married last year and my number one piece of advice to friends who get married (we had about 160 there) is to have an event with everyone invited the night before. Totally frees you up for the actual wedding. Also I did my own makeup and I loved how it turned out. My bridesmaids and mom had bad luck with the artist we hired and that's something I've experienced frequently.
I had gotten engaged February 3, 2014 (my 25th birthday) and our wedding was May 10, 2015.
I did my own wedding makeup and I wasn’t nearly as skilled as you are at the time. It still turned out great!
Try not to stress and enjoy the process and the day because it will go quickly!
And keep in mind, even if something doesn’t go as planned...NO ONE IS THE WISER! ❤️
I did my own makeup. I knew how fast I could do it, what I liked, etc so there was no worrying about not liking it or having to monitor their arrival/speed.

My husband and I were engaged for 3 years which may seem like a long time to some however we have been together for almost 10 years plus we had just built our house so funds were a bit low but the long engagement didn’t worry us, we weren’t in any hurry and gave us more time to plan such an incredible day xx beautiful look Shan 🥰
We got engaged Dec 2018 and have just booked our venue for Oct 2021! We will have been engaged for 2 years and 10 months. A long time, but by then I will have finished my uni degree and my partner will have finished his second trade, then the next big event in our life can begin!

my engagement was two and a half years but we planned the wedding in 3 months haha. I did my own makeup as we saved money and did as much of our wedding as we could ourselves, and I have no regrets about the day and loved it all and everything we did :)
Had the most basic AF wedding in 2012, we had a bbq surrounded by closest friends and family so intimate and wouldn’t have had it any other way! At the end of the day, you’re marrying the love of your life and it doesn’t matter what your wedding is like, as long as you are happy together ☺️
We got engaged in November and married the following July. It wasn’t too stressful, I think the hardest part is picking the venue and a dress once that’s done everything else just kinda was fun. I made lots of lists and a scrap book with ideas.

Engaged April 2018, married December 2018. Small wedding at my childhood church and it was beautiful. Some people made it not so fun but those, unfortunately, are circumstances you can’t prepare for. But I definitely don’t regret the time line. Congrats!
Get a wedding planner for the day of. Someone who keeps things moving and reminds you to take care of yourself and enjoy the day. Worth every penny!
