She fired!
Born and raised Calgarian for 62 years ,this is all crap .two days ago the mayor wanted you to phone 311 and give praise to the workers doing their job ,that the are paid VERY well for and now this .I saw it coming .What a total embarrassment, next October vote all of them out and take the clown show management teams with them , by the way it is unfortunate they got hurt.
Worst mayor ever
Gondek is a complete hack. Alarmism is all this is.
What a gong show this has been
A Gondek show.
Clown town
Lots of "if's" and "could be's"
Prayers for full recovery 🙏
Hye 🙋♂️❤ From Malaysia 😊
If we are all in this together why doesn't the city offer funds to companies using massive water supply for their business to offset loss of income to insure more water for the SAFETY of its civilians. All talk.
🤷🏻♀️why small job is a big drama in Canada ?
OMG just imagine if Canada send a rocket to space 🤯
With all the pipe line companies that are operating out of Calgary …. It’s hard to imagine how and why it’s taking so long .. like why they didn’t bypass the main line with a temporary fix, while the original line is fixed .. …. ???????
They're probably only trained to mine for oil because that's what make the world go around according to Albertans.
Cause if its a feedermain you cant just bypass it, its simply impossible. These pipes carry water at such extreme pressures
They are not smart enough to put a temporary bypass in. They are just going to stare at the broken main feeder and scratch their heads.
@@HeyMyNameIsLukas and you are a expert on the subject. .. just asking .. :o) … It’s. Just that I have seen it done. Before …. Granted different location and all but still …. Pipe line is a pipe line .. they are all under great pressure with different conditions and materials running through them … .. the cost of the process is the key reason …
@@HeyMyNameIsLukas They are precast concrete, check out Lafarge's catalogue for the products likely used in this area. Civic water supply is not high pressure, these are likely 900mm-1500mm or even larger. Maintaining high pressure over a large cross sectional area like that is neither feasible nor necessary. I'm a P.Eng but haven't worked in Infrastructure for a decade but the highest pressure feeder I saw was rated for 120psi (830ish kpa)
Compare that to oil and gas where fracking hose is regularly subject to pressures in the 100 Mpa or 15000 psi range or higher.
If you want very high pressure you gotta go small diameter and metal/composite as opposed to concrete
I heard car washes R open
weak leaders create hard times
When isn't there hard times? But also, why is you conserving water a 'hard time'?
crooked leaders create hard times, you could have the best leaders in the world but if their hearts are set on money and corruption than they are useless.
This mayor has a 12% approval rating. Think about that.
You follow Mr.Sunshinebaby. Think about that.😂
@@AstroBear11how many boosters have you gotten?

And most UCP Supporters have an IQ of a similar number. Think about that....but not too hard or you could get hurt.
@@scraidywolf7081 Mr sunshine actually works for the Liberals...And the NDP too.
A resident that lives nearby posted that last winter there was a break in almost the same place - it was fixed in hours. The jig is up comrade
And what is ''the jig''?
@@valolafson6035means it's B S
it was sabotage obviously
It happened because the Infrastructure failed. Who could EVER foresee that? Let’s just help ok calgarians?
i'm suspicious as the restrictions and week after week crap same as cvid
So I have to let my garden die, take a two minutes shower, not flush the toilets as often and put off washing my clothes while the golf courses and car washes are wide open????? Nice leadership city council. I blame all those idiots.
I'd go to city hall and check if they follow the no flash rule. Worth the trip😅
Golf courses are not on city water. Whine about what you know.
Imagine spending thousands of dollars laying sod on your brand new home. No way I’m not watering and wasting thousands of dollars. Just have to do it at midnight so the snitches don’t tell on me lol
@@garywagner2466 They are called "greens". Guess how the maintenance crew keep them green.
You don’t have to do any of that. Make your own choices like an adult. These are not your overlords.
They should have contracted the job out to professionals
They are.
@@valolafson6035Which private contractor got the job?
The water department is staffed with professionals.. stop saying stupid things.. and grow up
If you don’t like how they are doing let’s see you do better
@@mikemacmillan778 professionals would be done by now. City workers do this stuff but they also do other stuff. Get some oil pipeline workers in there and this in done in 3 days. Unfortunately the union won't allow that and now 2 of their members are injured for being told to do a job they're not competent too.
There’s a “climate emergency “ declared isn’t there??? Since ‘21 right???
Wasn’t that Gondeks idea???
Guess that’s a more pressing issue tho
How am I suppose to wash my car? Oh I can go to the nearest car wash as they are still open!
wash it in your garage so the rats cant see you
Perhaps they got injured because they did not wear rainbow uniforms.
Plus I don't think they did a "land acknowledgement" prior to starting.😉
A chain broke and whipped a couple of guys. Shutting down the project for this is absurd. Then come on TV with your bleeding heart no water for the fireman stories
Get real Proffesionals in to fix the problem JOKEti!!!! The way theyll run dry is if you stay in as Mayor.
"We are all in this together." 🤮 Sounds like some pledge phrase politicians must say to signal their allegiance.
💯 Exactly what I was thinking, agreed!!
broke the pipe on purpose
Imagine just laying fresh sod down on your new home, spending thousands of dollars, then this happens.
Well I figure if the 100 year pipe only lasted 50, city should Sue company for its “catastrophic “ failure … then I’ll make a claim to the city for all the landscaping and expensive plants that are dying
It is amazing to think that this is the same country that stormed Vimy Ridge and landed on the beaches of Normandy.
Men were built different back then !
@@Redspottedbug No they weren't.
Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink.
It's sad to say but most North American infrastructure systems are very vulnerable to single point failures like this. Be them water, sewer, electrical, internet oil, road and rail. Lots and lots of infrastructure it's already into its Elder years and will need replacing or upgrading. We have deferred Capital maintenance and Improvement projects too long. And the top it all off where in some kind of Dash to jack up the population numbers seemingly without consideration for future demand let alone maintaining capacity.
They will delay fixing this as long as they can but you better believe the city councillors will be at the pride parade donating money to lgbt- abcd gang
This Mayor should be fired effectively immediately what an embarrassment this whole situation is
Get freaking Walmart to not take advantage of this water shortage some water went up a $1. Ugh nothing like corporate greed
Another update from the DEI hire
Hospital toilets are high flush and there is so much water waste there.
Nobody cares
Best wishes for a full recovery to the workers.
Hope those "overall folks" will be ok.
OHS has to do their investigation so it could take some time. I bet there were no safety personnel at the site because they were hurrying and that’s what happens go figure I hope the workers recover completely. They could get a waterworks company to run temp lines in about 24-48 hrs. Might not be as much but at least it is something. Poor planning on all counts. Keep voting the way you are Calgary.
Imagine the pressure on them, prayers
We had 28 years of drought before .....no water restrictions like this.

Or you could just fix the pipe
maybe the broken pipe will heal it's self.
Useless mayor.
anyone else find this a little fishy a water main breaks and it takes weeks to repair gondek must go
They are probably not trained to do these kinds of job hence the problems we are facing right now. Lack of maintenance caused this, they just don't want to say it but it clearly was.
Since there are always 10 city workers standing around scratching their asses and eating twinkies, must of been the 2 standing and holding a shovel upright becouse they just stuffed thier faces with local gas stations pizza slice or burito....
WHAT TO DO!! 😂😂😂
😂😂
So no one else can take over the work that was being done? Are these 2 workers the only ones who qualify to finish the job???
This keeps getting suspicious..
When injuries, or a death occurs on a job site, that job site is shutdown for the investigation.
Maybe the pipe was sabotaged,I don’t trust this Mayor.
I guess you're going to have to scrap the old water pipes and re route the oil pipelines and just start drinking oil 🤷 you reap what you sow
..... no stoppage.... get this line fixed and do it now...
As long as it can be done safely.
You obviously know nothing about workplace safety - glad you're not in charge.

"Work on the site has been halted whilst our over worked crews can take a break, and rest, from this dangerous work of fixing a water main pipe. This is why you see so many standing around or sleeping on the job".
How do you get injured, standing there holding a shovel?
There's ten of them standing around to ensure safety.
Fixing the pipe can’t equal to fire skyrocket, if Calgary can’t handle it in short time, why not seek the help from big city. It is not a high tech job. Shouldn’t last so long. When Enmax charge water fee, do they ever think how to maintain the system well and safe.
I broke a nail 💅 stop working now immediately 😅😂🤣
Chinas cslgary mayor
Those injuries are on you ma'am. Poor leadership trickles down on safety. Sad news.
There it is. The dumbest thing I'll read all day.
How does someone who's been mayor for a year become responsible for decades of poor maintenance? What specifically could she have done to prevent this? Oh, right. Nothing.

Canada is devolving.
I hope that awful mayor doesn’t make those hard workers wear those ridiculously embarrassing rainbow uniforms!
They're rainbow powered.😂
And as always who cares
Yeah .. who cares if a worker is injured? “ Give me convenience or give me death, Mayor of Calgary “
Do your job and this would never happen. Your calgarys worst mayor ever
what is she a safety auditor? she has nothing to do with safety she the mayor
Actually yeah. Preventive maintenance was obviously not done. Leadership dictates the importance of safety. Her lack of priorities led one way or another into this. Any safety professional can tell you that. Leadership is key. Hope that makes sense to you
Lol
Just tell him to put some water on it and get back to work.
