- In the late 50s Daytons bought Schuneman's department store in St. Paul MN Daytons opened in 1963, in 1990 Daytons bought Marshall fields and a few yrs later they changed the stores name to Marshall fields, then Macys bought Marshall Fields and they are closing the St. Paul store in March. I worked in the River Room Nov. 1982 - Feb. 2009. The River Room name came from the painting of the river on the walls(post card) I believe it is 65 yrs old. This information came from Lydia who started working for Schunemans at 17 until she pasted away at 93 yrs young. This is where I got my nick name Betty Boop I was 20 when I started here. So many Great memories, Please let me know about your Favorite Memories..

How about former coworkers? Hi Betty.
We had a couple that met in the store and got engaged in the River Room. We had a few famous customers, but my best memorys are the people I worked with in the River Room and Iron horse.and are regular customers.

Btyboo, I know you! Sugar, I worked with you in about 92-94, I’m Johnny Tacheny. Patrick knoll was one of my friends, you made the most amazing soufflés! I took over the iron horse and micalolina “forgive the spelling” was the manager and Emmy was her mom and worked in the rr with us.
Im walking behind the server then behind the pillar swing a tray 138-140.
This was the second biggest and best Dayton's in the 1980's am I correct ?
You didn't put up any pics of you when you worked in the River Room??? Sad T.T
