    Hello friends,
    This is the first video I have filmed in my new apartment in Boston! It has taken me a bit of time to get adjusted, and to be honest, I still have boxes to unpack, but for the most part I am feeling more comfortable here every day!

    I recently got a second snug above my first one, i will say it swells like crazy and i had to get the bar changed very quickly with my first one so i made sure this time round they pierced it with a longer bar (not sure of the size). It took about 10/11 months to fully heal and it remained sore to the touch for the majority of that, meaning i had to sleep on the opposite side for ages and it received countless accidental knocks and bumps which only prolongs the healing time! Not sure why i decided to get a second one lol, they are probably my favourite piercings i have to date though but are by far the most painful and difficult to heal. Do not get this if you aren't prepared to give it time and TLC! Also 1/4 non iodised salt to 1 cup of boiling water cooled down on cotton balls x2 a day, anti inflammatory meds, tea tree and a good rinse in a warm shower are the best for healing and swelling reduction 😊

    looking at the picture at the start you could tell it was going to end badly, alway make sure you get pierced with a very long bar to account for swelling!

      zyriki as long as you take good care of it, it should be fine. I have had my snug for 4 years. I had a lot of swelling problems and it took a year and a half to heal, but it is one of my favorite piercings and I have 13 piercings.

    • @pinkybananas1
      @pinkybananas1 Před 8 lety +9

      I really don't know and I don't have any piercings but the reason behind not taking it out is that if you have an infection and you take it out then the hole will close up and the infection will be trapped inside your body and be harder to take out. Idk if there are different types of infections. I know this because I saw two videos and a girl had to even take antibiotics. But I honestly do not know which is better or which is correct

    I was thinking about getting this but I had enough troubles with my tragus. I have had it pierced for 2 and a half years now and it is finally healed. The cartilage is just so thick like the snug. I don't want to go through anymore difficult piercings...may just get my upper cartilage done.

    OMG! I had the same experience with my snug. Let me give you a little bit of background, ironically my name is Emily as well. I’m 14 now, I got it pierced as an early birthday gift, I’ve had it for about 5 months now. When I originally got the piercing it did not hurt at all, it was honestly a 0-10 and she pierced me with a 6 mm. About a week after the piercing I kept getting excruciating pain and swelling. My dad said to give it another week to see if the swelling went down, well it didn’t. I ended up going back to my piercer and she had to use the tools to get it out because the swelling was so bad. I ended up passing out from the pain as well, and woke up to her putting in a 10 mm bar instead. Now at 5 months it’s almost healed. If your thinking of getting a snug, DON’T GET PIERCED WITH A 6 MM, yes everyone’s bodies handles piercings differently, just don’t risk it.

    • @EmilieJoy
      @EmilieJoy  Před 6 lety

    Also there's the faux snug which id just a mid lobe and conch piercing

    Snug are pains. My piercing shop actually charges more to try and deter people from them. Personal experience if you want a snug piercing but don't think you can handle the pain or swelling, get a faux snug. It's basically a helix and conch piercing at an angle that looks like a snug but with none of the bad parts. You can even get away with wearing a curved barbell if you want though two labret studs look good.

I wanted my rook pierced, a triple forward helix and a sideburn piercing, but my cartilage has not enough space for the needle to go through. Now I am hoping I can get my snug pierced. if you like different piercings maybe try get a orbital conch piercing :) I usually get quite bad swelling with piercings and take ages to heal but my conch healed so quickly, didn't swell too badly and if you pierce it with a stud first you'll never knock it so it's super easy to look after xxxx

  • @ItsMyDestini

    Yeah I recently got a snug Aug 6th and it swelled very bad and I went to a different piercer and she told me “To be honest the last piercer shouldn’t have pierced it, it’s going to either stay swelled and never heal & you’re going to have a bad scar” so long story short I took it out and she recommended a “faux snug” so in a few more months I’m going to try that. 🙏🏽 A lot of piercers say faux snugs are so much better and the healing process is great. ❤️

I was really determined and after 4 days the piercing stopped hurting and started going down, so if you can’t handle pain please don’t get this piercings it’s horrendous.

    I have recently just taken out my snug piercing because it just wasn't healing, i really liked the piercing but it's just very problematic in the long run, I also needed paracetamol and ibuprofen to help cope with the pain, it also started to affect my helix piercing because they were on the same ear. Even though I love the piercing I'm glad I no longer have it BC I can see my ear is all ready doing much better.

    Honestly, I just went through the same experience, I had mine pierced on Friday and I’ve only just now taken it out, the whole time I had to take it out, I was messaging my piercer and she has now banned a Snug piercing from her list and she recommends a faux snug (conch and helix piercing) so it looks more realistic, I wouldn’t wish the pain on anybody, it was indescribable😩 so glad it’s now out

      Mari Carmen Espín my lobe piercings are literally taking 8 months. I also have double helix. The snug is such a thick piece of cartilage, I think you should keep cleaning and be patient. • @arrianne311
    @arrianne311 Před 8 lety

    Similar things happened to me with my rook and my conch and my tragus I guess. The reasons were my fault though since I slept on them. My conch swelled and it hurt sooo bad to even touch it gently caused pain. My ear swelled so much that my tragus actually swelled as well, and the diameter of my tragus post was such that my skin grew over it. My piercer pushed it back out, but it never really healed so months later I ended up taking it out. =( My rook had a similar experience, swollen, painful to the touch, but no where as bad as my conch.
    I've heard that the snug is tough to heal and most piercers will try to talk you out of it, kinda like a rib tattoo.

    For those now scared of getting this done altho they wanted it just head the swelling off from the get go. Keep your head propped up for the first 2 days or so. Make sure you dont sleep on it. Use ice and clean it properly and take something to reduce swelling often. Also that bar was too short your ear there was already thick.

    Oh no I'm so sorry! I had a horrible experience with my two top cartilage piercings, like I was at the doctors on New Years having to get them removed and it was hard for the doctor because they were so swelled that the rings would only come out if he basically scraped my ear making it bleed while trying to get it out. It was horrible. I also had bumps that he started pinching trying to get gunk out of and then he wrapped my ear in massive amounts of gauze because he couldn't find bandages so when I walked out it looked like maybe half my ear had been cut off or something because there was this huge bandage around my ear haha. Thankfully the antibiotics he prescribed me to worked for me and completely got rid of my bumps. I also tried putting studs back in a week later and my holes hadn't completely closed up so yay! I got these 3 cartilage piercings done at the same time and the top two had rings (the ones that horribly got infected) the bottom one had a stud and what a friend of mine was telling me was that her piercer always told her that rings were easier to get infected because they move around so much so he always recomended to start off with a stud & it makes so much sense now. I guess thats why my third cartilage didn't get infected. Anywho I hope your snug experience doesn't keep you from getting more piercings because your piercings made me want more piercings & even though I had to go to the doctors and it was painful I still want to get more because now I know to do more research before getting it done. Hope Boston is treating you well xoxo-Karla

    Just 2 days ago I got my first cartilage piercing done, it is a helix. So far love it! I was prepared for so much more pain when getting it, it can barely be classified as painful, but if I turn my head at night on that side where the piercing is, I wake up from the pain :/ It was going great until yesterday a friend of mine bumped into it really hard when hugging, oh my gosh, it was such strong pain, I hope it will be fine, still hurts if I touch it now :(
    I also mix my own salt solution, I googled the ratio, somehow didn't want to pay just for a premixed salt solution.

      I have my helix pierced and I didn't have any issues with it until i slept on it one night and I ended up developing little bumps around the piercing that took a really long time to go away! The proper salt to water ratio is 1/4 tsp sea salt in a cup of water. Tour piercing mist likely became this bad because you were using too much salt, too little salt, or nor cleaning it properly or often enough.

    omg I got the same piercing around this time last year, I cleaned it with salt water and on the third day it was swollen more than usual , I took a after school nap woke up to pus & blood and my ear had gotten so swollen the it was impossible for me to grab the balls to take it out. I had to go to the E.R and the ENT ( ear nose Doctor ) had to cut my ear open in order to remove it😩😩 I wish I could insert picture lol. It was so painful and now I have a tiny keloid on that ear.

    your piercing was way too small. mine got super swollen a week after i did it, throbbing pain and my entire ear was sensitive. this lasted 2 days. after that it was just the normal sensitivity for a new piercing. i was scared that it was getting infected and i'd have to take it out, but it passed after soaking once a day and using anti bacterial cream. the barbell is also 12mm and the swelling almost went over that.

      Linda Volc I think you should go for it if you haven't yet! make sure you go to a piercer you trust to do a good job or do a LOT of research on the shop's reputation.
      a good thing to do, and something that may have saved this piercing is to ask the piercer any and every question you can think of and ⚠️ask them to tell you what they are doing and how etc before they do it. ⚠️
      my piercer always tells me the size of the needle and jewelry before he touches me at all.
      I am also wanting this piercing and am tempted to make a video(s) about it and maybe my other piercings. just putting it out there if you want to know my future experience with this piercing.

Oh come on what did you do fucking sleep on it don’t sleep on it it’s gonna make it worse

      I have my daith and my snug both of which were not fun healing processes. Both are still fairly sore and not properly healed (after about 6 months) but are getting there. I really agree with getting a long barbel because mine swelled like crazy too. In terms of the daith, I still have pretty large hypertrophic scaring on both sides of the jewelry but if treated properly healing isn't bad. I would still recommend both piercings but the daith healing is better than snug for sure. Hope this helped at least a little and let me know if you have any more questions :)
