It's difficult in the UK where people feel like Christianity is something our culture has moved on from. I talk about the gospel and people just don't really react. They don't seem to care either way. I need faith that God will work despite this. After all, he did in my life!

Hey Bro!! Try to find a way to get involved with Alpha. It's a global ministry out of the UK designed to help engage nonbelievers, skeptics, and "unchurched" people with the Christian worldview by inviting them to ask questions about God in a judgement free space.
Maybe you could go through one of their courses, or simply talk to some of their leaders, in order to find some good ways to strike up conversations about Jesus and reach people who are pretty indifferent to God's existence!
      God Bless

Father God, UK needs gospel and people need you. Jesus thereby give powerful pwerful strength and discernment to lead people. Father let us not be weary when people dont open their hearts. Lets us be courageous and carry your name powerfully. Jesus let your call for repentance to all humanity be spread in UK and young growing up generations. Lord i thank you for people still standing up for you in this evil time. We think so lightly of you. Let our life glorify you and give strength to this family member. Jesus i pray. Give faith. Don't lose us father. We are waiting for your glory. We want to be yours. Let our eyes be solely on to you
In Jesus name I pray Amen

Still, keep doing it. The result may not be an instant. You may not have someone responding directly to you. But within their secret space, they probably will begin to think about what the Lord helped you to share with them.

What we face today is no different than the scrutiny of the past.
The same arguments are made, and the same spirits conjuring up the arguments.
Watch good street preachers. It will give more insight.
If it was easy and acceptable it would be more like entertainment anyway.

They both have their purpose. But most people who say they believe in building relationships don't do that either. If they do, they don't ever give a clear gospel presentation. I believe all Preachers should do open air preaching and/or street witnessing in some degree.

Pastor John, back in the mid 1980’s I attended BBC a couple of years. I appreciated learning from your sermons then, and now online.
Neighborhood evangelism... I specifically stopped at a house after church where I currently live because I saw the person out on his front porch as he’d been before several times (so, not in church). When he learned I’m a pastor’s wife, he asked me some very serious spiritual questions. I was blessed to share with him some of what I know. I told him that I’d felt God’s Holy Spirit nudge to stop and introduce myself to him.
Other times, I’ve had the opportunity to have a conversation with someone sitting next to me on an airplane or a bus (on an 8-hr trip), especially when I lived overseas. People would be curious as to why an American was living in NE Brazil, and I would share that my parents were missionaries. Sometimes they’d ask spiritual questions from there. It was almost automatic; very easy to evangelize in those situations.
My husband has never been out of the USA (yet) but he loves to use the checkout line or elevator because he has a captive audience. 😊. There are always ways to share a little of God’s love. Even if it’s not immediately a plan of salvation shared, it’s still important in planting a seed that can bear fruit later on.

I agree in a sense. I also disagree. I think if you are to go evangelize than do that. If you waste time with making friends, they might not get the gospel in time. I also think that friends are good to evangelize to, because some will respect your opinion and possibly give you more than a day or two to get it out over time. You might even find them asking questions later.

"How can I pray for you? The standard opening"
You can definitely see the difference between the USA and Europe.
You people still have a "Christian culture", or rather a kind of spiritual culture.
I met once an American who is an elder, from a well known church, and when he introduced himself, his next question was: what is your ministry?
As an European, this was a very strange question.
What you guys and women can do in the USA regarding evangelism and other, is not possible in Europe.
    Pray for Europe.

I don't care what anyone says, gospel tracts (if you have the right kind) can be effective. Some people don't like them because they say it's not personal enough, but which is better: pass by 500 people in a day and don't say a word (which is the case for most people on a daily basis), or pass by 500 and at least a few of those people receiving the gospel in the form of an easy to read tract? I use the $1000000 bill tracts and have only only had 1 person hand it back (however I think she didn't realize I was actually giving it to her to keep).

Amen. I’ve heard stories of people coming to faith because of a gospel tract or even a street preacher proclaiming the message. No matter how poor our presentation is, God can use it for his glory. That’s definitely not an excuse to not be bolder, or Louder, or more loving. But it is a weight of the shoulders knowing God will use anything as simple as a tract to bring someone to him.

Brother Serah, how do you assert that God allows the shedding of innocent blood to appease him due to your sins? How do you assert that the Almighty God allows someone else to pay for your sins? Then would you really deserve a dwelling in heaven when you did nothing to earn it?
Brother listen. No blood offering, of beast or bird, or man, can take away sin. yea, even Christ's Precious Blood. For how can the conscience be purged from sin by the shedding of innocent blood? Nay, it will increase the condemnation.

I too work on the streets to bring the gospel to people and people often listen and engage. Yeah, I agree that the gospel is urgent and must be spoken. Fear is something to overcome. I disagree with the need to ask for permission. Jesus, who has all authority in heaven and on earth has commanded us to go and tell. We have the authority to tell people. Of course, that does not mean we should be rude but rather understanding. Thanks for this encouraging video.

I believe God has given a burden to specific people to spread the Gospel by different ways and different people have different calling. God can use someone to share it by building a relationship and some are given a calling by God to preach it openly in the air so in that way, there would be truly no excuse for man because either way the Gospel is shared. God has reserved different callings for different people in the kingdom of God so please dont condemn different ways of spreading the Gospel. Ultimately, the only thing that can lead to a successful and effective outcome is by the power of the Holy Spirit that enables us to spread the Gospel in any way.

We can't predict the future, any avenue could be better than the other. Thus it's only about what feels right, but since feeling is unreliable and based off of even less information than intentional intentions, it's safe to say that anything we choose to do is only as "right" as we view it.

The answer to the question is no. The Kingdom is supernaturally relational. Discipleship is relational. The command was to make disciples. Our (American) culture is very individual when we were designed to be tribal.

  • @somadeadeenitanayomide9875

I see this understanding in men of our time as deception as we continue to believe Christianity is a done deal.
Thank you Pastor John for mentioning the urgency. If we all wait for the world to relate first before witnessing, then we make a lot of people prone to the coming doom which respects no one except the truly saved in Christ.
It's okay to go the relationship way, but only when compulsory or decerned, many die daily and the Gospel is an assignment of a King (JESUS).
    It undoubtedly requires haste!

  • @kurtgundy
    @kurtgundy Před rokem

Keep in mind "Success” doesn’t depend on you. The Holy Spirit takes care of changing people’s hearts.
Several common experiences of life can lead to gospel conversations.
    1. Death
“What do you think would be the best/worst way to die?”
Lends itself well to this follow-up:
“What do you think happens after you die?”
    2. Morality.
“How do we know what’s right or wrong? Do you think there is anything that is inherently wrong in all cultures? Don’t you think it’s weird that all children seem to have an innate sense of fairness?” When they experience what they consider unfair, they object. Is this a sign that God’s law is written on all of our hearts?
    3. Religion
“Do you think that religion contributes to or detracts from becoming a good person? Do you think religion makes society better off or worse off? Are you more or less likely to trust someone if they’re religious?” This transitions well into a discussion about how your faith is in the person of Jesus Christ, and not in a religious movement/church denomination.
    4. Human Nature
I knew there were decisions I made that were unhealthy and harmful to myself and others, but I made them anyway. When I thought about my inability to consistently make good decisions-and recognized that others struggled with the same problem, I had to wonder what was wrong with people.
“Do you think people are inherently good or inherently bad?”
If they think that people are inherently good, they have to answer for all the bad. If they believe people are inherently bad, ask them what can be done about it. This is the perfect segue into a discussion of your faith.
    5. Goodness
Some people object, Evil exists because God isn’t good or he lacks the power to stop it. But the inverse of this argument is also interesting. Considering the fact that mankind has always experienced difficulties, plagues, wars and famines, why do we expect it should be different? “Why do we all assume we deserve good experiences?”
For the Christian, the fact that we ask ourselves these questions make sense. We weren’t created to live in a broken world full of turmoil and constant struggle. We long for the utopia we were created to experience.

I’m a believer, and take the Great Commission seriously, but why would you feel the compulsion to share the Good News in the check-out line? Surely there were times when Peter and Paul went quietly to the market for some bread, no?

    • @ThePolishIsRemoved
      @ThePolishIsRemoved Před 3 lety +1

It could be by the Holy Spirit’s leading. And it could be from love for God and love for people. It could be a compulsion to tell people the good news and really wanting them to be saved. It could be a sensitivity to the urgency of the mission. Not that we always stop and talk with everyone in our field of vision, but that person at the store may be close to salvation by grace through faith, they may have yet to hear the gospel more times until getting saved, but they need to hear the good news of Jesus.

Asking someone who has never engaged in real evangelism the way the early apostles and disciples did is of little value. Christ was, is and forever will be the greatest “street” preacher or open air preacher. He was killed for it as were some privileged to carry that banner. The WORD and the SPIRIT are what convict people. Peter in Acts 2 OPEN AIR PREACHED and over 3,000 were born again. The fruits will follow true Christians, Matthew 7. Many think they are and even hold “titles” in churches but what they do behind closed doors???? Wooo… cant even mention it! But GOD sees it all.
GOD is the one who ministers through HIS chosen instruments. This pastor is more of a teacher/pastor, NOT an evangelist.

It's not the method, it's because of these three issues:
      1. Street preaching is not done through a heart of love
      2. As sin/individualism/greed increase, hate and anger increase towards the truth. (even from Christians)
      3. Bad past experiences with "Christians" who are in sin
