I bought a Sanyo C-4 boombox for my dad in 1983 and got it back when he passed away. The C4 has 5.5wpc and detachable speakers (up to five feet apart). With 4" vented woofers bass is 3dB down at 70Hz. The 1.5" tweeters provide good dispersion. Though the cassette deck is ok you can add another tape deck or CD player and turntable. The five band equalizer is effective and gives some flexibility to this component. FM has good sensitivity and good reception. It reproduces classical music quite well and is ideal for a small room. It runs on battery or house current. Very satisfactory performance.

Был у меня такой. 30 лет верой и правдой служил. Очень удобный аппарат.

I brought one back in the day . . . . do you remember how much they went for . . . or how many units Sanyo sold or made of the C4?

@@beautifulportland9592 Not really. In Sweden Sanyo were imported and sold exclusively by a chain called Expert, now gone bust. It was big then though. Sanyo were priced in the middle, I would guess the C4 sold for about 70-80 USD then, with our VAT of 25%. Volumes, no idea. Sanyo did not stand out, it was mid range, Sony, Panasonic were at the top when it came to ordinary customers appreciation of brands. But we moved a few in my shop, 20 maybe.

@@GREENTICKETRO I seen a video on CZcams breaking the unit. I wonder how he did it.

@@MartinTorres-wr4pj- the cassette deck can be separated from the receiver section and the speakers can extend to almost five feet apart. The speakers are very good; 4" vented woofer is flat to 70Hz (-3dB). The 1.5" tweeters offer clean treble and good dispersion. Thrusting 5.5wpc this ain't no powerhouse but is excellent for small rooms. The five band EQ is helpful in adjusting the sound. FM tuner is quite good and you can add a turntable and other tape decks by unplugging the attached cassette deck. It even has an extra Aux input (for a CD player?). Runs on either batteries or house current. I paid about $250 for this in 1983 when I got one for my dad. Got it back when he passed in 1999. Still use it in our upstairs 800cu/ft office/room. It's boss.

@@martyjewell5683 I was thinking that. There is a guy on CZcams that did it.

@@MartinTorres-wr4pj- it's really a swell hifi "system". I have the speakers 4+ feet apart and sound is spacious and panoramic. I used a CD player with it once and was quite impressed with sound quality. Sadly, with "useful" bass response to only a bit below 70Hz true deep bass is lacking. However, the bass that is there is surprisingly satisfying. I find the C-4 does sound good with classical music if volume levels are kept reasonable. Really dig my Sanyo C-4.
