This dude is a real player. Edmonton is lucky to have a solid depth man like him.
As a Blues fan, I always felt the coaching staff never gave Kostin the leash he needed to blossom. I was always so high on him and did not think trading him at that junction of his career was a smart move.
I genuinely hope he has an incredible career with Edmonton, I’ll be rooting for the lad

Fellow Blues fan here, and now that I’m paying closer attention to the inner workings of the franchise, I’m starting to understand why they went so long w/o ever winning a Cup... and why the 19-20 win was more than likely a fluke.
Binnington’s tantrums aside, they’re forever shooting themselves in the foot by hamstringing greatness, then trading it away, while clinging to a flash-in-the-pan greatness like their lives depended on it. And I’m not just talking about Kostin. They gave up O’Reilly and Acciari to Toronto (who is now in the playoffs, and the Blues are nowhere to be seen), and Tarasenko to the Rangers (who are ALSO in the playoffs, and the blues are nowhere to be seen).
They say hindsight is 20/20, but this is starting to feel intentional.

Oilers had a media day at West Edmonton Mall & a fan tried to take a picture with Kostin in a flames hoodie, he said no & made the fan take off the Calgary hoodie, he gets it beauty move from him.

One of the best parts is everyone calls him Klim Shady and they played Slim Shady after his goal and hes absolutely jamming on the bench singing to it. Edmonton Legend for sure

He's become such a fan favourite, that the popular choice of player for fans who got a Reverse Retro jersey, apart from McDavid, was Kostin. And Kostin's game definitely hearkens back to that 2000's era; gritty, honest and hardworking, with a few goals here and there over the course of a season.
What are you talkin about, that simply isn't true at all. I like Kostin as much as the next person, but seriously, don't lie, his jersey is nowhere near the best selling Retro reverse jersey for the Oilers or most requested.
Never did I say it was the best-selling. And I've seen plenty of Kostin RR's out there.
Klim has just oozed personality since he's joined. On AND off ice. His distinct playstyle where he's very physical, his clearly standing up for teammates, and trying to prevent fights (going out of his way to say to the rivals "No. You don't wanna do this" and even PROTECTING the rivals to stop them from getting too pummelled), his random bear hugs he gives teammates, his hilarious menace antics with Tony Brar. I hope he's in the team for a long time.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. The clip of him vibing to "The Real Slim Shady" in last night's game with a look of "fuckin a rights, that's who I am".
Gratefulness is a good virtue.
Klim shady has been great to watch this year. Big, physical, can score and very willing to drop the gloves whenever. Hope he stays in edmonton long term!

kostin has made me a bit of a casual oilers fan, been watching them a bit more cuz he just kinda has that energy that makes you want to cheer for him, that goal made me genuinely happy! wish him nothin but the best honestly

I think Edmonton has a huge appreciation for 3rd/4th line grinder/gritty players after watching Ryan Smyth. He gave everything for the team night in and night out no matter where he was slotted in the lineup he never complained. He was always top notch with fans off the ice. He set the bar and when we see guys that possess the same characteristics we usually fall in love lol.
100%, couldn't have said it better myself. guys like Ryan Smyth show that the heart and soul doesn't always come from the top line all stars sometimes it comes from the lower roster guys and then they become fan favorites because they show that they will work day in and day out for the team no matter the result. Huge reason why I'm a big Smyth fan myself
Yes, Klim has been a great player picked up by Holland for Samorukov. Love his personality, laugh and smile. He skates, stick handles, big hits, and shoots well. If he plays a full 82 games (in beast mode), he could score 15 or perhaps even 20 goals. 👍 Hope the Oil can re-sign him to a cap-friendly long term contract.

I loved him as a player and now I love him as a person he was so genuine and you could really tell he meant every word he said
He plays hard every shift, great attitude, hits and has fit in well with the team. Easy to see why Oil country has embraced him. Another thing: this guy is talented and has the potential to easily be a 20+ goal scorer. That goal he scored last night? 87mph wrist shot off the post from the top of the circle and he has had a few more like that (as well as numerous posts) this year. Not many guys can shoot it like him.
he's also been injured a few times this year.. i can only bet he'll be better next year

Players with personality are sorely lacking in the NHL. That’s why guys like Subban, Zegras, and the Tkachuks are so prominently featured in their social media. So many players come across duller than white bread and while I’m sure they’re not actually like that (the hot mic from last nights game being a good example of that), it’s hard to get really excited about white bread if you’re either new to the sport or frustrated with your team’s performance. So Im glad to see that there’s another player helping bringing more excitement back to the game
