Little shout out to the USA for being the ONLY country where a college application cost money lmao (+Australia, India, Singapore, Brazil and UK so far. But it's much cheaper there)
Add Brazil in this, but you don’t really “apply”, you have to do a test and only the best ones get in and it’s about the same amount or a little bit cheaper, depends on the currency
Not just admissions. You have to pay for sending your tests scores and taking the damn tests that are REQUIRED to apply. Where I live taking ONE test is $94. The whole process of taking tests and applying costs like $1,000+. The US college application system is a dumpster fire of stupidity.
The worst thing about the US, is that to go to university is bloody expensive . In the UK, we do pay for applications but under UCAS. You are limited to five choices and it costs £24 pounds with schools and £30 independently. Also, if you’re apply to oxbridge you pay for admissions or you get them for free, it depends on if the school will pay for you.
CaramelFlan OfSecrets i’ve only ever heard of paying for the tuition and course in singapore, never really admissions because all you really need to do is submit your grades for any nationwide examinations we have taken (usually it’s already done for us) and then choose our schools online. having to pay for admissions is kinda stupid imo
R.I.P... I know the pain of this as I have applied to 6-7 colleges..... but a goodd tip for people who are worried about paying for all this stuff. 1.) Ask your guidance counselor for a fee waiver (this will reduce or remove the application fee) 2.) Apply early and make sure that you are not applying with early decision (early decision usually means that if you are accepted into that school you will only go to that school and decline other offers) 3.) Make sure you have completed things your state requires (NC requires your RDS) 4.) The ACT and the SAT have waivers so you don't have to pay for taking these test 5.) Try to take the ACT or SAT twice that way you can super score your results (super score means that some colleges will take only the best scores from 2 or more tests) 6.) Know who you are going to ask recommendations from. (ASK THEM IN Person) teachers don't like getting an email about this. 7.) Look for scholarships early and work with your guidance counselor because for some scholarships you have to be nominated. 8.) Make a resume (normal or educational) colleges ask for this Thanks all I can think of and I hope it helps! Things will be fine just don't procrastinate and if you have questions ask a teacher or idk ask here maybe someone will know.... Edit: made a typo
Another tip is that after you take the SAT, there's a time period before you get your results that you can submit it to 4 colleges for free. The downside is that you won't know the score until after they've sent. But I'm gonna save a lot of money bc I sent a score to almost every school I'm applying to after taking it twice

This is just my guess but I think there are some things you can find out by one's favorite snack. If their snack is traditional to their culture (red bean ice vs. chips) it probably means their culture is very important to them. There are a couple other things too, but you get what I mean.
