  • I finally got around to demoing couple more guitars. This time my prewar Martin 1929 0-28K vs my Martin 1930 Style 00-28 2015 Circa(John Slobod build). IMO, the Circa guitar is about as close as any current day luthier can get to a vintage Martin tone of this era. But that's just my opinion having played many. Would love to hear what others think by listening "close up" to the video comparison. Always fun to take some time to put these guitars to the test prior to studio recording! Blessings today, Ken

Thanks for sharing Ken, these vintage Martins are truly special. Every time I play my 1891 0-2 1/2 parlor (the model Mark Twain owned) I’m amazed, and so is everyone who hears it.)

Ken -- lovely tone. The 0-28K has never sounded better.

Thanks Jim, yeah that koa really opened up nicely after some 95 years🙂--and still plays like a dream. I love that well done setup, bar frets are perfect!

Good Morning Ken, Both guitars are beautiful and sound amazing. Do you have a preference on strings ? I’ve been using 11-52 80/20 elixirs. Thank you for the video. Ben

Please use the money from this video to buy yourself a guitar stand.

The sound of the 1928 is as nice as any guitar ever built.

There really is no better guitar stand than leaning it on an upholstered piece of furniture.
