It's great seeing Sean using knees and teep here. Also, we love Sean because we get to see him sparring leading up to his fights and he spars anybody. Yeah Sean is very elusive, he reads fighters so well. People felt Izzy looked slow and that's because Sean read him like a book..he was like a shadow Izzy's strikes. Look at what Sean can do with just his hands and imagine what he can do if he opens that tool box and actually is very skilled in those aspects..and the thing is, he is. He's just gotta not be stubborn and fall into a macho slugfest with Costa. Costa loves fighting that way but Costa also loses a lot. Sean goes to decision often, so he has to remember the optics and better yet, once his opponents are clearly tired he needs to take them down and submit them rather than chasing for that KO. By the way, this is bellator's current middleweight champ..who just won against the PFL champ for the SUPER BELT. haha So that's why there's onlookers. This is very cool and Sean looks to be doing very well. They spar often.

I wish sean would sort of adopt a half philly shell and transition to a standard boxing stance. He's said repeatedly he doesn't like getting hit in the face, but the problem is it costed him the DDP fight. In the last round he really let it go and took risks and got hit but also got some damage out, but he needs to understand its OK to be knocked out by Alex, the philly shell is a great offense because you can walk people toward the cage, but when they have nowhere to go I think he should get rid of the philly shell and switch traditional so he can really get some extra power in his hands and cause more damage. I get part of his allure is being able to throw from weird angles and can read your muscles very well. Philly shell at range for offense/defense, then when he gets in the pocket he should go traditional and get some power. He just needs to trust his chin more and take some more risks. You can't throw a perfect check hook, uppercut, or overhand counter in that stance without telegraphing. He's essentially countering what YOUR throwing with straights and crosses because those are always faster than hooks.
He did exactly that against Adesanya. When you're a 200lb+ guy you don't need to throw 100% anyway. 60% power clean on the chin plenty enough to knock dudes out.
@@Global-Grit plenty of dude that don't weigh 200+ lbs. Weight is irrelevant here because they all weigh about the same. That's the whole point of weight classes...
What he does is great, just need to mix it up and add some kicks and deterrence with the take downs to make guys like DDP think twice about attempting take downs again. DDP got him down and all he got in response was Sean quickly standing back up. Like his coach said he should have make DDP pay for that each time, and the teep is really helps when guys are rushing. Sean fights to decision so often that optics are more important than ever. Once Sean gets these guys into deep waters, 4th round or so he should be taking them down. You'll see his opponents at the end of their fights with looks on their faces happy they lasted the fight. I mean they look as if they're not even thinking about judge decisions but rather just happy to have finished the marathon. He has to stick to what he does best but just little things here and there will remind the opponent that there's more to worry about. They need to fear the possibility of a knee to the face or takedown.
