The fact that he chose sobriety over pain meds after such a traumatic event is huge. Not everyone is able to handle both emotional and physical pain this well. This is strength.

Wasnt it great the doc said, you were doing so great on the medication and Travis had to be like, I’m doing so great off of them...typical, docs trying to push drugs someone doesn’t need on them to boost their kickbacks from the pharmaceutical reps and companies. Not all, but there’s a fair share of docs who are nothing more than drug dealers in lab coats.

I did atleast 2 perk 30s since 2008. I got clean in 2017. In 2019 i fell off a ladder and broke my leg right below my knee. I told the emt's and nurses and doctors i had a problem and that i didnt want to mess with my sobriety. I woke up during both my surgery's he meds didnt touch the pain. I feel Travis when he said i would wake up in the middle of surgery swinging on doctors.

I think being a dad and also waking up while they are operating cause they drugs they use to operate on you are immune to would have been a powerful wake up call also losing two people you know that could have been you. Tremendous story. He could have went one way but choose to embrace his luck to make chances. Fantastic man.

When he said he finally got to shower by himself, that hit hard. Folks that have been hospitalized for a long time will understand how huge that accomplishment feels. I remember after I had my bone graft. And I couldn’t really do anything for myself and was ridden for almost a month. Which a lot of people have done far longer than that. But really puts things into perspective when you have to rely on someone just to do the simplest tasks. Like showering, getting food or eating, using the bathroom, or even just changing positions in bed.
Gets you feeling a little nuts pretty quickly. So I really applaud people with disabilities who permanently have to deal with that.

As a drummer myself, Travis gets some flack for being mainstream and called “the best” when even he knows he isn’t... but hearing his strength of character, coming back strong from so much, and also learning to play the game and run his hustle to the highest possible caliber is just mind blowing. It’s kinda like when people give Lars Ulrich shit for not being very proficient at his craft. He still understands what will get a crowd going, what will fit a thrash song well, and at the end of the day, he’s worth $300 million and basically nobody else is, so... yeah. Anyway. Point being. Travis is a gangster, he’s a tougher cut than your average human.

Well I almost lost my mom, actually I did lose my mom to these kind of pills. Her entire life she had struggled working and rebuilding herself after the war in Yugoslavia, here in Denmark. I know of no women that has endured more suffering then her and yet still had the capability to build a family and future for me and my sister. There came a point in her life where she injured her back and kinda fell into a depression. I guess for her not being able to work (cuz that is what her life always had been) was kinda tough for her. The doctors decided to put her on these kinds of anti-depressent drugs that turned my mom into a mere zombie. Within a short period of time I lost my mom, and I was suddenly along with my sister left for ourselves. The drugs made her have no emotions, she had no feelings, and would sit staring into a wall for most part of the day. People would tell me how sorry they were for me, as they saw her walk the streets like a ghost. This lasted for about 8 years and became worse when they wanted to treat those symptoms with more drugs, that eventually made things worse. So i did lose my mom.
At the age of 23 i developed cancer and had been miss-diagnosed for about a 1 year, allowing the cancer to spread into my body. During this time I finally gathered the courage to convince my mom to face the darkness that she would meet once she stopped the pills. I told her, that I needed mom my back, because I would not survive my own disease without the help of my mother. Short story, was that my mom helped me recover through cancer treatment and has recovered herself. She is now once again the loving humanbeing that sees other people before herself, helping where she can and always trying to do her best to leave this planet a better place. As for me, i am lucky enough to still be able to sit here and write this message, for that I am thankful. - I would advice people to meet the darkness full force, instead of avoiding it, the darkness is the best molder in life, if one is to surpace the pain that it brings, it is life changeing. I eventually also came to understand that the darkness we meet is ourselves, and a reflection of our own thoughts and ego.

At the time, I was working for a limo company, and was summoned to be the driver for Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) the night before. I was there at LAX in the morning before noon, waiting for my queue, to meet him at the arrival waiting area, when my boss had called me back to the office to tell me the news.
I had been his driver for nearly a year, even for special events in the LA area. Including after the accident.
I was really saddened once I had heard he passed, almost a year after the plane accident.
Last time I saw him, was at the airport, and he thanked me for always being there for him.
    Miss you Adam.

The plane's wings were not de-iced properly and it went down. I remember the fkd up feelings of loss, and guilt from not dying with them. Then came deployments to the middle east. It's crazy what the mind can overcome. Praise be to God for my life! Insanity for sure. Good job on keeping that sobriety that's a rare thing, bruh! For a few years after he came back out in public and started playing drums again he didn’t seem right and seemed kinda out of it, even in pictures he seemed off but now it’s so great to see Travis looking and acting totally normal the way we all know and love him. People hate on this man and his drumming and that it’s all show and no skill but this man has truely been a pioneer for this kind of music and the style of drumming he brought to this style. So many drummers in the pop punk/scene bands emulate Travis and his set up and the way he dresses and talks and drums. He’s truely an iconic figure in music. He was so original and was so different than every other drummer back then. His funky hip hop style to punk music has been very resfreshing. Some of the beats and patterns he came up with over a blink riff is iconic and so amazing. Such a great writer of drum parts and making simple music with simple guitars and bass sound more complicating because of his beats.
