Great tip! I have had a 560SL for 6 months and did the oil with the filter dropping below, I with I knew this tip then. Just bought a 87 560SEC and didn't know the canister drops in.

A good working chain tensener has got a spring in it to avoid the chain slapping on the chainguard.
Great advice with regard to getting the oil pressure up before starting the engine!

Which would you choose? 560sl or newer 500sl ? Both look physically good neither running. About the same price. What’s the better choice?

No harm will be done. It's just simply doing it's job a little longer.
