Duncan verbalize something I just could not put my finger on. Our country is at a point where Republicans are what we need to be protected against. What a shame that more Republican leaders have not taken Duncans honor stand. Like it says in Mark 8:36 "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his own soul?". That is what I would like to say to MTG, Gaetz, McConnell, Mike Johnson and all the rest of those who support trump for self serving purposes. They are like the money changers in the Temple that Jesus went after. Acting like they are there to honor God but really there to make money. Heartbreaking.

I have never voted for a republican because I followed the teachings of Christ. Republicans to me were the farthest away from those teachings. Do I agree with democrats on everything? No! But, I felt as a Christian I need to follow what Jesus said. Take care of the least among you. As the richest country in the world, we can well afford to take care of the widows, orphans , the elderly and the poor. These teachings of Christ should not be demonized. Come to Texas and you might change your assessment. My high school was named to honor Robert E. Lee-the Civil War general who led the killing of thousands of Americans over his supposed right to own black people as slaves. Lee claimed to be a Christian, as were the people who named my school in 1961, in blatant opposition to desegregation. The Republican platform under Trump is actually White Supremacy, though rebranded under the dog whistle “Anti-Woke.” It is actually anti-Christ.

I find it interesting that people always seem to be touting "lifetime member of a political party". When I first paid attention to politics I had no idea what side I was on. I think I settled on conservative for the most part. Mainly because I consider myself a frugal person. But I always felt voting was about choosing the best "person" for the job. And the best person was generally the one with the best policy at that time. In other words I didn't just vote for the person on "my team" every time.
Politics is a spectrum, and the line between right and left is constantly changing. If you are always voting for one side of the fence that tells me, your ideology is probably slanted a bit to the extreme end. And nowhere do we see that more than in present times.
I prefer the center and I have no problem voting for either team, depending on who comes closest to my center. I don't think there is any question who that would be in 2024.

The current Republican party is vastly different from pre-Trump and MAGA. Civil discourse and disagreement are extremely rare at present.
The two party system and strong opposition to the governing party is essential in a healthy democracy. I believe third part votes are wasted votes and as Mr Duncan said, the only way for the Republican Party to return to the admirable Conservative Party of pre-Trump years, is for them to be defeated in November. There are a lot of Republican politicians who are younger, and with backbone and integrity, to steer them back to normality.

No real republican would vote for Biden as his current policies are opposed to Republican policies but also the Christian faith itself . A Republican who does not want to vote for Trump should either dont vote or vote third party . The so called case against Trump has been an ad hom attack and not actual policies . We have the policy record of both Trump and Biden. That’s the issue and not personal morality. Both Trump and Biden meet the constitutional requirements for the presidency. Biden’s overall policies are inconsistent and oppose the Christian faith .

Yeah, that's a hard one for me, honestly. On the one hand, it's easy to say he just wouldn't concern himself with the affairs of the world - he has bigger fish to fry. But I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing (at least not from an explicitly Christian perspective) if I didn't think he'd have more to say about it. I think he would call out people who are doing and saying things in his name - at a minimum he would draw a distinction between his message and a false message that powerful people are spreading in his name. At least I hope so - otherwise I'm kind of out on a limb here, because that's pretty much what I'm trying to do.

2 weeks ago, The Kansas State Supreme Court declared that their citizens do not have the right to vote. The federal Supreme Court has been silent on this issue. They don't seem to have any plans to overturn this ruling. I understand not wanting to exercise your right to vote. But please be aware that this might be the last vote we ever have the freedom to cast. Trump and the Heritage Foundation are believers in the unitary executive theory. And so are 6 of the Supreme Court judges (as they have proven with their immunity ruling). Dictators do not allow people to vote. We can fix bad policy and the fact we are stuck with only 2 parties, but we have to ensure we have the right to vote otherwise we will not be given the chance to fix those things. Protect our democracy first, and then, once that is secure, we can work on fixing it.
