People defending their rights are always looked at as annoyances in the present and heroes in history. Civil rights advocates frequently would do obnoxious things like refusing to leave white only restaurants, or using white only bathrooms even when they could have just moved a couple feet and caused no issue. Yet no one will deny they are instrumental to our freedoms today.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with how the "iceman" cop/guard interacted with you and he did not threaten you. He is not obligated to have a bubbly personality. I think you overreacted and being purposefully naive with him simply saying you can't film and there is signage that you failed to see via the bus ride. The bus stop being located on the facility is completely irrelevant. What you fail to realize is that they don't know you and your filming is threatening the security of a secure facility and the people that work there. I get that is not your intent, but you need to realize that secure facilities is not a place for this crap. Part of threat assessments is to report people casing (filming, pictures, etc) the place as that is one way to recognize a possible future attack on the facility. Lastly, in order to "de-escalate" a situation, both sides need to show they want that. The guy simply asked you that you can't film on prison property and said there is signage at the entrance that says so and asked you to stop filming (yes, he asked who you are and why are you there.... what do you expect?). You in turn should have respected what he said and walked to the entrance to verify what he said is true (if you are a true reporter) and if so follow the rules. If not, then call the appropriate people to get answers behind why you can't film. If you have a problem with said rules violating your rights, then you need to take the action to the state or courts. You are not being a so called "observer" when you create the situation. So are you an observer or someone that goes out to create the situation to get a response? I'm not sure how this has anything to do with the 1st Amendment rights on a "secure government facility with signage" as the property you where on is not a "public place"!

Don't know why CZcams steered me here. I don't care for channels of this kind nor do I care for people claiming their "Rights" to film in the same manner as those who claim their right to bear weapons. The person of this channel drove up here to instigate and propigate a situation in the hope of getting footage of some correctional officer - security personnel performing their "duty" of removing him from private property. It's obvious for every normal man or woman who has at least a normal level of intelligence, that the filming or photographing of a correctional institution (prison) is to prevent surveilance of such property to prevent security breaches of any kind. Your pretence is in the hope of getting some wild footage of being escorted off the property to gain clicks on youtube or whatever other social media you use. What you're disrespecting is also the "right" of every other person to not be filmed without explicit permission issued by them thereselves. In Europe that is an offence and to the least degree a misdemeanor and would be punished by law.... and in the eyes of every person outside of the USA... a no go. The police would confiscate your camera, phone or other device for deletion of such footage. For some reason many americans have this mentality of "do what I want". It dosn't work that way. As Scott above wrote also. I saw no aggressive intention from the young male officer. It's your intention to provoke, you are the agressive actor in this footage pretending to be in a defensive position. Your claims of being a reporter are childish. I took a minute to look at your channel content and ALL your videos have the same tone and color of pretent. As many today try to "get rich quick" over the cost of others ... I find this content offensive and a misuse of falsely understood laws or ammendments twisted to fit as you wish. You obviously do well with your provacative baiting and "selling" your footage to those who think just as you do.
I for my part do NOT.

It is a fairly safe assumption on his part that he was not in any violation. Not once did he attempt to antagonize these corrections officers, never raised his voice, and never caused a scene in any way. Also generally speaking, the signage in the public parking area is technically unconstitutional unless that is a non-state, private prison. Beyond the gate, in restricted areas, a government owned building like that can 100% not allow filming, but not in a publicly accessible area.

It is their job to deescalate, correct, but it is every citizen responsibility, even when it is not their job, to do the same.
Incidentally, I would appreciate if You could deescalate the tone of Your comments, please. We don't know each other, thus we have no reason at all to disrespect each other.
I do not know if it is correct or not that filming is forbidden in the area, but it seems to be clearly announced that it is forbidden.
I think he is wasting their time because it is not a cop-like-officer's job to assess the correctness of the established regulation, their job is to see that regulations are followed.
If that regulation is not correct, there are institutionalized means to present the issue to the correct public-officer (to some judge-like-officer I'd guess, or petition to representatives, etc., but not arguing with a cop, who probably has no authority to do anything about it).
Institutions are important because those constitutional rights make sense within a State framework, take the State away and the constitutional rights go with it.
Just as a note, it mesmerizes me championing for constitutional rights by invoking the revocation of said rights for a person who merely expressed his perplexity for someone else behavior, I might not know the US constitution, but I would be surprised if it didn't include the constitutional right of not having any constitutional right revoked for just expressing an opinion.

As soon as he heard he was actually on prison grounds he needed to turn the camera off! But no, he wanted to sit there and argue.

@@chris2790 If the prison doesnt want their facility filmed they should put a curtain around it because if there's no law against filming the prison from outside the prison, the man can film all he wants to film and it shouldn't have even been an issue. Inside the area that they control, where the general public isnt allowed, they can make and enforce whatever rules they want and if you dont follow those rules they can make you leave. If it's prison property where the public isnt allowed they can make you leave. The public is obviously allowed where this man was filming because a public bus stop was there. If they don't want people filming from that location then they need to move the bus stop to where the sign is posted saying you can't film.

@@brianwilson7694 Pretty sure the female officer stated the bus stop was back behind the sign, BUT even if it wasn't and the bus let off closer the the building, it's still on state property and likely done as a convenience. If they didn't do that, you'd have people moaning and whining about having to walk 30 yards or whatever. Now you have this self-important pain in the butt guy acting like an idiot. Who cares, the bus let him off - HE SAW the sign stating that filming was prohibited, but he ignored and and started arguing with the guards even after he was told he was on state property. Sorry, he's an idiot, just making a scene. He's lucky the second male cop didn't arrest him, he would have deserved it. I have little tolerance for either law enforcement abusing their powers or for citizens acting like idiots and making law enforcement's lives more difficult. But that's the problem, there are idiots on both sides with no sense of decency or common sense...

They told him to stop filming, it was state property NOT public property. Given that, they can chase off whoever they want if they don't have a legit reason for being there. It's NOT THAT complicated. Why cause a scene? It's people like him that screws everything up for everyone else, 'cause he's a wiseguy, an idiot, or both. WHAT'S THE POINT??? Good job SLO, you've really helped everyone out here...
Besides, his biggest complaint seems to be that daddy cop was too gruff with him, but mommy cop was extra nice in explaining everything to him, so he was happy, he felt so warm and fuzzy with her extra patience. And it didn't hurt that he had a crush on her.
The guy is just a trouble maker w/ no justification - he only went down there to cause a scene. He should have had his camera confiscated and wiped for disobeying a lawful order and being an idiot. And if he resisted, they should have arrested and charged him.

They politely inform him he can't take photos or videos, and he keeps coming back to "The bus dropped me off. I can't wait for the bus?" That's not what the officers said. They said you can't take photos or videos. Then with zero foundation of such a claim, he says "I feel like I'm being threatened." LOL. When? Is there a piece of video missing? Looks unedited to me. And yes, like she says, go through their media rep / public information officer. That's how the world works. This "reporter" doesn't seem to grasp the difference between being on site and recording video / taking photos. Even the officer being praised here says "You're actually not supposed to be recording." What does he do? He continues to record. Like come on, man, show some respect.
