    Thanks for listening, everyone! ☺
    Tip: If you are hearing weird compression (sudden volume drop):
    If you are on PC: click on settings on the right bottom of the video -> toggle off `stable volume`.
    If you are using the CZcams app: tap settings -> additional settings -> toggle off `stable volume`.

    Not many fan arrangement covers are usually accurate to a lot of instrumentation of the original songs, usually focusing in on the melody, which isn't a bad thing but can lose the touch of its initial appeal by chance, genuinely kinda blown away how very accurate and faithful this is to the original, not huge into knowing composition myself but god damn I must say I love this and you nailed down so much of it very nicely.

      Thank you so much!! I think my philosophy to do all these covers has always been to make them sound as close to the original as I can - 50% goes to getting the sound (acoustic instruments / synths / fx / etc...) right, 20% goes to getting the notes right and lastly 30% goes to getting the mixing sound right.. I am glad I did it in this one :)
      And you don't know how big of a smile this comment put on my face 😭😭

    wow this was awesome lol. this was my favorite song of the expansion and i tried starting my own arrangement of it a couple weeks ago but it's been so long since i've really arranged anything like this so it just sounded flat and underwhelming. hearing this actually inspired me to pick it up again and try giving it another shot so thank you for that :)

      I know that feeling, it requires tons of patience to get things right. This track took me at least 50 hours to arrange and mix, and it was painful ngl. But then you would be rewarded with a surge of dopamine when you get it done ;)
      I can give you a brain dump of what troubled me during the making of this track:
      For the piano,
      I will say there are so many details in the piano tracks, getting the notes / mix right will make a huge difference.
      For the drums,
      In order to make it sound full and interesting, I decided to embed some percussive loops underneath - they don't need to be super "audible" but they are necessary otherwise it would be flat and dull because it's not "noisy" enough. You can play with Action Strikes or Damage for the percussive loops.
      I was not able to achieve the punching feeling when I started mixing it. And then I tried to compress the entire drum buss after mixing the individual parts, it worked really well (I never compressed the entire drum buss before).
      For the synths,
      Just add a bunch of layerings when you find one track boring but be sure to EQ them so they don't sound too messy. For example, I did layer an electric guitar with a synth that mimics the guitar sound to get the Lead sound starting 1:50
      And if the synth doesn't feel "aggressive" enough, add noise to it you can see I have dedicated whitenoise tracks, I just use the built-in noise in Serum.
      That's pretty much what came to my mind, you got this!😉

      @@rh666 thank you very much for the insights! 🙏definitely taking some notes here, i'm so out of practice with composition nowadays that my workflow becomes super messy and i tend to forget lots of smaller details. genuinely really helpful to hear another musician's thought process. my mixes end up super muddy most of the time and im historically very lazy about EQing all my different layers properly lol. i definitely need to be more patient with the piece, your piano and drum tracks sound so clean, the effort really does show

    I can't ever listen to this theme (or either one of the variants to this alexandrian theme) without tears rolling down my face... Good job, your version sounds great!

    You have an excellent ear! Obviously there will be some liberties taken when trying to recreate a song like this but you nailed the assignment! I'm not very good with music theory but there were many moments were the chord changes, instrument layering and instrument choices were bang on the original, and in cases like the "drop" I'd say your version actually has a little more presence and oomph.
    Really enjoyed listening to this one!

      @@rh666 I used to muck around in FL studio trying to recreate songs I enjoyed, so I know firsthand the struggle. You're leagues better than I was so I am happy to live vicariously through you! xD

    I was lookin' forward to the bit at 0:47 .... but the little digital downward chromatic scale didn't happen.

    • @rh666
      @rh666  Před měsícem

      I actually wrote it in that violin track but the legato is just too quiet and these notes are not really audiable after mixing, should have made them louder :P

    • @Nimoot
      @Nimoot Před 22 dny

      @@rh666 I think in the original they kind of had all the notes of the chromatic scale, they almost sound digital with how incredibly short, yet clear they are... it's almost as if it's staccato but not.
      (Still enjoyed it though 😛 )
