- This is my brand new Subaru Impreza 2023. It's the first time I bought a brand new car since 2006 when I got the Scion xA. I still have my Scion but I needed something more reliable and safe becuase I have a baby on the way 😳
But if you know me I can not leave the car stock, so here is a list of my first 6 mods that I have done to the Subaru Impreza 2023 hatchback.

Yea i got it from amazon they have a carbon fiber kit thats a plastic overlay for the vents and they have some colored ones for the top vents that i got as well even for the steering wheel

Thats awesome, , I do dig the older body style as well. Really happy with how its turning out and I did drive it in a small snow storm the other day and it was good

Bring your car into my autoshop in GTA V Online. I'll hook you up with bullet proof wheels, neon lights under the car. 100% armor. Turbo, EMS Upgrade. And the back to shoot out banana peels, & the front to shoot out Koopa Shells.
O wow you can do all that in GTA V. I never played any of those games. Seen some gameplay. Thats cool you can customize cars in there
@@RussLyman except for the banana peels and koopa shells. I made that part up. But there is a flying car you can get that looks like the Back to the future car. I play old school games & new games. I just got a Japanese Super Famicom game You should paint your new car with the original NES The LEgend of Zelda Overworld Map. It will look sick, In a Good way.
Just wanted to say I also recently got a subaru impreza (and funnily enough my previous car was also a scion xa) and am looking forward to modifying mine! These all look great!
O wow what are the odds ha. Love it. I haven't done a recent mods to the Subaru other than adding a rear bumper diffuser.
I'm working on re painting my Scion for an upcoming Game Convention that it will be in.

ah man, this looks sick! I really envy the exhaust install. I wanted to mod my 2019 Impreza but I just can’t bc I’m broke, but I also am deathly afraid to touch the thing considering I had a panic attack being under the car doing my oil change 🤣 but hopefully I can get over that some day and have enough saved to do it. Also I’m up in Mass like 20 mins away from the CT border so it’s cool to see people around with modded Imprezas.

Also in MA. Im in the market and the impreza seems like the most practical for the conditions up here though, Im very torn between this one and the mazda3 hatch awd turbo. The turbo would be more fun but the impreza jus seems made for this climate being a little more rugged.
@@likethislikethat916 I’m right there with you. I’ve been obsessed with the new Mazda hatch. It’s such a well designed car. I’ve never driven it before so I can’t really say as much to how it is in the winter, but they have AWD so I’d assume it’ll handle. It’s just whether or not you’d want the turbo at that point

yeah I watched a few comparison videos and thought they sounded great. I was looking at the quad tip with the 5" muffles but it was $200 more, so I was like No mufflers it is 😂
I just got a 2019 and my car is a reflection of yours without the front lip 😂 also I got a single exhaust nameless but the sticker is point on . Lift and tires for mine coming up next though . Hope to see more from your build !

When you rev the engine, I noticed a little blue smoke from the exhaust. Guess it still breaking in.
Well the car was less than a week old and we put the new exhaust on and test drove it within 5 mins soooo, yes it was still breaking in for sure
I have a 2020 base model but want the fog lights and sport rims first. That exhaust is my favorite mod. Can’t wait to install them.
yeah the fog lights help set it off. I really like the yellow bulbs and film so they really pop.
The upgraded rims help too with the overall look of the car.
I'm really liking the exhaust for the look and it sounds great. Yes it is loud but you could always spend a bit more and get the ones with the 5 mufflers to ton down the sound

Very impressive Sir. I just bought an 2021 sport hatchback in manual transmission about an month ago. I really envy your moon roof. I'm on an super tight budget so this far, two carbon flip up guard switches (made for the ignition button) which I put on the radio buttons LoL, Cross bar rack, rear and side window louvers and screens for the inside for the windows (tinting is so expensive & illegal to do it yourself in Alabama) I'm going to apply headlight tint to the LED lower lights, a Decepticon flip up guard button for the actual ignition, foot lighting, El wire, and an solar power trickle charger for my dash, deep blue overhead entry light. I did also order an 10x10 pop up car tent to keep from having to park under my "very" sappy trees. Bumper guards, door step in guards. Thanks for sharing I will have to try some of your ideas. Also I have an Decepticon logo for the front & rear grill Subaru logo, and an Decepticon flip up guard button for the actual ignition. Love your luggage rack and your exhaust, sounds great. 🏹🤠👍
I was debating on getting the manual or the sports model, but since this will be the "Family Car" I was find with the premium, but yes I had to have the sun roof and roof rails ha.
Yes I was thinking about adding some tints, but you do have to check local laws on that
OOOO good call on the pop up tent, you dont want to have to deal with getting sap off the nice new paint.

@@RussLyman I saw beast wars as an kid so I might actually go catch it. I did just add an Decepticon flip up guard for the engine start button. I'm going to pull off the lower black trim around the running light and paint the bumper section in matt black to match the cover. Then using silver grey tape I will highlight those two lower ribs. Before reinstalling though I'm going to overlay the LED light and make it look like an real fog light. Then on the upper grill I'll add some more silver grey tape to some grill ribs, topped off with my Decepticon overlay to cover the Subaru emblem. Eventually I'll do some pinstripes too. Oh almost forgot, I did just add those door ground "Decepticon" light logo that I got from eBay to both doors. It looks really cool. 🏹🤠👍

much appreciated. I really enjoy the Nameless brand. I would definitely recommend. It is a bit loud without the mufflers but the one with the two 5" mufflers was $200 more, sooooo wanted to save money

I am certainly loving that exhaust. It sounds great. I may try to sound deaden the trunk a bit just to cut on the droning on the highway
Had the 5 in muffler on my 2020 sport sedan. Could only stand it a couple weeks at a time. The drone was god awful at highway speeds. Traded in for 24 rs and afraid to pull the pin on nameless again.
Great video! Provides a lot of food for thought. I’m still waiting for the dealer to get my ‘23 Impreza in before I can get cracking my self. I look forward to the possibility of a part 2!

There will definitely be a part 2. I have to see if I want those side skirts on, looking to get a rear diffuser to make the back look more aggressive with that awesome exhaust.
It may be a while thought because I just had a baby so busy with that ha.

XD I just ordered an Impreza Base a few weeks ago. First upgrade will be the dreaded sway bar install.

mods i've done;
1.5"F + 1&7/8"R lift, and some larger 215/65 102H tires.
I didnt think the reduced ground clearance on this model would matter, but found myself bottoming out on the smallest speed bumps, drainage ditches, dirt roads were nightmarish.
Since installing these two mods I have not once bottomed out on any of the three things I mentioned in the last scentence.
I was almost going to get lower springs or coil overs since I do like the low look. But than I don't like scrapping going out of driveways or speed bumps. And this is the "Family Car" My other car is already low. So I settled with the Lip to help add some low

thanks so much for watching. So the front lip does have two chips out of it currently 😂 but what are you going to do ha. I like the look of it and just try to be mindful on taking hills and driveways at angles

I bought a white 2022 Premium last year. I got the rain guards, weather tech floor mats, Armor Guard mud flaps, the roof bars and I went with the Nameless muffled quad tip ( Love this exhaust ). A cold air intake, and I license plate relocation kit. I really like the look of the front sliter! I might have to get that next!
And I did the Black with Red badges.

Hey I'm curious did adding the exaust screw with your warranty at all. Looking to do something similar but don't want to outright void my warranty
I got a 2023 base model and I love the quad tip exhaust, was looking at Nameless's site and I'm heavily considering going for it
I definitely enjoy mine and think it looks and sounds great. It is a bit loud on the highway but it was like $300 more for the one with the 5" mufflers that would help quite it more, so loud it is.

Love it! I've got the 2020 with similar mods. There's not much for these at all. You've just about done everything I can find unless you want to lower it.

I have a bookmark with a few other things I want to do so hopefully there will be some future videos. I did plan on lowering it, but with the front lip on there and possibility of me adding the side skirts I might not need it
@@RussLyman I was considering the Billetworkz CVT adaptor and their Sphere shift knob but it is kind of pricey. Have you considered or seen the Forged Carbon Paddle Shifters by Aramaguard that are illuminous? I am about to order these for my 2018 Impreza

When you get to interior mods, look at the Billetworkz CVT adapter (so you can put pretty much any shift knob on your CVT shifter), and a steering wheel cover from East Detailing. For handling, your best start is aftermarket wheels (look at 18x8 +35, with 225/40-18 tires), a front strut tower brace (Nameless makes one), and a heavier rear sway bar (Megan Racing). The rear sway bar install will involve dropping the rear end, so maybe more than you want to do curbside. But the front strut tower brace goes on in minutes.

Just got a 2018 Subaru Impreza sport myself.. love your exhaust. Would you happen to know with that exhaust, would it void the warranty.. or because it’s from CAT back, it will be fine
Hey Kim thanks for the comment. Nice 2018 so all your parts will fit mine as well. From what I was told at the dealership it is still covered under warranty, but they wouldn't cover the after market exhaust itself.
So glad I came across your channel! I have an identical 2022. I tinted the windows, Vent Visors, crossbars, and a Thule cargo topper. I'm digging the front lip, good call on leaving the side skirts off... personal preference. Few questions.... How are the fog light's at night with the yellow on them? and in the snow? I've been looking at the Nameless exhaust also, but does it have drone at highway speeds? I think I'm leaning toward the kit with the 5" mufflers. Great video!

The Fog lights have been good I have been meaning to order the yellow bulbs as well to get them fully yellow. It hasn't snowed much here in CT to answer that yet.
The Nameless exhaust does have some loud drone sounds on the highway for sure. My friend also has the same car and exhaust and he said he did some sound deadening in the hatch area to help muffle that sound.
I probably would have gotten the one with the 5" mufflers but it was $200 more

Let me be very clear cuz I'm not hating 😅 I currently own a 17 STI and I'm actually about to downgrade to an Impreza just for practicality and reliability. But seeing the impreza rip with exhaust was pretty funny. Good stuff though glad you're enjoying your experience!.
Hey thanks for checking out the video. I am really enjoying the Subaru. I love hatchbacks, my first car was a Volkswagon Golf, than got my Scion xA, so I knew I wanted to stick with hatchback.
The all wheel drive and room is great, and I didn't want to get the Crosstrek because I think it was too large of a jump.

Definitely! I'm getting better mileage than my Scion xA with this one. It has a little gauge you can use as well to help improve the mileage with how you are driving
Does the exhaust get droney when u drive? I have a 2012 Impreza sport and wanting it to sound more sporty
It does get pretty drone unfortunately, but it's mostly on the highway. I want to add some sound deadening in the trunk to help with that.
But overall I still like it
Do you know a way how to remove the two metal pieces next to the emblem? The mustache as I call it?
Hey mate Subaru themselves sell the grill without the moustache, but I dareseay you can get an aftermarket grill for much cheaper....
Would the exhaust work on the 2019 Subaru impreza sedan as well? Or just the hatchback you think?
on the Nameless site they have an option to select the sedan, but it looks like the quad tip isn't on there. So I can't say if you just order the quad tip and try it, that it will fit. Maybe it doesn't have the hangers in the places to support it
I’m conflicted on getting this car because I know it’s not fast but I want one because of the cargo space and the aesthetics
I hear you, you can get the new WRX 2024 for more speed, but again not sure how much space you are willing to sacrifice for the speed.
I had this for a year now and added a few more mods and really enjoying it right now. I got it because my daughter was born and needed a more "family car"

Did you need to buy the exhaust hanger bushings that the offer when you add it to the cart? As well as the bushing removal tool? Trying to see if I need to spend the extra money on them or not
All I bought was the exhaust itself not extra parts. The car was only a week old though so getting the bushings off was pretty easy. You might need to add some WD40 to them and get in there with like a screw driver to pry them off.

Hello friend, I bought the exhaust but my 2017’s bolts are way too tight, when calling a performance shop to install it it costs about 150$ that’s way too much what should I do to get those bolts off….
Hey thanks for checking out the video. I would recommend using some WD40 or Liquid Wrench, Blaster.
Any of those products you can spray on the bottles and let them soak some.
you could also try using a torque wrench since it has a larger bar to get more torque on the bolts, or an impact gun

What year Impreza do you have? I will be working on the side skirts in the coming weeks. Going to have to make some type of bracket so it does not hide my mudflaps. It would be an easier instal if you did not have mudflaps
There’s plenty of wheels and suspension options for the platform now
Have you owned a WRX and if so, would you prefer this hatch over the WRX? I currently own a 2020 WRX and I always wanted a subi hatch but I hate that there is no longer stick shift available, but Subaru keeps pelting me with notices to trade up my vehicle. I wonder if these damn automatics is the future.....sadly...
Thanks for the comment Chris. I never owned a WRX, this is my first Subaru. I have seen the wagon WRX models but they stopped making them I couple of years ago, so that was not an option for a new car. My other car is standard (2005 Scion xA) so when getting this one I was ok with the automatic. This one does have the paddle shifters though, so I can still get a little bit out of it using those.
But yes I can see more companies making less and less standard models unfortunately
How did you go about putting on the fog light covers? I'm trying to figure out how to do this on my impreza!
i had to lay on the ground and reach up into the bumper to with a screw driver to unscrew the fog light assemble. I then added yellow tint film to it. I made a video here

than just re installed the same way. The car came with the fog lights already. So if you do not have any fog lights currently there might be a few more steps. Hope this helps some

I have a 2020 touring, I did the yellow fog lights with led headlights , rally armour mudflaps , license plate relocate , I had a nameless exhaust but I found it drone way to much on the hwy ,
Yes I need to order the led headlights, what brand did you go with? I also would like to get the yellow fog lights so they are more vibrant yellow.
The nameless exhaust is definitely droning on the highway. Future video idea, I might sound deaden my hatch area to try and soften the sound
@@RussLyman Amazon I got sea light for 50$ CAD and the high beam I paid 150 because I bought a brand name one because you need the cam bus resistor so the lights don’t flicker, I seen borla has a exhaust but it’s almost 700$ so I’m going to hold off on that for a while next is the roof rack like you have, also Amazon sells carbon fibre trim pieces for the vent and center hvac controls
Roof basket or roof box? I think the roof box looks a lot cooler.
yeah with the roof box it certainly looks more area dynamic. I did make a custom Blue Shell one from Mario Kart for my other car

Hi so I just got my Subaru Impreza 2023 sport, when I go to subimods, the exhaust isn’t confirmed yet to fit 2023, did u have any problems installing
As far as my researched showed anything that will fit a Subaru Impreza from 2017-2023 will fit the car. I had no issues with my exhaust but I got mine from Nameless, not subimods
2022 came and has almost gone and Russ is spending super high dollars on alot of stuff.... way to go rich man lol
Had some money saved up and I got to put less down on the car than anticipated so it went towards mods.
Figured this is it once the baby comes in a month, so might as well go all out
Always was a fan of the older Mazda rx 7 those s rotary engines mannn you can super those up
We watch a video on Mighty Car Mods where they checked out the Rx7 factory. So cool

o interesting. Unless they switched something from then to now with ordering. He had two models coming in with "Premium features" but they were also different so it might depend on the package. I told him I definitely wanted the sunroof and roof rails

I got the exhaust from Nameless. They have an option with 2 5" mufflers as well incase you do not want it as loud

It is quit loud. It does have a good drone sound in the car as well, so thinking about doing some sound deadening in the trunk area

something to increase power please, for mine, i did the crawford intake spacer(worth it), K&N CAI(NOT worth it), perrin pitch stop mount(worth it). but i still want more power for my slowburu impreza like a small turbo or a small super charger, enough to feel more power, but not enough to blow up the engine. also, my suspension sucks at absorbing dips, I also want suspensions but don't want to invest too much money into the suspensions.
thanks so much for the tips on what mods you think were worth it. So far I have a small list going mostly for handling like a sway bar ,Perrin Differential Lockdown System ,new rear control arm and few other.

I just bought a 2023 Subaru Impreza . I liked some of the modifications, some were useless. Why the muffler? It's a 2L Boxer Engine. It's not a old Hemi that could roar!
Hi Linda thanks for checking the video out. Some of them are more for looks than performance. I put the muffler on because the stock one was too quiet for me, and this added 4 tips out the back so it gave the car a more aggressive look on the back end. I'll be adding a rear diffuser back there as well, so that gives it some fins on the bumper (again adding to the egressive look)
But yes this is the everyday car so I can not go to crazy with the mods, that is for my other car
I suggest that you install the K&N cold air intake.
It's been a year since I had the vehicle and yes I do think there needs to be some new mods on this car.

I installed the K&N cold air intake on my 2017 Subaru Impreza Sport, and it seemed to add more low-end torque. Also, it was easy to install.

I just got a 2017 Impreza premium. It does not have fog lights, sun roof or eyesight.
the Eyesight feature is definitely included in all newer models so maybe that wasn't standard for 2017. I know the body styles are the exact same so all parts will fit from 2017 to 2023. I think that was the focus I was trying to showcase.
I was able to order parts before getting the car because I knew they would fit
I learned the fog lights are wired. I just have to get the lights, relay and switch.

Nope it will not. I kept the old exhaust as well just incase I need to put it back on

I got a 2023 Impreza Premium but mine doesn’t have the Sun Roof 😢
I think I mis spoke in the video. So Mine is a premium but I paid for a upgrade package that included the roof rails and sunroof for like $500
I’ve got a 2021 base hatchback. Got rally armor mud flaps, that same decal, larger 215/65/r16 all terrain tires, and got a 1” lift kit that I haven’t had installed yet. But that kit with the tires will give me an additional 2” of ground clearance. I also have a bumper bar that I’ll put an LED light bar on and add some ditch lights to the hood. Eventually I’ll get a roof rack and, if I can find some cheap, Crosstrek side skirts.
Dude it sounds like you are off to a great start for sure. I thought about getting bumper bar and a LED light bar for that.
I just added a rear bumper diffuser (video coming soon) and I need to install the side skirts I got from the front lip kit still
@@RussLyman I’m looking forward to seeing those side skirts. I couldn’t find any I liked yet so I just plasti-dipped mine. Not sure how much I like it though, but it’s easy to remove. Check out the nilight bar and lights. Really good price for them and very bright.

No Gary but it is broken currently. I brought it to David Apuzzos Dad’s garage. He’s going to work on it the next few months. So I can bring it to events in the spring

Ok I definitely missed informed everyone. Although mine is a premium I did get the "upgrade" so that comes with the sun roof and roof rack. It was already ordered and on the way to the dealership so I thought they all came with it.
On the exhaust, it certainly is loud at the cold start, than tames down some. With it being an automatic you it doesn't get too loud I'd say.
When you hit the highway though it does have some droning sound, so I may sound proof the hatch floor a bit
I had to get rid of my nameless 5”. The drone actually hurt my ears. Put the OEM muffler back after a week. I also upgraded to JL audio speakers and tweeters , so no more loud exhaust while enjoying music. However the exhaust sounds great on the outside
@@codyp96 thx for input, yeah I probably pass on it, got mud flaps, plan to put on gold rally rims for summer, rain deflectors, light with bar on the front and maybe tint a bit i think thats it . If along the way i need more cargo space i go with box on the roof.

How reliable is the impreza you think easy 200k?
Well this is my first Subaru ever so its hard to say. My last car was a toyota (Scion xA) and its at 175k so I'm sure this Impreza can definitely hit 200k
@Russ Lyman yeah I like toyota, but subaru just is much better looking g and much more customizable . You can take an impreza and make it look like sti and slowly build it to be a really dope car. I'm gonna trade in my 2018 Jeep Wrangler with around 50k because it's only getting me 15 mpg, 18 mpg at most on highways... I would rather have an impreza and build it nice to look like a hatch back sti 🤣 😂 make it a everyday beast that will last and get you good mpg

I was really debating it. My other car is standard, but I would have had to wait a few more months to get one that was standard, since the ones that were being shipped over were auto. I was getting this for the new born on the way as a family car, so figured I keep it simple with the auto.

I mean you can go that route with any car if weight is an concern. If I had a crosstrek its a larger car so weighs more and would use more gas. And they don't make a hatch WRX anymore unfortunately so I'd have to get a used one

@@RussLyman Hi. Russ. Did you notice any power increase with the axle back? I have a 2017 Premium with the same engine and no mods but I did feel more power after 1500 miles or so as the engine and driveline loosened up.

So the one I got is a straight pipe from the catalytic converter to the tips, making it louder.
The 5" muffler version would have 2 individual mufflers that are on the pipes before they connect to the pipe that goes to the catalytic converter. This would make the exhaust quieter because of that.
