Our ship will be in port on Christmas Day. That means we have a lot of work to do. Good thing we had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas a little bit earlier by holding our Christmas Party on December 23rd.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I have a few episodes that were supposed to come first before this but due to the holiday season, I had to prioritize finishing this video. In the next few episodes you will notice that there was a "time jump". Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this episode. Again, Merry Christmas to all of you!!!

My battle buddy in basic training was Fillipino. He didn’t move to the US till a young adult. He was an amazing guy.
I have had the pleasure of working with a Filipino crew at Xmas and New Year at sea. They made our celebrations amazing! Such awesome people. Such good memories. God bless
I have a multi-level sense of engagement with this channel: 1/. I used to be a ship's providor and was, on occasions, able to sail aboard several cargo ships. 2/. My Christmas day celebrations were very often deferred in favour of something to do with provisioning items, mostly engineering oriented items, to ships. 3/. These days, one of my work colleagues is Filipina and last Christmas she insisted that I attend at her family's Christmas day celebrations... boy-oh-boy: Maraming pagkain sa la mesa! (Lots of food on the table!) 4/. I have previously had a fair bit of involvement with film production. 5/. I now work for a Motorcycle dealership and we have a number of male staff members who are from the Philippines, they're mechanics. I resonate well with them because I am extremely mechanically minded, plus the overall Filipino culture is, I find, enchanting and substantially captivating. Ingat lagi Chief.

Filipino food is my favorite. I was fortunate to meet a lot of Filipino cooks while in the Navy. Love me some chicken adobo all day.
To get to know someone, an hour of playing is better than a day of working together.
I spent two deployments away from home during Christmas while I was in the US Navy. It was a sad time but I always kept my head in the game while at sea.

Drinkin San Miguel beer. I tried one of those once when the U S Navy ship I was on stopped at Olongapo City, Phillipines in 2001. It may have been more than one, honestly. They were so cheap! That was better than some of the Christmas parties I’ve been to.
My parish (in the Bronx, NYC) has a LARGE Filipino community within and the holiday masses are INCREDIBLE to say the least. The wonderful people, beautiful singing, reception with delicious food afterwards & etc. Sometimes I stay after a regular English mass just to partake even though I cannot understand Tagalog. But the mass is the mass and you know more or less what is going on regardless as to the language. Comet time for the homily, the Filipino priest would even repeat his statements in English, well aware as to the large amount of non Filipinos in attendance. This is especially true come a few weeks prior to Christmas with a series of jubilant masses they hold around that time. Thanks very much for sharing Chief, wonderful as always.

The next year that you guys roast a whole pig, see if the chef can get a bunch of fresh coconut water to baste the pig in while you all are taking turns roasting it over the fire. That coconut water as a whole new dynamic to the flavor of the scan and an extra crunchiness that is unparalleled DON'T FORGET THE TANDUAY!!!!

I missed four Christmas times in my life. I mean totally missed. I missed several Eve's and Day's but, not both together, due to my shift work in a metropolitan fire & rescue department. At the station I would cook up a big feast and all the surrounding stations would come in and take some back for their dinners. Before I was promoted into management I used to be a firehouse cook. Real men know how to cook! Nine kids with a stay at home wife, one income: you bet I can cook, from scratch! To include wild game and fish (I had a small farm for a time, as well). Christmas is good. Merry Christmas!

Most are Catholic but a few are from other Christian sects. The Captain and I try to make the working environment as harmonious as we can. Morale is very important for this job. 😀
Chief MAKOi ... I am an Ex US Navy engineering officer, when the Moral is poor on your ship, the safety and efficiency suffer greatly. Working conditions and daily ship operations can become hazardous to all-personal. A well trained crew with a good moral equals a safe and cost-effective cruise.

I really like the way you present your videos. They are very peaceful. Good thing is that you speak in English. I watched a few others , but they speak in their native language and sadly I have to stop watching them .
Christimas is a difficult sittuation when you are on board but like you said you have to be creative and enjoy the free time.

Merry Christmas Chief I remember when I was in the navy and away for Christmas and this bring back memories. I must admit that your dinner looks like a feast. Was the pig stuffed with veggies? I am glad to see everyone was having fun you have a great crew. Maybe I should say you make them a great crew it is easy to work under a good leader and that is what you seem to be. I used to live with a Filipino family for 2 years, and I kinda love that roast pork. It’s different than the roast pork in Vietnam and China. It’s such a great experience and memory. ☺️☺️
