@@7_dropademon i suggest you to go and buy the jim root instruction video by fret12 or watch some live videos and then you'll see that jim is harmonise the intro of the song. Until then, SHUT UP ALL OF YOU!!!!
I've never really understood why people are surprised that sticking ridiculously powerful active EMG pickups in a telecaster sounds heavy, the body shape isn't going to turn everything into country
He didn't forget shit, just had to get a feel for pinch harmonics with that terrible tone. Plus the bit at the end was from another part of the masterclass
LOL, he actually probably forgot, and quickly refreshed his memory. Yes the feel for 'pinch harmonics, but at that level its second nature, so no excuses there. AND the tone was made by him before that do the shoot, all artists dial in their settings on the set amp before a shoot. That is basically the tone that gets recorded, except with more bottom end and a meatier range of frequencies that are required to mix with drums. So that is actually about the tone he plays with,
I wouldn't say that's him forgetting. Pinch harmonics can sound cool but they can really be hit or miss. If you want the exact same sound every time you attempt to do the same pinch harmonic, you have to find where exactly you played it before, also, your guitar and the effects, amp, and cab can also greatly affect the sound and positioning of the pinch harmonic.
His reaction instantly made me smile, as it was real - I can imagine the pressure to play something perfect while being filmed 1 on 1 must be worse than the pressure of playing live in a band.. idk but I can imagine that
At the beginning, you can hear a quiet "go". Some say it was merely a person behind the cameras. I say it was Corey's muffled "go" from Before I Forget reaching forward from the darkest recesses of Jim's mind.
We need to see more videos like this, it makes us players realise that even band members make mistakes and struggle sometimes. It shows us they are human like everyone else.
@@brodyschriefer7243 I know man I was just joking around. Telecasters have a really cool sound. But it used to be associated more with a twangy country style. I like the crossover
I mean it's not like he's playing an ordinary Telecaster. He's got EMG 81s in there, you could basically put those inside of a hollowbody from the 1920s and it would sound moderately heavy
He's allowed to forget. With all the Slipknot, Stone Sour and songs he just likes to play it's a lot to remember. I used to know a couple hundred songs. I'm lucky if I remember 50 of them. Look at bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, they're always having to relearn their own songs. Hence why they usually play them differently because they pretty much tab their own songs by ear.
i like the james root guitar playing because he is more of freedom playing just at live show he don`t bother to torcher himself to play every solo exactly the same as the album but he play from where he feels right.
To be fair most musicians are like this from what I've seen. Especially the ones who have as many songs as Jim does to remember. Ive seen videos where they come up with the set list and have to relearn the songs because they haven't played them in years
Composing a song that way might work if you're in a rock band. The most out of the box way to possibly compose is to compose melodies in your head. Learn music theory and notation and then notate the score. You'll come up with lots more interesting things than you would just improvising. Because improvising usually leads to going by patterns you're already comfortable with. Writing your ideas out as sheet music is a much more organized and reliable way of composing.
I like the band thing on his picking hand. I want one, I'd think it help me alot from losing grip of the pick during songs. I wonder where I could find one.
That's not completely true... I have his $1200 flat white fender telecaster and it has an ebony fretboard. When this one has a maple one like his black model...
ppl are like heavy telecaster blah blah blah, a guitar is a empty shell you can make it sound the way you just like zakk wylde makes acoustic sound for example

actually jim roots olnly uses fender guitars as far as i know

This is BS. True for a beginner, not true at all for any experienced guitar player. The nodes on the string don't move.
