So would you know anything about whether the 3100 Chromebook which is offered by Xfinity Internet essentials through Dell is the SIM card version? Or would you know if the 3100 version itself has any durability and resistance to water and drop like the 3120 latitude supposedly has? Thank you.

Those ASUS hinges may look like they go all the way across but they do not, it's just a cover. The hinge snapped on mine and you can pull that nice long hinge looking piece right off, it doesn't support anything, it's just a U shaped channel.

I had this for 2 years. If it could download word i would prefer this to windows and macbooks air. i still prefer to windows laptop because its much faster and lightweight . i prefer this to the macbook air because its much cheaper and much sturdier (i spilled water on this and its finr) PS. I have 2 windows laptop and this chromebook previously had macbook air that broke when i spilled water on it

@@suhijo Install GalliumOS, which is an Ubuntu Linux variant made specifically for chromebooks. It runs great, but the storage space (only 16GB) might be an issue for some.
It's so sad that there no more software updates. How we supposed save the environment if i have to throw away a perfectly working device and get new one so i can get few more years of software update. I was really hoping they continue to support this device since it's ment for education. There are places in the world can use this after the US schools. Finish with these Chromebooks. They can't afford buying new tech so they use our used or retired tech.

Are you familiar with Linux? You can install GalliumOS on this, which is kind of an subunit Linux variant OS. This can run many Linux software including almost any code editor or IDE. You have to unlock the computer (it can’t be a school laptop from a public school for example. If it is, and you’ve already graduated you can contact the school to unlock the laptop or remove it from their supervision). You have to set the chrome book to developer mod and look online for “Dell chromebook 11 3120 GalliumOS” installation. This will erase everything on the laptop and install a fresh Linux OS on it. I installed it a week ago and it works amazing.

Perhaps the worst screen view angle of all cheaper Chromebooks. No Google Play so no Android Apps on this one. The touchpad will get faulty at some point : you won't be able to press it down with one finger and drag windows with a second finger. Speakers sound muffled. Charger has a thick cumbersome cable with big plug on the side - difficult to keep it on your lap. Screen opens 180deg. Keyboard is splash proof. Good battery
