I was thinking that if I treated my parents well every single day and visited often, then they wouldn't object if I told them that I won't come for Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, mother's day, etc. I have to get better.

I mean I wouldn't discourage the guy that much. Not that much of a big deal if he wants to take her out on that day. We got Muslim kids starving to death and being bombed and were worried about these petty things.
