    My final assessment on the Kingstons.
    The best for high pressure is the 1.6 GPF Kingston.
    The best for low pressure is the 3.5 GPF Kingston.
    Nice video.

    I think most people don't like them because they're more common over older fixtures but it's honestly not a bad replacement

    I really like these toilets as much as the older and newer ones. I actually think they look better than the waterguards from a side view in a larger stall.
    I can understand how more advanced simulation might help these or any toilet not to shred and leave paper hovering behind the jet. That happens because the jet creates what's known as a "Venturi" effect. The high pressure stream from the jet crates vacuum in the area around the jet, which means the bowl contents get sucked into that vacuum area and blown up the trap into the jet path . That's the theory but what probably happed here is that in the cruder designing, a dead spot occurs around the jet right below the roof of the trapway. it's a spot where the water just doesn't flush through like it should, like a circling eddy current in a river and that's why the paper just hovers there until it settles to a different spot between the flushes. That's probably the kind of thing that a more advanced simulation would catch nowadays in the design phase.

      And a lot of older 3.5 GPF siphonic toilets got away with Venturi affects as the powerful bowl rinse in many cases is enough to push the toilet paper out into the path of the jet. There are many modern toilets that use bowl rinse to aid well in flushing stuff down.

  • @OCC_Plumbing_and_Restorations

    So what I'm getting from this is that the 2000s Kingston is very difficult to actually clog, but they have major problems with bowl rinse and shredding paper. Overall, not something I would ever install but they would work in a commercial setting such as the restroom in a stadium where one surge of people uses them all at once and there is frequent cleaning after every show. Another good place for them would be a school where people may intentionally try to clog them. Great video.

    I do really like these a lot, the sound of the start of the flush is very recognizable and the flush isn't awful I just think it would have made a better 3.5 then the normal 1.6. If I had to install one I totally would but I would rather the newer 1.28 kingstons only because the bowl rinse is so much better.

      @KDMCPlumbing  Před rokem +3

      Yeah these would have been much better on 3.5. Im just not a fan of the 1.28 Kingston so I’d still probably install one of these

    Either my school did not have high water pressure or this toilet was a peice of crap. Someone put in 40 feet of TP and it started making grinding noises and was clogged. Can you try this again but with a very tight ball of TP (like wrapping it around into a ball multiple times)?

    I have a question/request since I know you do a lot of the modeling for the Mini Toilet Shop. Id love if yall could offer 3D print bolt caps for Eljer triangle base toilets like the Emblem/Ellis. I would definitely buy a blue set for my newly obtained Ellis. That would be awesome!

    • @KDMCPlumbing
      @KDMCPlumbing  Před rokem +1

      That’s a great idea! I’ve considered it in the past but I didn’t know if anyone would really want them. I’ll have to dig through my random toilet parts bin and find the caps for my Ellis or Emblem when I get a chance

      @@TheVintageNoob Yeah a lot of these don’t seem to have enough pressure to flush great. Like I said in the video, I think if they had access to the more advanced design software they have now, Kohler could have fixed that issue and the shredding issue. I get why people don’t like them but I think despite their flaws, they are still pretty good. As for the Auburns, idk. I think they just have a good design and a cool flush. I’ve never tested one but I hope to some day
