    I like my halloween cookies like I like my chocolate: dark and delicious!!! Dark chocolate cookie outside and cherry cookie inside. The cherry is very subtle but it's the spooky vibes that count!!!

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 3 lety +14

      My apologies. I remember making those subs but I must have lost them somewhere along the way. They are 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
      3/4 tsp baking soda
      1/2 tsp salt

    For the Cherry juice, what brand did you use? Or did you get a jar of cherries and use the juice from that?

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 2 lety

      Whoops! Missed your comment... I bought juice. There's usually a section in grocery stores in the shelf stable juice isle with 100% fruit juice. At least in midwest America there is. But I'm looking to revamp this recipe since a few ppl have mentioned issues with getting the cracked look so stay tuned!!

    Hey really nice video, Can you please share what mode do you use for the baking? I mean: top, top bottom, convection? Thanks :D

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 3 lety

      I moved my rack to the middle and baked it there but I would do top rack if I didn’t want to go through the effort. And I don’t have a convection oven so just regular baking.

    I’ve made this recipe twice, one time with no black food coloring and too big of chocolate chunks. The second time I made them it was pretty successful but i encountered a few problems. I followed the recipe to the tee and didn’t change a single thing :/ My cookies spread very little. Not even a milimeter. The amount of dough I had was very little compared to the dough seen in the video. Did you double the batch? The cracks were less defined and more so because I couldn’t fit completely the black dough around the red. my amount of dough ratio was super far off. I had wayyy more red than black both times I made it. Overall fun experience but if you have any tips to make mine better? Any help is appreciated!

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 3 lety +10

      Interesting... I've honestly never run across these issues but let's break it down and cover some common problems to see what we can do!
      1.First, did you follow the video or the written recipe? There is a point in the video where the subtitles got lost as I added rising agents...
      2. That wouldn't account for the difference in dough volumes though. I didn't double the batch. You should have about 3 cups of dough for each color. Are they both the same texture? Like is one a wet dough and the other dry? That might help me pinpoint the issue... I will say that the black dough does have to be flattened quite a bit to fit around the red but it should definitely be possible and you should have pretty equal amounts of each.
      3. Does the dough feel oily or just wet? Usually when cookies don't spread it is due to too much flour and not enough oil.
      4. How long did you chill your cookies before baking? If they get too cold they will spend their whole bake time warming up and won't have time to spread. You might try chilling for a shorter period or chilling in the fridge instead of the freezer so that the oil in them will be warmer and promote spreading.
      5. You could also check your baking powder. If you have old baking powder that could account for a lack of rising or spreading.
      6. What texture are your baked cookies? are they gooey, crumbly, or just bricks?
      7. Finally, double check your oven temperature. Sometimes ovens aren't really the temperature they say they are.
      That's all I can think to check at the moment... let me know if any of these suggestions sound like they could be your problem.

    These look fun! My daughter is allergic to seeds and nuts though... so unfortunately coconut products are out... what is an alternative? Most substitutes I see for coconut oil are all seed/nut products.

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 3 lety +3

      Any type of oil should work. I use coconut because it tends to be a bit better for health and solidifies when cold. If you aren’t vegan, you can use melted butter as a replacement or just regular vegetable oil.

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 3 lety +2

      Wilton’s gel color. It took A LOT to get the colors that rich. I’m sure there are more potent dyes out there somewhere but I honestly just used a heavy hand when adding the color.

    • @thesexyraddish950
      @thesexyraddish950  Před 3 lety +2

      You could replace the coconut oil with any other type of neutral oil but I’m not sure if using an alternative milk in its place would go well. You can swap the water for soja milk if you like.
