In the past I've wondered why I've filled journal after journal over the years. Then I learned that we INFJs have a great need to express ourselves. Evidently, writing is one of our choice ways of doing that.

Always been drawn to writing, it was a solace when I journaled in my teens, pouring out my questions, anguish in my journal when no one understood me, I have written many stories, poems, scripts, 2 novels are published. And I love that, when I get into that zone, time evaporates when I write.
This is so true about me! I love words ...writing and reading. As a child I would draw and write little fictional stories. I even tried to write a family “newspaper “. LOL In high school I took a career test and scored highest in “literary”. As an adult I was a devoted letter writer to family and friends. I’ve always felt I wanted to do more, but didn’t know how. You are the answer to my prayers. I signed up for your free course cause I was having trouble being sure of whether I could make it as a writer. Being an INFJ and usually seeing the big picture as compared to writers who are able to be so detailed, your video gave me hope since you have described exactly my love for words, helping others and leaving a legacy. I must say, when I read comments on the INFJ videos, they have an abundance of information and feelings interconnected with it, unlike other CZcams channels. It's kind of funny when comparing, but you will definitely see the difference, because on some CZcams channels, people write basic things, such as thank you, beautiful, so on and so forth, but when you come to these INFJ channels, you will see depth.
Not sure if I'm an INFJ or INTJ, but I've always had a talent for writing music and movie reviews (though I've never made money doing it). The research thing is very true, I spend a LOT of time on CZcams and Wikipedia. I'm a stickler for details and strive for perfection when it comes to editing. I also tend to stay away from "jumping on bandwagons." I'm not afraid to stick my neck out and speak from my own perspective. Sometimes I can be very direct and intense about my opinions and can alienate myself from others, but that doesn't bother me. I'd rather stay true to my own intuition and judgment. We are indeed the rarest types!
I honestly think they need to come up with a new personality trait called INFTJ. Because most of the time the INFJ feels first, and then thinks about what they are feeling. I find as an INFJ, I use the words (I think) and (I believe) interchangeably, sometimes it is, (I believe used first), and other times it is (I think used first). I don't think an INTJ could be an INFJ, but I think an INFJ can be both.

I appreciate your Insights. I wanted to be a writer or learn something (from a book or a small group) as a child. I needed as a writer to "get out" to research or knowledge that I needed to find my "tribe". I think I came out of the womb as an advocate-care giver. Which also can get an introvert to "escape" into a story or reading. I don't like a lot of distraction. I leave the TV off and even music. Then I decide to watch a movie and listen to music and I let my mind switch gears. Otherwise, sound and other movement frustrate and tire me. I have to have downtime. I do like thinking outside the box and be part of a group of problem solvers or creatives, writers.
The flowstate... I've heard of it but this is the first time I learned what it means. I get that flowstate often when I'm writing, and usually when I'm writing something, I hate getting disturbed or being asked questions cause it kind of stops the flow state. When ideas pop up in my head, I would write them down, doesn't matter if it's all over the place as long as I write everything down.
Wow. This may explain why I love words and language. And I love playing with them and alternatives. Using the word 'sensitive' leads to 'cinnamon' just because I love how they both buzz alike. Lol.
Do you come across INFJs who don't have this love of words and writing? I fit INFJ to a very high degree but not this aspect. Also, my love of research didn't take hold until my mid 40s, I feel like I've stepped into my INFJ ness later in life - is this common? I heard Personality Hacker say there are INFJ late bloomers but I will soon question if I'm an INFJ if I don't fit the description fully. Thanks.
Absolutely! Not every INFJ loves to write. It's just a common trait. INFJ creativity and thought manifests itself in many ways, so no worries if you feel as if you're not a writer. And Personality Hacker is on to something. Many INFJs are late bloomers.
