Ramji Narayanaswami Iyer (Madhavan) a poor Palghat Brahmin cook, agrees to become the cook for a Tamil family in Australia in order to meet the demands of his sister's husband's family. But he is left for himself when the man who hires him unexpectedly, leaving him with no place to go. After losing his belongings including his passport, he is taken by a Tamil couple Badri (Sriman) and Amloo (Anu Hasan), who hire him as a cook for their eatery. Based on an idea of their Friend Ivan, the couple asks Ramji to marry Damayanthi (Geetu) an Australian citizen so that he can become a citizen too. The rest of the storyline is all about Ramji's plight, his dilemma and how he overcomes them.

Cinema is a different world. Actually Madurai is portrayed as one of the headquarters for Tamil dons in Tamil movies but in reality Madurai is one of the cities with descent people. Similar to that Tamil slang portrayed in this movie are fantasies. Don't take it seriously. Tamil cinema is suffering from exaggeration disease. Enjoy the movie and leave the rest aside. However I have met few Srilankan Tamil people in Germany and their slang is similar to what is portrayed in this movie.

The Srilankan slang in this movie is actually quite accurate. It's just that they went over the board with the Palakkad dialect for comedic purposes.
