I remember first hearing the album version the day I bought the album, the day it came out. The first R.E.M. album that I bought, as a fan, as soon as it came out. It actually blew me away. And I remember my Dad hearing it and loving it and loving it, too. ❤
his voice is just so good, loved this band since the 80s and this song is just haunting truly beautiful
T
Bring it on! 25th anniversary of my favorite REM album.
One of my favorite R.E.M. songs, Murmur being my first CD s an 8 year old, first concert Green Tour… (I got the inside out shirt)
Michael Stipe always sings from the heart and the words just flow softly out from his soul….
The original of this song is one of my favorites in their catalogue. Somehow, I didn't know this version existed until now.
One terrible thing to say about REM no housework being done, no cooking, just all day long on CZcams watching everything they’ve ever done. Just absolutely superb. Live them , live youtube xxx
Me too!
IT'S REALLY AMAZING ,,HIS VOICE ,,I LOVE THIS BAND ,REGUARDS. FROM COLOMBIA
Underrated album, underrated song!
Top top album
@@StratsRUs every track on it is a masterpiece
Well, certainly this album was not as big as "Out of time" or "Automatic for the people" but still, it did quite well in sales and in charts, I checked... and millions of people love this album... R.e.m. is a huge band who made millions and millions of dollars... and I don't think "underrated" can apply to anything r.e.m.... If you want to call something "underrated" go find a great album that sold only a few hundred copies... there's lots and lots of stuff like that
@@Eluwilussit it is generally cited among fans and critics alike an underrated album as far as REM go! as it didn’t sell as well but did chart here in the uk at number 1 also the singles from the album didn’t chart or sell well but over all most agree the album is one of their best, just take one of 12 online topics on this being underrated I’ve found online in the last 20 minutes -
R.E.M. released their most underrated album. New Adventures In Hi-Fi came out in what was a slightly transitional period for R.E.M. They had achieved ‘biggest band in the world’ status with Out Of Time and Automatic For The People, the latter still regarded by many (myself included) as their absolute masterpiece (or one of them, at least). Commercially they were at the top of their game, selling millions of copies of each without even touring either album (apart from a few acoustic shows for Out Of Time, usually under the name Bingo Hand Job), critically, they were untouchable, with both albums being lauded as defining albums of the era.
This is my favorite track on NAIHF. If the original version was 90 seconds shorter I have to believe it would be a classic R.E.M. song
R.E.M. banda fantástica.
🙌✌👏👏👏👏
25 years? Oh, holy... It seems like it was just yesterday.
What a brilliant voice with the an amazing words ...rem❤❤
I bought this album on a trip to some friends in Copenhagen 1996.
I'm 32 years old and I'm still wishing that when I grow up, I can be like Michael Stipe.
Same!
I heard this awesome song by Pavement about how great rem is.
Then I discovered Murmur and Reckoning.
Then I realized at 30, that I need to be more like Michael stipe.
@@ml8443 The unseen power of the picket fence great crash course
Same and I’m 152
Stipe, Cobain and Yorke were my guiding lights
Michael Stipe; feeds the mind and massages the soul... effortlessly!
Que hermosa versión para esta genial canción ,de una de las mejores bandas de todos los tiempos.
Vastly underrated album.....the moments when you get the goosebumps are what your journey is for. Miss R.E.M. so much.
Stunning version of "Leave"
Where did the years go?
Really lovely, this is the best version, just a fantastic voice
Yes!!! As if he's talking directly to One-ness, his voice a true gift😪miss him
Nothing can be better than the voice of the Archangel Michael Stipe!! I have the original double vinyl that I got when it came out. Was 25 years so long ago? Wow! It starts at $160 and goes for over $400 for a sealed copy only on Discogs. Glad I got mean early
WOW! This is amazing. 🔥
Come back. The World needs you. Amazing song.
Such a great remake rem!!! Always loved this version the best!!!!💜💜💜
Beautiful ❤️
Amazing!
Fantastic!
Beautiful
Thank you so much!
Can't wait to see/hear what they do for the 25th anniversary edition of NAIHF.
The Monster one was pretty good, some good remixes on there
I hope they do the same thing that they did with the Monster Anniversary, and have Adam Scott do an album breakdown/interview. I thought I was a big R.E.M. fan, but that guy... he's on another level. Lol

Bit of a shame that as I’ve heard most of those as I had the singles. The only relatively new ones to me are the last 4 tracks. The Leave alternate version is brilliant
@@signalmanmusic4225 the alternative version of leave isn't new either, but it doesn't make it any less special being on the 25th anniversary.
What a fantastic voice
Sounds great, aaah.
Amazing!!💗💕💖🤩
This version is so much better than the original one!
Nice. Right on time.
Art
This is great
That’s what keeps me down 😢
I've waited for the calling!
Goosebumps!
I bought the soundtrack to ‘a live less ordinary’ mainly for this alternate version
*life ffs 🤦🏻♂️
You just reminded me of that movie which I havent seen in over 10 years. I had no clue it had R.E.M. on the soundtrack. That is fantastic. I remember loving that movie!
Excelente!!!!
New Adventures in Wi Fi
Hermoso!!! 💜💜
This song is Perfection.
Exploring Busan, South Korea while listening to this brilliant narration in 2008.
"I suffer the dreams of a world gone mad. I like it like that and I know it. I know it well, ugly and sweet. I temper madness with an even extreme."
One of the best albums in last 25 years. Definitely Rem's best and that's saying a lot. Congrats gentleman.
もうほんとのほんとに復活して欲しい。
Oh my. 💚🔥
Brilliant version, though we've heard it before, now this is also on spotify, we all need to keep streaming it, we can get this in the charts, it deserves it.
Meu 🧠🎼 não resistiu a está onda vibracional 😉🌵🌵

Grande voce favoloso
Saludos cordiales desde Honduras crack 🙏🙏🙏
Haunted carnival vibe.
It was on the life less ordinary ost
You win the prize, Ben. I'm proud of you

Beautiful...💚💜💙💛❤
This is cool, totally new take on an old song. Not just some minor edit.
this remix was for the film A Life Less Ordinary, which actually featured both the remix and original, from 1997.
Leave it all behind...
I hope there will be an Dolby Atmos mix of NAIHF 25th anny edition
Love it. 🤘 #rem #remhq #newadventures25 #berrybuckmillsstipe #leave #alternateversion #anniversary
Well fuck. The sleeper of the album just got hardcore.
This alternate version isn't new...it was released on the In Time - The Best of REM package.
I agree 100%. Love this version.
LOL. It's boring and depressing.
It's all good.
@@driver8M3 and it originally came out 6 years before that, on the Life Les ordinary soundtrack.
King of comedy is on there.
Let go
Holy shit this is amazing
🖤🕳
Fantastic! Will all the album tracks be reworked for the 25th Anniversary release?
I always liked this version better than the albums version. A moving track.
There was an alternate version of Leave for a movie soundtrack that’s very similar to this version.
@@schnu44 it's the same remix from A Life Less Ordinary, which actually featured both the remix and original.
For me, this is the better version
Never heard his songs before lost my son he's with God everybody hurts means a lot to me
i had to respond even though i don't know how to articulate the words. my condolences for your aching loss. Everybody Hurts speaks to so many of us that tend to feel loss, pain, sorrow, withdrawal and isolation. hang on.
@@anomalees thank you
Beautiful alternate version, though I still prefer the original
💙💙💙🌹💜💜💜
This is very beautiful but I do prefer the powerful album version.
theis versione would have fitted on up
Their best 90s release?
I think so.High bar they set themselves though.
well that's subjective Silky... Micheal was saying for a long time that this is his favorite R.e.m. album and now he shifted to Reveal as his favorite
@@antiantagonist947 no no, automatic being the best album is also subjective... it's not the favorite of Stipe for example
Heard this one before?
Michael amorcito mío😍💗💗💗
Interesting, but i do miss who WOOWOOWOOWOOWOO off the original.
Brasil
I don't remember subscribing to this
If someone ever says the music today is anywhere near how good the 90's music is, well, that just shows how disconnected we are as a people today, let alone the youth...the music today is COMPLETE TRASH, awful and soulless...I feel for the kids today who didn't get Tobe influenced by such wonderful artists like this...
The 80s were better but I agree with this
12th
Album version is much better. That background sound is what i like most personally.
its intense but so is this version
They cld probably do 10 versions. I'd like them all.
Like children you can love two entirely different versions of a song. Personally, i love the album version but it could have been 90 seconds shorter
/almost as good as the original
The album would have been an all time recording if they ditched the sirens off the Leave track...
Eh?
I quite like the sirens on the original track of Leave.Though I remember reading a review at the time in Loaded magazine that said something like ' Leave sounds like 2 women arguing over a backgarden fence whilst a car alarm goes off in the background." I don't agree but it makes me laugh 25 years after I read it :-) 25 years?! Where does the time go...
@@Trust1878 sounds like Loaded
I LOVE the sirens.
The album is fantastic. But still, 25 years later, I still think Binky The Doormat is one of their poorest songs.Underlined
Great album but an over priced remastered edition 2cd set for £25, whilst Radiohead's Kid A mnesia is £17 for 3 CDs.
None of the power and rawness from the original version is carried into this one. Just feels dreary.
I think you mean dreamy rather than “dreary”. It definitely feels like a dream of sorts
Still I don't remember subscribing
you were drunk
A bit depressing.
A beautiful depression
Not really.It's dreamsleep realities.
No.
Makes it sound like he's singing out of key
Yikes. I do not like. The guitar is what elevates this song.
You yikes on R.E.M, i yikes on you. And my Yikes are better :P
I thought "how about never" meant quitting for good. All these rehashes, milking cash out of a dwindling fan base, its not quite right.
REM said they would never perform again, the constant drip feed of these songs goes against the grain. Whats the point? It can only be for the money, which none of the band need. So who is behind this nonsense? Is it Bertis and his %?
Its making REM look like blood sucking leaches, or worse, ego maniacs who cant quite let go.
Either bury the hatchet and get back together, or LEAVE us alone.
Crap
