Defined Autoworks 4-rotor race car running Mid ohio during a open track day. Low Power Setting for ST1/TT1 class rules (420 rear wheel horsepower) 1:33 seconds club course lap.
Wow! Nice to see it in action again. It seems you are well-accustomed to the car by now? You know, people are still longing for a full-power, high-rev long straight flyby shot, Logan! Haha. ;-)
NLRevZ yeah I'm becoming a better driver each time out. 1.5 secs away from the class lap record. High power setup video is difficult because there is not class that allows it. Except super unlimited.
You should really close off a street or go somewhere more private to pull it off, for the justice that is a 4-rotor engine screaming its guts out as it flies by! It would be the single most amazing recording of a rotary-engined car bar only (maybe) the 787B's rare recordings along the straight at Le Mans itself. (By the way, how much power -can- it put out if you were to go full blast and at what kind of engine speeds would we be talking about?)
You could build a LS, coyote, 2jz, 1jz, and an rb30 @ 600hp for the same money. 5 600hp engines that don't need rebuilds every 10k miles, and are streetable, or one 500hp peaky rotary that is undriveable on the road, and needs rebuilds. It's 100% not a good deal, but it's obviously crazy cool.
Very nice car! This makes a great track car, but for me it's too radical for the street. If I were King of Mazda I would have built the FD with a 3-Rotor naturally aspirated engine. A 4 rotor might be better, but I think that would put this car into supercar pricing category. I love my mostly stock FD (original owner here), but I'm not a big fan of turbo charging because of the complexity, heat and turbo lag. There really isn't much turbo lag with sequential turbos, but it still has an edge that might catch you out when exiting a corner. I would prefer a mostly stock car with all of the accessories and be able to use it as an everyday driver if I wanted. There's no way I would drive it everyday, but it would be a nice option. Back in the old days, my father drove his first get RX-7 everyday and I used to see a lot of second generations on the road. The FD? You rarely saw them when new. I might see one or two per year at most. --Zoom-Zoom!!
I know! I actually have bought a bunch of expensive sound equipment to try and get a recording of it. So far that exhaust note just kills about everything in Decibels, but I should have it nailed for the next video.
Would be awesome to see this car turn laps at Nürburgring.
Been thinking about doing a similar build. You should upload more track day videos
That was some really great driving! If I'm not mistaken, 1:33 is pretty fast for the chicane course. I love Mid-ohio also, so good track choice too.
They can shoot me dead after driving this fantastic piece of machinery.
Im happy to see the car out running hard. It was nice to see the car in person at the last NASA day.
Thanks, I want to hit even more events next year. This past summer was a blast.
Awesome car man. Sounds badass!

NLRevZ Working on that exact footage :) unrestricted at just over 10,000 rpm 630-645 Rear wheel horsepower.
looked up the costs to build one.....dreams crushed lmao
kcracing 1 what was the result of your research?
30K without options, Up to 65K With all options. Engine only
Considering the price:performance its around what you'd pay for sport -> low end super car power figures. Seemed reasonable to me.

Yeah, the cost of building one of these rx7 is a dram crusher to lots of people, even a clean stock one is at least 20 grand.
laid waste to a Porsche and a corvette - love it!

shame about that in car audio, but awesome build regardless.
Holy crap, it was catching up to the vetee in the turn.
Is this the same. Rotary build featured in your previous build video?
🙌 love it Logan!!! When was this from?
Tyler Nelson one of the Porsche club track days at mid ohio. Can't remember the date
It was doing 1.7G in corners?
Piotr Drozdowski , yes sir. Has logged 1.8 Gs actually.
@@GTORx7 damn that's excellent. Looking forward to seeing better Aero in the future
@@dmcharlestt4945 check out my newest video to see the new body aero setup. Its been hitting 1.8 - 2.0 G's
Great video. Thanks a lot.
wish I had the cash for a 4 rotor!!😟😢
What about Pikes Peak?
this thing sounds like a 787b
completely love it! But please, now invest in a good mic! hahahahaha Then we will listen better our wet dreams car ;))

There is no so many videos of a 4 rotor good recorded on youtube, it would be nice if yours is among them. Waiting for your next video then :D
Better than a Lambo or Ferrari bar none
eats up street cars
Race cars too :)
