  • The Alphlexo Crab has earned its' place in any self-respecting Permit anglers box. Inspired by the Orvis Crab and honed on the flats of the Seychelles, Umpqua Signature Fly Designer Alec Gerbec designed and tested the Alphlexo on the wily permit and triggerfish of the flats of the Indian Ocean. The Alphlexo sinks fast and flat out catches fish, no matter the fishery. Just ask Tucker - the Alphlexo was responsible for breaking his multi-year permit curse in Cuba.
Don't forget - We've got healthy helpings of Alec Gerbec coming our way and we're pretty excited about it. We're extremely lucky to have access to an angler and fly designer with years of industry-leading saltwater experience here on the Front Range. If you're looking to plan your next saltwater trip, don't miss his presentation here at the shop on Thursday on Tides. If you want to learn how to tie the Alphlexo and a couple of other salty patterns, Alec will be hosting a Fly Tying Class on February 6th here in the Denver shop. Details on both upcoming in-store events can be found below.

Thanks for the tip to wrap the tying thread around your finger when tying off the thread at the head. It makes tying this epic fly so much easier. Tight lines

Thank you; I've watched several similar versions but none as precise, detailed and well thought out and so simply explained.

Great video. I cannot seem to find the Gamakatsu SL12S in anything smaller than a size 2 hook. Do you know if they make 4 and 6? Or if there is an equivalent hook from another manufacturer?

Nicely done; it looks like a crab, unlike some that have to be labeled as such!

How do you make fish want to eat it? I have a tidal area where most of the fishermen are using live blue crabs. Curious how to entice Tatung.
