Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of former Southampton chief Jason Wilcox as the club's new technical director with immediate effect.
Wilcox will work with all technical areas of the football department to "achieve the highest standards of performance", the Old Trafford club said in a statement.
Southampton also released a statement to confirm they have "reluctantly" allowed Wilcox to join United after reaching an agreement on an "acceptable compensation fee".

WELCOME TO MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB JASON WILCOX
Going from 300,000£ a year to 3 million+ is a no-brainer. I wish to do the same sometime in my life.
Nah you won’t do it, don’t dream but be content with what you’ve got. You’ll feel more fulfilled. Your welcome
@@CEO786 omg man thank you so much this just turned my whole life around, sohuld have heard this before 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very good player back in the day I always thought. He really should have got more caps for England considering the lack of decent options to play on the left wing for England during his career.
Great move for us, now let's work on Dan Ashworth deal and be done soon
Ineos seems to appoint all the right people so far
Welcome to Manchester United.. I wish you well
"Reluctantly" sounds stressful for Southampton 😩🤣
They've also appointed Maureen Jones as the Head Tea Leady at Old Trafford.
Great move for United
Welcome to Manchester United man ☺️☺️🏟️🌍🌍🔥
5 places up for grabs for cl and your not even close 😂😂😂😂
@@Danzo2024 The fear is amusing.

Big big move for united 👆🏽🛑
You seem well versed, what can he bring to United?

Hopefully he will coax more out of the players.

Hope he directs the deadwood out this summer…let’s start with Rashford.

Welcome to Manchester theater of dreams
The new ownership will get rid of Hag out of the club.
Southgate is the final piece of the Manchester rebuild masterpiece

Oh yea

The appointment with immediate effect means that Newcastle can no longer demand unreasonable 20m for Ashworth.
As Wilcox can act as interim Sporting Director having been in the position at Southampton and there is already working chemisty with incoming CEO Omar Berrada having worked together at Man City.
If Newcastle continue to play hardball over fees, it's them (and Ashworth) who will stand with everything to lose. No compensation, continue paying Ashworth on gardening leave and cannot appoint new Sporting Director as, technically, Ashworth still in the hotseat. It would deem unprofessional for anyone to step into his shoes right now.
Getting a 1000% pay raise, no wonder Wilcox wanted to leave
Southampton bring in steve bruce
If that man oversaw the change in Southampton's footballing direction with the managerial appointment and the current style they employ, either ten hag dumps this transition nonsense, finds his Ajax mojo and conforms, or he leaves. I don't buy for one bit that what he's apparently trying to portray meshes with the history of that club
You mean bringing young players through and trying to play attacking football doesn't aline with the club? 😂 Go back and see how bad Alex Ferguson was in his first few years at UTD
Look at our u-18 youth team, the one that just won their league. They play the football that ETH wants and do it well.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Would rather lose to Coventry than get beat by my rivals in the final
European football leagues must disclose salaries I don't understand why many football fans are against revealing players' contract salaries. I think player salaries are either too low or overrated. I think Haaland's annual salary is over $50 million. Honestly, there is no way the EPL salary would be that low. Does anyone know anything about Mbappe's contract? Why didn't you make it public in the first place? I don't know if it's after tax or before tax. The media always says different things. The same goes for the salaries of Griezmann and Suarez during their time in Barcelona. To begin with, La Liga is not sure whether some players' salaries are before or after tax. Always changing. First of all, the salaries of Messi and Ronaldo from 2011 to 2018 are estimated to be after-tax salaries.) And this is not accurate regarding Messi's contract. Laporta said Messi's salary must be paid until 2025. How much did he get paid? And many believe Mane's wages at Liverpool were £100,000 a week. First of all, Mane's agent said his salary is higher than reported in the media.American leagues disclose salaries. Messi's annual salary for 2023, as revealed by the MLS Players' Association, is $20 million. The base annual salary is $12 million. The media reports that it is over $50 million, but in reality it is much less than this. Conversely, if you look at the wage bill, EPL clubs spend more money than the media reports, with Manchester City spending more than 300 million pounds, and Liverpool and Chelsea spending more than 250 million pounds. (Please disclose player salaries, contracts, and salaries.
And why are some people asking (there will be comments asking why I don't disclose my salary, but I'm an ordinary person. Are ordinary people and sports players the same? And there is FFP in European soccer) La Liga also has a salary cap. If I were a soccer player.I would agree to disclosure of my salary. i am asian. Why do people who are opposed to revealing player salaries say that some players have high or low salaries? Football's wage is It's an estimate and unofficial. . , commentators, coaches, and even other players in the league don't know a player's contract and salary...As a side note, Saudi money is exaggerated. A Saudi reporter said that Benzema's annual salary is $50 million. Jordan Henderson's weekly salary was also not what was reported in the media
You're so concerned about player salaries... It sounds good disclosing them, but why do you seem so focused on clubs disclosing salaries? I don't really see the point, even after reading yoir comment
As long as clubs are FFP compliant, I see no need to disclose personal contracts, should we treat them differently because they are football players? They are still human beings!
we just dont care mate, play ball.
Now replace TenHag asap!!
Sounthampton still classier than Newcastle. hat's off
TOP NOTCH 🤣🤣🤣
Not sure why he has joined utd. As been a rovers fan have fond memories of Jason. This has dented it slightly.
What's ur issue with him joining Man Utd?
Rovers haven't been relevant since 1995 get over it
So, you claim you are not sure why he joined arguably the biggest and the most famous club in the world 😂
Rovers, the Man City of their day, owed all their success to external financing.

If Southampton is not making it and even they struggling to come back to premier again after last season relegation how will he make manchester united to come out from the coffin box they locked themselves inn, this might be the pure we've never seen .

@@Charlton2010 not worth it
@@melappleyard2223 then he can stay on gardening leave until his contract is up 😊
So no Ashworth then? Is this guy even good? South Hampton are a shambles
From all reports united will be going after Ashworth as well Newcastle playing hardball
Different roles. Wilcox technical director. Ashworth Director of football. Wilcox will work under Ashworth.
@creepingbrain thanks for clarifying and being civil while doing it lol 😆
He's very good, credited with Foden, Sancho and Palmer and the rest of the youngsters developed at Man City, so now at Man Utd in the same role as City.
Berrada to also come in beginning of the summer transfer window as CEO, another City employee, Dan Ashworth will come in but may not until January or even next summer unless compensation can be struck with Newcastle.
@RocketRenton I mean, that's encouraging right? I'm just tired of Man United being so incompetent on the field and behind the scenes. Let's see how it goes.
Keep the big appointments coming then show us you love us through actions not just words.
Little bros are trying to become City 2.0
are they breaking FFP too then?
Isn’t that why they brought in Omar Berrada?
