one of the most beautiful couple of the cinéma audrey hepburn and gregory peck in the movie thus i liked in roman holiday .Song joe longthorne you and me
This is one of those movies you never tire of. Every time you put it on, it's like watching it for the first time. No gratuitous sex or violent scenes, just the wonder of two people discovering each other and the world they're in. Bellissimo !
I enjoyed that movie Roman Holiday it was awesome and I agree that Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn are the most wonderful couple in that film. RIP Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn
**You and Me**. Special love...Two of the most glorious people to have graced the big screen. My beautuful Audrey. My handsome Gregory. Pray to meet them in heaven.
I think this is a really great movie! I love it because it's not overly "romancey". It's just about two people from different worlds who get to know each other and really, become good friends in a short period of time. It came on TCM once after a movie I was watching and I just figured I would watch a few minutes of it and then turn it off. I never thought I'd like it. Well, I wound up watching the whole thing. I loved it!
He was really in love with her and bought her a butterfly pin when she left him to marry another. After her death he bought it from Sotheby's and had it in his hand when he fell asleep and died. He said Hepburn was the love of his life.
+Armachillo - He also said that the most gorgeous, affecting female lead was Ava Gardner. Ava called him "my kissing cousin" cause they were in so many romantic parts over the years. (google images of them and see them over the years - so beautiful in their youth!). - Many think they had been lovers, but for once, Ava kept that info under wrappers. I never noticed Peck (my sister did, she had his pic hidden under her mattress) because I was too young but then I saw "I Walk the Line" - a masterpiece now being celebrated - see youtube's trailer.... and he was unbelievable. I didn't know he could act! - Probably the finest performance of his life, but not noticed because of ballyhoo over Mocking Bird which just preceded it. - Check out the short "Best Hollywood Kiss in the World", or whatever youtube featuring Ava and Peck from "On the Beach". - There's a trailer of them from that movie too. - Yep, he was a man! - I think his second wife had it written into their marriage contract that every photo of them taken should be taken with his hand holding hers or his hand on her waist or shoulder. She had to keep a grip on him.
+Brian L Yes. I think you're right now that I've read a tad more. - They were good friends, but I think you're right. Thanks for correcting me. - Anyway, the real news about real people is so distressing, it's good for me to distract myself. - Thanks for responding, and Merry Christmas.
What can one say about Gregory Peck? A man of the world, a gentleman's gentleman who knew that he knew and yet he spoke softly but carried a big stick.
I think that Gregory Peck had strong chemistry with other actresses he worked with, like Ingrid Bergman, Jennifer Jones, Susan Hayward, and Ava Gardner, but Audrey Hepburn was special in that Roman Holiday was her first film and his first rom-com. It's too bad that they didn't make more films together, and that Audrey made only 30 films, many of them typecasting her and focusing too much on fashion.
You're right! I agree with your opinion. It was a very harmonious couple. they fit together perfectly. And they could create in the cinema the same beautiful, full of harmony masterpieces like the Roman Holiday film. This film has survived them and will survive us. I think that the feelings of pure sublime love of the film’s heroes will touch the hearts of the new generation.
@@randywhite3947 yes, but when asked later about them, she said it didn’t bother her about not doing them. she never wanted to stay in Hollywood for long, she rlly wanted a home life away from the silver screen to raise her boys and would’ve felt guilty if she chose movies over never knowing her sons.
What is there to say no better interpretation to this ballad than this with the superb Joe Longthorn, and as the title says wow were they were the best on the silver screen. I love this movie never ever will we see the likes of the movies of yesteryear, sadly. Still been there done that and we still have CZcams, thank God. this is simply gold from our yesterdays.
70 years have been passed by but the appeal of this movie has remained unchanged. (Words used to floating in my mind in abundance but now I feel emptiness inside my mind)
they were both tied to their own personal relationships. Audrey was engaged to some business man during the filming while Gregory was chasing after another girl while dealing with a messy divorce. Ironically, Audrey ended her engagement only after filming was over, and Gregory stayed dating after the filming was over. Such bad timing, they would’ve made a beautiful couple
girlouna, Wow! What a lovely tribute to Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck and that beautiful, beautiful film Roman Holiday. They are both my ideal of what all men and women should aspire to be. Thank you.
There is a scene at the ending of "Roman Holiday" when she turns to look at him one final time, that shows the great acting talent that she had. What a pairing of those two. They were incomparable together.
It is amazing how "One day" spent together by two 'strangers' in Rome can become a movie that can not be forgotten by anyone who sees it once. The charming princess, who is fed up of the 'royal life style' , remains in the mind of the viewer for ever!! The viewer"s heart cries out when she leaves "the reporter". For me, the GREATEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!
Its called karma. She ruined wives lives. The men she had affairs with and the men she slept with for movie roles. Gregory was no worse. Wolf in sheep's clothing really does come to mind
I love that this was just a beautiful romance that lasted a day rather than having them somehow get together even though the ending was sad. The beauty of such experiences are that they are short and so well cherished. Loved all the scenes in his small apartment. And Gregory Peck...so handsome!
Coco Pops Personally, I never heard that about Audrey and the casting couch and don't believe it. I am aware that she did have an affair with William Holden and Albert Finney, I believe. I never heard anything negative about Gregory Peck. I still believe they were two of the classiest and greatest actors to come out of Hollywood.
LOOL Greg peck did have affairs. Only one is admitted but insiders know there was more too it. Audrey and grace were two big casting couch ladies along with Liz. Sadly their rich families and the fact they were well connected protected them. Liz was well known to sleep about but grace married in haste and to a prince. Her image was whitewashed. Audrey was already related to aristocracy. If you want classiest I'd say Marilyn. She didn't go the casting couch route but her sexually frustrated execs at fox studios leaked lies to the press about her sleeping about. They couldn't drop a huge star but they could ruin her rep and with Marilyn's sexual abuse history and bad childhood as well as having no connections whatsoever it was believable. She did nothing wrong but go to the doctors who prescribed what are now illegal drugs. And then mkultra came onto the scene and she was one of the first victims of it. The JFK business was nothing but rape. JFK was a serial rapist and even went for teens. Quiet and shy were his type but Marilyn did get better and threatened to tell the press. She was silenced for this and ever since its been labelled as an affair. If she had succeeded more women would've come forward then and JFK would've been finished. Sad thing is backward minds couldn't distinguish between acting and real life. She was a very intelligent and classy woman who's clothes weren't awful like the people believed. And she died dirt poor due to giving charity to those actually in need. Liz grace Audrey and the majority of stars then, like now(!) Joined businesses NOT charities. These businesses provide reputation growth and paychecks as well as making owners rich. She did not seek these businesses out. She gave her own money. The sad thing is people believe the media and don't choose to delve into things. Judy garland was another wonderful woman who's life was ruined. If you didn't have a family or a good one at least you we're not going to b respected by the media. And if you aren't respected by the media they make the people believe whatever. Plz remember this is when they couldn't hit back easily like today unless they were well connected :) go straight to those who worked with them and saw what the media never saw but covered up. So many so calledclassy women who were the exact opposite and so many who were just AACTINg. Audrey would have had very few roles and not of variety if she didn't sleep about. It happened to Monroeexcept the last few after the misfits were alright . Its done to get the best roles possible. Monroe couldn't play Holly GL, the role made for her by Capote because her tutor said the audiences would be outraged. How sad. The audience were so foolish enough to think she was like that in real life!
Coco Pops To say that Audrey was a casting couch actress is just laughable and I don't believe it. She won an academy award for her first movie! If any actress was in demand it was her. However, I do agree with you about Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland. They were two very talented ladies. The Hollywood machine put Judy on pills when she was very young and worked her to death and then tossed her away when they could no longer use her. Marilyn was a very fragile lady and simply was destroyed by Hollywood. She never got credit for her talent and was thrown away by Hollywood also. She was a very talented comedic actress and never got credit for it. It is well known that both Liz Taylor and Grace Kelly slept around. Again, whether it was with casting directors, etc., I have no idea, and you probably don't either. You are just stating things that you have no proof of, and I wish you would stop smearing great actresses.
I am even using this for Movie Review among my G10 Junior High School Students. And I have watched this movie more than ten times already. Thanks for reminding me that there is a beautiful masterpiece created a long time ago.
Culture decency and dignity and grace reflected in each and every move of Gregory Peck ❤️ and the boyish, naughty kid Audrey Hepburn ❤️ innocent sensible 🙏what a handsome pair ❤️ ❤️👍👍🙏🙏
This was Audrey's first picture. Gregory Peck's contract called for his name above the title but he refused it and insisted on her name there because he didn't want to look ridiculous! He knew she was totally a star from the first scene.
That's saying a lot about Peck's character and his generosity. He was not first choice as male lead, as the part was offered to Cary Grant and Gary Cooper, who both turned it down. In the end, it worked out for the best !
@@randywhite3947 Including a ravishing cameo at the end of Lavender Hill Mob with Alec Guinness (its on CZcams). I should say first STARRING role although the French writer Colette caught a glimpse of her while she was doing the forgettable 'Monte Carlo Baby and said THAT is my Gigi! Indeed she did play Gigi in the play from Colette's book BEFORE Roman Holiday and was marvelous.
I loved this movie the first time I saw it about fifty years ago and I love it still, in fact I finally bought it about a year ago. Audrey Hepburn had a delicate elfin beauty so different from the harder-faced stars of today, an innocence they could never hope for. And as for Gregory Peck ... my god, the man was so incredibly handsome. Have to agree with girlouna. If I woke up to find him smiling down at me I'd definitely believe I'd died and gone to heaven!
Beautiful movie, Audrey's most beautiful one. Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck are the most beautiful screen couple as much as Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. These last ones are my favourite ever
I heard a rumour that the director did three endings for this wonderful movie. I am glad that he stayed with the movie as it is. I would like the film to be coloured now , that is all they could do to improve on perfection.
Great video! I experienced a similar story like Audrey and Gregory did in the filmstory 1953! This fairytale happened in Florence in 1984 - she was 20 and I was 27 - I wrote a filmstory about this adventure! ciao

When Roman Holiday began shooting, Greg was already courting / dating Veronique, who would become his (2nd and last) wife. Had Audrey / Roman Holiday come earlier, I think they would have made a perfect couple. I agree that the chemistry was quite evident.
According to an ebook about Gregory Peck, he started dating his future 2nd wife only after he finished working on Roman Holiday. Audrey was engaged to a British Lord throughout filming and only broke off her engagement after filming was over, but by then Gregory was already dating Veronique. So much bad timing.
“If there was anything going on, it didn’t last long because most of our time was taken up with work. It’s true that I had an enormous crush on him. But I was engaged at the time and I even had my wedding gown hanging in the wardrobe of my Roman hotel room. And Greg was married to Greta. I knew he wasn’t happy, that his marriage was not good even though they had three lovely children. Maybe he did feel something for me, maybe there was a little chemistry between us that made our scenes work. I was in Rome, being treated like a princess, and it was not difficult for me to believe I was the princess in the film, and it was not difficult for me to believe I was in love with Gregory Peck.” -Audrey Hepburn
"It was my good luck, during that wonderful summer in Rome, to be the first of her screen fellows, to hold out my hand, and help her keep her balance as she did her spins and pirouettes. Those months were probably the happiest experience I ever had making movies… she made everybody in the world fall in love with her." Gregory Peck
uh this is so sweet .. love this film, love peck and hepburn too. ever since i was a little kid my dad showed their films to me and i grew to love them dearly, dearly. one beautiful pair indeed.
Roman Holiday is my most favorite of all the Audrey Hepburn films. Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn are my favorites! Thank you so much for sharing this video with me. I will place it in my favorites. Thank you!
thank you for identifying the voice in that fine performance of You and Me. It's a truly great song written by the late Peter Allen of Australia and I think Carole Bayer Sager of the US.. at their most soulful. Frank Sinatra loved and recorded it too.
Lovely movie...thanks for uploaded and include a beautiful song written by australian couple ….Peter Allen you did this wonderful!!...of course Frankie superb

Although Audrey Hepburn is most renowned for her role in "Breakfast at Tiffanys", I believe "Roman Holiday" is her greatest feat.
Absolutely! Roman Holiday is much better!
She's not renowned for playing Holly Golightly. She is widely seen as miscast. She was perfect for Roman Holiday.

***** Thank you.

Eso sí que es elegancia y belleza por parte de los dos
Beautiful couple
thank you for identifying the voice in that fine performance of You and Me. It's a truly great song written by the late Peter Allen of Australia and I think Carole Bayer Sager of the US.. at their most soulful. Frank Sinatra loved and recorded it too.

¡Que película! La mejor comedia romántica de los 60's. Dirigida por William Wyler sobre guión de Donald Trumbo, que debió esconder su autoría por militar en el PC americano.
