I like how excited and enthused the ladies are about cobblestones. Cobblestones are not really of significance or value in the UK except for preservation in historical contexts so it's interesting to hear and see a different perspective on them. Thanks for sharing as always.

This episode was full of fun facts.
Crazy to think that for the majority of time streets belonged to pedestrians.
So sad to see streets in this video with small sidewalks and cars parked on both side of the road (also for cars).
It made me wonder: there's all these complaints about kids these days always being in their phone instead of living in the moment/real world ... but what about the 3 or 4 generations before? Why are there no complaints about those generations always being in their car (even for short trips) instead of being in the community/real world?
(obvious caveat: yes, yes, some people can't walk/cycle and some do big deliveries with their vehicle, but on average people are too much in their car (esp. considering that 50% of trips are shorter than 5km))
Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan.
a super cool video on a topic I think definitely needs more discussion in urban planning spheres! I especially love the nuanced takes that the women have in the tour. Went to Lisbon a few months ago, and there they have a really interesting system where although marble cobblestones are the default for pavements, on the road and also for pavements at steep inclines, they use porous granite rock which has significantly better grip when it's wet. A really interesting technique, just showing how versatile cobblestone can be!

Cobble stone is awesome cuz its cheap
and its loud if you drive fast
So motorists flow down
The sidewalks with cobblestone are annoying for wheelchair users
And it costs more to lay them by hand
I'd say if your want to have a win win put them on the road
Maybe on pre assembled grids or sth
Streets are for people not for cars after all
