In this tutorial I breakdown How to Model Curved beams in Revit. This video goes through the process of Creating Curved beams in Plans along the Horizontal X-Y Axis, then the Vertical Z Axis in elevations / section respectively.
Further to this, the tutorial covers how to how to Model Secondary beam systems that follow the shape of the Primary Roof Curvature, Model beams that attach to an organically shaped roof and how to model beams that curve through all 3 axis
The Video Content is broken down as follows:

04:13 - How to Model Curved Beams in the Vertical Z Axis in Revit Elevations and Sections
06:59 - How to Model Beam Systems to follow a Buildings Roof Curvature
11:09 - How to Attached Beams to Sloped Organic Roofs in Revit

Wow... the last part was exactly what I needed... Thank you so much
You are very welcome Marmot, glad you found what you needed.

This has been one of the best instructional yet. Not completely relevant to me, but i can see the potential elsewhere. Thanks heaps.
No problem Andrew, glad you found it potentially informative anyway! 😁
Niall
Thanks for the video, from Monterrey Mexico
Revit does not fail to surprise us, Thanks for your advice
You are most welcome, glad you found the video informative.

Excellent as usual!
Thanks for the feedback as ever 😊
This video helped me so much for my final, thanks g👍🏽
No problem Jordan. Glad it helped!

very cool
This video is very helpful. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback Tobi, glad you found the video informative.

Thanks
No problem Luisfe, glad ot help.
8020 BIM please can you teach us how to make this sterosttucture roof and stair ibb.co/B4n2TX6

How can you do a bolted connection at the curved beam/column interface ? Like in your first model. You don't want a haunch but you do want an endplate. Or how do you trim a curved beam to manually fit a skewed plate at its end? In revit i mean.
Great video... I have 2 questions. 1- how would you put a corrugated sheet metal over the curved beam in the z axis? And 2- how do you you a a tapered column small at the bottom and wider on the top? If you could do a video that would be great
Hi there,
For corrugation I generally advise against modelling the corrugated materials. The triagnulation and sheer number of surfaces complete hinders the performance of large models and is what I would deem as "over modelling", in line with the various LOD standards (Level of detail/definition) from around the world. I would use a roof by extrusion with a suitable model surface pattern to represent the corrugation.
I will put the tapered column on my tutorial "to do" list for sure. Thanks for the suggestion.
Any additional queries at all please let me know.

Sir im still getting the beam on level 1 and level 2 not getting through along curved beam
I am trying to add second diary beam along the curved beam, but it’s adding the Secondary beam below the curved beam. Can anyone help me out?
Great tutorials, but can u show us how to make connection between curved beam? Ive tried several times with generic costume connection and basic connection that in revit but always failed, it say "non linear element not supported"?
yes, me too, i think revit can't connect between coloumn & curved steel beam
I have Revit 2019 but I can't visualize the "Automatic Beam System" button. Why?
Hi N - I am unsure why this might be the case if you followed the steps (should be immediately visible in the Structure Tab). If you can give me a bit more information I will try help you further.
Niall
@@8020BIM Fortunately I solved the problem. Anyway thanks !
@@nicodm6273 Great, all the best!
Hi, I cant click on this `3D constraints` button. Does anybody know how to fix this problem?
Are you sure you don't mean 3D snapping Matice? You can see that in 3D views.
Niall
@@8020BIM I ment the box under properties > constraints> 3D, that's checked. (But i can't see 3D snapping..) When I draw the outline of the Beamsystem, i don't see the little triangle "defined as slope".

^ in that animation you will see that they also check that box, like you have. But ik can't, because it's greyed out.
Found the solution! I had to set the workplane to a level.
@@matice7179 ah right, good to know. Well done, thanks for letting me know! All the best. Niall
Excellent expanation. You are one of the best CZcams gurus except for one thing.Plz Plz stop waving your mouse pointer in all directions like U have Parkinsons Disease. It is so frustrating
Hi Roberto. Thank you for the feedback, it's appreciated. I will work on the mouse movements, its a habit I am finding hard to break 😂
