I've worked at Mc Donalds for as long as Milard at Subway, but I personally always keep in mind that my day should still go by the same way whether that customer gave me attitude and or felt entitled. Still gonna go to class, do hw, play video games, hangout with friends and family, buy my groceries etc. I wasn't handicapped, or destroyed emotionally because he or she hurt my family or loved ones. Never let the fact that you have to stay professional completely overshadow the fact that the interaction between employee and customer is still between human beings. Being a customer does not ever condone disrespect or being condescending.

I would never say if I felt ill or if I was uncomfortable until I threw up or nearly passed out. Thankfully I have a new boss and she is way more understanding. Everybody has a bad day. It's impossible to give 110% of you every single day.
That's why when I worked my first minimum wage job if somebody said something to me I would say something back I didn't care if I got fired or not for it lol Never got fired even after pissing plenty of people off I ended up quiting myself after 4 months when i realized i was pretty much working full time 9 hour days and getting paid part time wages im luckily on a much better job i actually like now.

this happens often especially at Chickfila where we are KNOWN for our interstellar customer service, so people get cranky when someone is slightly below that level of customer service. I've had to deal with lots of complaints, even before I became a manager I was always the one to have to talk to the hangry customers
We don't have Chickfila here but I work at a cinema and when I started there my boss told me that if we do our jobs to the best of our abilities they will always stand by us. Ran my own business for over 10 years and have dealt with this before. Ran everything a little to keep me up to date on how operations went so had a customer order go sideways due to our supplier. They called in and I told them what happened and they flipped out and I stayed calm explaining several times how I am doing to fix the situation. They said get my manager, so I put down the phone, went to the bathroom and came back. When I said hello again they went on how I was swearing and how they have never been treated that way. I said they just spoke to me and I was the owner/operator. I called them a lying sack of s**t and canceled their order and banned their account. The customer is always lying and no one should have to deal with that.

I needed that damn job at that moment of my life. They made me work so hard washing dishes for 5 hours almost straight. End rant.
Which is why you should vote for Social Democrats ala Bernie Sanders. In Norway, a Social Democracy, firing someone for such would be illegal. It is written down in national worker laws that people should have a chance to improve if they have done something that is wrong, but not to the level of stealing or similar. In turn you get a written warning which lasts about 6 months and only if similar happens again. Or you have a long sheet record of similar stuff every year or something. Only then can they fire you. If they still do, you get free court aid, sue them and win a decent amount of money in court. That said, you will never get huge payouts in Norway regardless of what you sue people for. It doesnt work like that. In turn it allows people to be more human and not constantly fearful of being sued for trivial things. That said, getting fired illegally is not a trivial thing.

I've worked at a gas station where people tried to fight me for asking what brand of cigarettes they wanted cause they didn't say. Or asking "Plastic tip, or wood tip?" when they ask for a cigar that comes in those two versions and they didn't specify, but I guess that was a good enough reason to try to start a fight with me. Some people just suck.
